I rarely get excited for characters...but STATIC is a different story and we all know his future from the old days and I believe that is what we all wanna see....the fact that Batman train's him and the journey to being a legend.... that's what I'm here for!
I kind of liked the other Static origin if only because it taught people about the MOVE explosion in Philadelphia. It will be interesting, though, for future generations to learn about what this origin is alluding to.

He's back babyyyy! Static shock changed my life when i was a kid and as an adult I'm so glad they're taking those messages of show abd putting it in the comics, and taking it more seriously! That's a hero Im sure I'll fall in love with again, if they make these comics talk more often about these issues that is, welcome back static!

There were also internal disputes over who had the creative right over the IPs hence why Static was shelved for so long and never got to capitalize off the success of the TV show (Also "political"). Finally with Dwayne McDuffie's untimely passing, characters like Static, Icon etc. that were brought into the fold with DC's partial acquisition of Milestone Comics, they were basically crippled and put in limbo till they could get all the paperwork worked out to use them and find writers that could do them justice.
Idk how I feel about Statics new origin, I kinda preferred the gang shoot out over the protest because it felt more impactful, has that super hero origin feel to it yknow?
His new origins is bad. Especially when you realize he attacks and almost kills a kid in his school and didn't feel guilty about it. More villainous than heroic

Really wish they didn't change Static's origin. It was fine the way it was and honestly they could've implemented the blm later on in Virgil's life because it seemed forced in the way it was written. This new origin kinda takes away from some of his character development imo.

I get what you mean from at least a nostalgia standpoint but they needed to update it to try and get new readers interested and having him be part of a protest where the cops gassed them is a good way to do that. Draws in readers that support protests, oppose police violence, as well as the added letting corporations test unproven chemicals on the public. Not a bad move.

Because a lot more random/innocent people can be in or near the March vs at a gang fight… This also does not glorify gangs at all vs the older origin that gave clout to gangs (the idea that a gang is a family, it also humanized gangs too…which we don’t want) this version may humanize cops for a lot of people. It also said they used an experimental gas, odds are this will be about corruption in the government and not just cops. Meanwhile you got a so-called “ intelligent”trained martial artist prodigy that hides in a protest to avoid his bully or link up with his crush, and is quick to throw hands when he and his friends get insulted, as well as use his powers anyhow without disregard for his family and friends’ safety.

They should have just stuck to the classic origin. You feel the need to add current events you can, but still keep the ever relevant events around the BIG BANG. Gang and youth violence have always been a major problem in many cities.
This reboot seems awful. Completely ruining the character's tone and personality. Virgil and static are supposed to be fun and friendly. Like that of a Dakotaverse version of a peter parker. They are making him out to be a punk, as if he is wearing a black suit (to branch off that spider-man simile). The story is too dark and detective-y. I get that "detective comics comics" are publishing this but they also publish shazam and stories like that don't have to be so dark and brooding. I just don't want my Virgil Hawkins to be the next Damian Wayne. It doesn't even feel like they are writing a story for the same character but rather a new kid who picks up the mantle after him. This isn't Virgil. And if you say it is, it's only so in name alone.

What is the static third origin or his fourth? I never actually looked at the new 52 origin so I know that the TV show origin and the comic or at least original comic origin or somewhat different

His original origin had an actual helpful message for young kids while still being a hero for everyone regardless of race or gender...can we just have heroes of color that aren't used for pander points please? Euh , Nikolas Draper-Ivey did the pencils/art for Static Shock. I don’t know who the names on the screen were but it’s not their art, it’s his. Oh and thank you for showcasing what the book’s interior look like, cause i’m kinda glad i avoided buying the issue. The coloring and the rendering of characters is really inconsistent, which I wouldn’t like at all. Nik’s digital coloring is way lacking compared to his traditional coloring style, for anyone interested, look up some of his copic colored artwork, it’s so good.

What is the static third origin or his fourth? I never actually looked at the new 52 origin so I know that the TV show origin and the comic or at least original comic origin or somewhat different

His original origin had an actual helpful message for young kids while still being a hero for everyone regardless of race or gender...can we just have heroes of color that aren't used for pander points please? Treat them like people and not a point system.

I just don't read them anymore, ever since I spent money on a New Warriors comic, I just don't trust the entire industry.

His original comic book run was very political, I recommend you read it

Euh , Nikolas Draper-Ivey did the pencils/art for Static Shock. I don’t know who the names on the screen were but it’s not their art, it’s his.
Oh and thank you for showcasing what the book’s interior look like, cause i’m kinda glad i avoided buying the issue.
The coloring and the rendering of characters is really inconsistent, which I wouldn’t like at all.
Nik’s digital coloring is way lacking compared to his traditional coloring style, for anyone interested, look up some of his copic colored artwork, it’s so good.
