Hi aaron and claire. I tried your recipe and my chinese friend said that it tasted better than the one she ate in an expensive chinese restaurant. It was deliciously authentic even if i did not use chili oil and sichuan pepper. Thanks so much for sharing your recipe and cooking tips. More power to you.
I did the same thing and my Chinese friend said it was the best thing ever in the whole history of the universe. I used chili oil and sichuan pepper. I also added taco bell sauce and some leftover tacos, I blended them into a sauce and added that. Really delicious!
I love how Claire is more vocal and expressive re dishes than she was in the early videos. She really gives honest opinions re taste, appearance, feel, what’s perfect & what could be improved by another ingredient, etc. And with such intelligence & fun. Aaron is such a talented & knowledgeable chef. I’ve learned SO much from him. but I really love that Claire’s tastebuds & non-chef thoughts now add so much to the recipes. You are a perfect recipe pair - great couple chemistry & sense of humour... :)

This is what I like about this channel, Aaron giving us options & alternatives when it comes to ingredients since most of us don’t have access to some Asian ingredients
Since watching your videos, I have bought more green onion, soy sauce, sesame oil, and oyster sauce than ever before! Am I the only one? And how cute is Clare? She has goosebumps because it is so delicious! Lol:-)

I am here for your encouragement and „don’t worry about it” ❤️ I won’t recreate this recipe because I don’t eat meat and can’t do spicy food (I literally almost cried in a restaurant in Korea) but I’m here for your vibe.
Just made this recipe for the first time. It’s the best mapo tofu I’ve ever eaten however it was not 10 mins. It took my son and I cooking quickly together about 45 minutes with all the prep work including crushing my own Sichuan peppercorns. And holy moly so many ingredients! But in the end it was all worth it. So amazing!!! My boys loved it. Thank you for this amazing recipe.

I made this last night and it was SO good, even though I didn't have all the ingredients! The green onions really help lol! Thank you Aaron and Claire! Love from Canada :)
I had a lot of pressure making this recipe as we are big fans of Mapo tofu from a delicious restaurant here in Montréal Canada. My teenager is sooooooo picky with food, I was afraid of his reaction! Everyone loved it even better than the one we love at the restaurant!! I didn’t have the spicy oil or the pepper flakes but like you said, I didn’t worry about it and it was absolutely delicious 😋 Merci beaucoup 🤩
Very nicely done Aaron! Chinese takeout places don’t do this dish any justice, but your version looks packed with flavor...the expression on Claire’s face says it all! 👏🏼
