Big fan of how the "enemy splits himself into multiple entities, and you have to blast the one who moved first" aspect of gameplay (that LITERALLY every enemy that splits themselves into multiple entities has ever done, ever), somehow still confuses Mark 3 games in. All of the little pop culture references in this chapter are great. There's loss on the curtains of the hospital, V1 Ultrakill from the childrens drawings, and Gaster + 2 other faces that I recognize but don't know the names of on the streets. That's a Dusk reference. Dusk is a boomer shooter made by another developer, Jakob is its main antagonist, leader of a cult of worshipers of an Elder God. The beast fought right after is a Shambler, one of the worst enemies of that game.
So this confirms that Faith and Dusk take place in the same universe, and that the Elder God cult and the Anti-Christ cult are semi-friendly rivals. Amazing.

At 1:03:14 it says "Tu estis" which doesn't seem to be correct, and there isn't an easy way to explain why in english, but "estis" implies that "vos" ("you" plural) is the subject, even though "tu" ("you" singular) is stated. But I've only half learned latin, so I'm not sure if that does have some other meaning, even though it doesn't make much sense.
It's being 8 months but I'm still hoping for Mark to find the secret bosses and the bad and best endings, the best ending just brings me to tears so sad but satisfying 😭

In tradition (as far as I know) pastors and possibly priests will wear black robes with a white collar with a small open area for the white part, the white is supposed to resemble the light within darkness, the removal of the collar is to represent nothing but complete darkness which is poetic for this death scene

The letter you read at 1:13:19 is addressed to Jakob, the main antagonist of fellow New Blood release DUSK. The "pet" that pursues Mark immediately after he leaves the shack is the "Horror" enemy from that game. (Incidentally, DUSK is made by David Szymanski, the same mad genius that brought you Iron Lung. His two brothers John and Ethan are also the creators of My Friendly Neighborhood.)
Huh. I knew this game had a reference to DUSK, but the fact that Garcia refers to Gary "and his Unholy Trinity" makes me think this line is a not just sequel bait, but possibly a setup for DUSK Episode 4/DUSK 2 and perhaps another game (unless someone recognizes the figure on the right at 1:14:03)

2:40 In the first game there was a line of text that implied the girl was in both the attic and the basement at the same time. I presume the story changed at some point and she was originally going to be in the attic but one line escaped a full edit.
If that's true then I love that you suddenly transition to the attic from the basement as a hallucination in this game.
I believe it was intentional to throw doubt over whether the priest was a reliable narrator especially with the clues and ending that "implied" that Ward was not even a real priest and was instead an insane person.

Mark, I think you should revisit this game and find the secret bosses (and lore!!!) at each building leading up to the profane sabbath in honor of spooky season coming up! I think it would make for a great video for you to put out around halloween, but I'm kind of biased bc I would just love for you to discover all the secrets in Faith and get a more in depth look at the story of this game lol

For those that don't know, Jakob is the cult leader and the, uh, "final boss" of DUSK, a game by David Szymanski (also of Iron Lung fame) and also published by New Blood. The enemy that attacks Mark after leaving the cabin near the end is also from DUSK. They're called The Horrors and... boy howdy are they ever.
tldr: Mark needs to play DUSK, he would love it
I was very delighted to see that in the game, yeah. DUSK is one of my New Blood Interactive favorites so seeing that nod was sweet indeed. I don't know if Mark will actually pick it up, though, I've not really seen him pick up a non-cooperative and/or non-horror shooter, and DUSK takes a while to really show its true colors. Damn if it isn't worth the trip though.

I have to say I greatly enjoy Gary as an antagonist. He's so malicious and goofy at the same time, like the kind of annoying villain that's actually competent. And the final scene where he gets humiliated, getting pulled by the devil is also great.
It's impressive how this game still manages to have such an atmosphere while still being packed with reference like the gaster and omri faces and v1 drawing
