It's so weird to me to see people talk so much more about mental health. I live in a place where that sort of thing is kept tightly lidded, especially among men, and it's so awkward but also freeing to hear about stuff that allows me to make my brain calm down. I've lived a larger number of years than I care to admit subsisting on the dopamine of my favorite hobbies and just kinda keep my stuff to myself, so tools that let me deal with it on my own are super helpful.

Anxiety is a real struggle, especially when people haven’t figured out ways and techniques that calm them, my friend was struggling to cope for years until we finally found out that a glitter lamp would keep her mind occupied and just watching the glitter move around was satisfying to her too, we would just stare at it together for hours 😂❤️

All joking aside....thank you so much for this terrific, much-needed video, Ozley! 🙏🏻
Some fab, little tricks & useful tips in this one.
Superb advice about _"Deconstructing"_ anxiety & trying to rationalise it. 👌
I absolutely love it when you kinda _"Freestyle"._ 🎤
It's some of your best work when you just go with the flow & allow it to be truly organic.
    7:56-9:51
I really liked your soothing articulation during this section of the video - especially, the gentle intonation of the word _"Peach"._ 🍑
That little paragraph you read to us was some top-quality ASMR, let me tell you! 👏
It was both informative & extremely relaxing.
It made me feel very calm & surprisingly chilled. 😌
    Oof! No way!! 😨
Personifying my anxiety definitely wouldn't work for me either. 🙄
Like you, I think it would equip it with more power - making it feel like it was some kind of spooky spirit or insidious demon that could haunt, stalk or manipulate you whenever you were feeling a bit vulnerable or were having an off day.
That seems a little bit creepy & disconcerting to me. 👻😱
Nope. Not for me, sorry. 😬
And you're absolutely right:music is a very powerful medium.
One of the few positives I have taken from this year is having loads of free time to discover tons of amazing music.
I have become slightly addicted to creating different playlists that coincide with my various moods.
Been listening to a lot of cool jazz, piano-based instrumentals, & old-skool hip-hop, recently, which has certainly helped me cope with my anxiety & overthinking.
Lo-fi beats are my go-to when I want to drift off to sleep, or when I just want something uncomplicated to chillout to & increase my serotonin levels.
Some of the animation on the lo-fi channels is pretty cool, too. 😏
Definitely couldn't live or function normally without music.
Probably wouldn't have gotten this far without its incredible healing benefits, to be honest.
Oh, & I just want you to know how much I seriously appreciate your brilliant content & hard work - not least, when one takes into consideration that you have your own struggles & battles to contend with.
So, thank you for always thinking of us; even though you sometimes don't feel up to it.
I think it's so amazing the way you constantly lift others up, inspire us, show pure kindness, & spread so much love & positivity. 💙
Undoubtedly, it makes you an incredibly beautiful, human being & a very special gift from God.
    💗🛐💗
Please be extra kind to yourself & never let that wonderful sparkle fade.
    ✨👧🏼✨
    Have a great week ahead.
Take care & stay strong, Ozley.🏋️ Cheerio! 💜🙋🏻‍♂️🐶💜

I'm so sorry that u have been going through a rough time with your anxiety lately. 😔 I think the breathing techniques are the best. Also light meditation to help slow the thoughts down and calm u down. I had a panic attack once and I must admit I thought I was having a heart attack. I really thought I was going to die. It scared the absolute crap out of me. The paramedics came and asked if everything looked bright and had a glow around the edges. When I replied yes he said u can relax you're not having a heart attack u have just had a panic attack. I looked at him and said I don't have panic attacks! He said they just happen from time to time. Have u been stressing about anything. I had but I can't remember what tho. Anyway I spent the day in hospital and given a once over just to make sure I was fine. Have a wonderful rest of your day and please please look after yourself Oz! 😊🙋❤

Here is what tends to work for me: focus on some specific simple thing, like some entertainment video or a news article. I basically try to empty my head and direct it to a specific task. Novels or music make things worse for me. Being on the internet somehow also helps, I guess it gives me a feeling of being connected (funny, isn’t it). I try to be careful to not get too stressed out in the first place, i.e. to recognize if tension builds over several days. Some good ideas in this video that I might try.

The '5-Why's" is a tool used in root cause analysis during incident investigations, or in determining the current state in continuous improvement projects so that you can reach a more effective future state. It is a logic based exercise. I would suggest it may be used after a person is no longer feeling anxious to lessen the likelihood of future events, but in the midst of an actual panic attack, complex logic is not generally an effective approach to reducing anxiety. If you are actively experiencing an event, you only care about relief right now from the feeling that you will die. You don't care in the moment about how to prevent future attacks, so I adjust my approach with people based on their current state.

I really like your videos a lot; they are always really nice to listen to. I like the ones for the ASMR effect, but my favorite ones so far are the anxiety ones. I really appreciate your perspective on things. When you got to the part where you deconstructed the anxiety, I liked how you kept going. I would have stopped at the part where humans judge people sometimes because they do. However, you (unlike me) continued in a super positive way and tried to rationalize it by instead taking a look "do I do it" and then making the hopeful and optimistic approach that "if I don't really judge people, then likely others aren't probably judging me." I really admire that and I think I need to try to take that approach myself. As an Engineer, in my industry, I dissect problems in a "3-Legged, 5 Why" approach, which has three categories of Man, Machine, and Method. A small group of people asks Why? together until the group comes up with the root cause of what failure transpired. At the end, we read it backwards from the conclusion by saying Therefore to see if it makes sense. This does seem similar to what you described, but I am an Engineer and I am sure there is a better way for this to be described in other disciplines, lol.
I also really appreciate that you continue to bring up prayer as that is also very vital. Like, possibly the most important thing, in fact.
Anyway, thanks again for making this video and I pray that you and your husband are healthy, happy, and well.

If I had to say some words about anxiety, I'd say that anxiety is a immoderate hope in the acquisition of a good, and either is a kind of a sadness caused by a immoderate fear in the loss of a good. In other words, anxiety is an unbalance in hope and in fear, which leads the anxious to a habitual predisposition to precipitation and anguish.
I consider the cardinal virtue of temperance the key to heal a anxious person. It doesn't mean that healthy food, exercises, hobbies, quality in sleeping and medication aren't useful. They are really important, but must follow and complement the acquisition of temperance.

I don't tend to have pervasive anxiety, but I feel like it is a good approach to view mental hygiene much like bodily hygiene, you don't just take a bath and then just gleefully congratulate yourself with "Well, that's me clean for at least a month!". It is a regular habit, I like to have various things at hand when I need to remind myself of my motivation, things like music (I also quite like lo-fi) some chill acoustic/instrumental, maybe even some synthwave to get those juices flowing(!). I find reading to be a deeply cathartic remedy for so many low moods or mental roadblocks.

18:10 that’s what happens when you personify your anxiety which is funny because moments before you described it as “giving it too much power” and “I feel like it would be out of my control” but that’s the point you can’t control everything in life and you must learn to accept that feeling

Dear Ozley, Jordan Peterson wrote 12 rules for life, and immediately after he had drugs problems, so instead of cleaning his room he left USA and beautiful medical system that would ask him to pay 500k $ and upwards, went to Russia for treatment in despicable medicare for all clinical system that he criticized so much, and now is back to USA/Canada and invents another 12 rules for another book. I wanna say I wouldn't count on his advices too much, seems like quick cash grab to me.

He had written the rules years ago, he just picked 12 from his list for his first book and another 12 for his latest.
