Honestly kinda nuts how stacked Japan is right now. It’s not even just Kanto, despite how insane Kanto locals can be, but Kansai as well. Feels like Japan is the best it has ever been in Smash.
Kazuya is top 15. Lazy top players don’t realize that the top 15 are Joker, Pyra Mythra, Palutena, Pac-Man, Pikachu, Snake, Yoshi, Peach, Steve, ROB, Fox, Wolf, Sonic, Wario and Kazuya.
Geez going through this history really brings me back to the peak of my smash spectator experience. Abadango and Ranai were always players I'd root for just for their crazy character selections and playstyles, but throughout 2017 it felt like nearly every tourney there would be an up and coming Japanese player piloting an unconventional character making a crazy run or at least an upset, and those were always so exciting to watch. Tsu's Frostbite run and all the upsets from Civil War really made for some of my favourite moments watching Smash as a whole
