Great camera for birding. I owned it for a few months. I didn’t like it for portraits because the dynamic range was lacking and the colors on the raw files were very difficult to work with.
I traded it for an XH2 but I just sold that as well a couple of days ago lol. Sitting on the money and waiting for Nikon’s next move.

It is the only camera for birding I have not tried it but I've tried it at a store and af was lighting fast. I already have Olympus OM1 for birding and I have tried Fuji XH2s (which was worse than Olympus OM1 even after firmware 3.0). I used to own Canon R5 and Sony A1 and felt that R5 maybe was slightly better for BIF than A1, but R5 had its own issues, starting from the fact that your battery needs to be only the newest type and it cannot be below 60% otherwise High Speed continuous drops down 50%, etc. Does R7 15fps is maintained irrespective of battery type and level?

@@DmitryBrodsky007 I can’t tell for sure, but just know that the battery lasts forever on the R7. The biggest con for me is the noise levels. The XH2 I had did better in that regard albeit the AF sucked.

I do love Nikon, its just not what I want right now, I hope the Nikon Z8, if there every is one, is really amazing, im sure it will be :) Nikon jpegs SOOC camera is hard to beat, really nice, Canon is pretty good too. I heard the Sony a7r V has a newer color science and jpegs are awesome too. I been doing my best to tweak m Sony a9 ii jpegs, may make a video on it.

@@DmitryBrodsky007 Good question, I am not sure, as I mainly do portraits, I can ask my friend, if this does happen, but he doesnt shoot BIF either, mostly landscapes.
