Hi aaron and claire. I tried your recipe and my chinese friend said that it tasted better than the one she ate in an expensive chinese restaurant. It was deliciously authentic even if i did not use chili oil and sichuan pepper. Thanks so much for sharing your recipe and cooking tips. More power to you.

I did the same thing and my Chinese friend said it was the best thing ever in the whole history of the universe. I used chili oil and sichuan pepper. I also added taco bell sauce and some leftover tacos, I blended them into a sauce and added that. Really delicious!

I love how Claire is more vocal and expressive re dishes than she was in the early videos. She really gives honest opinions re taste, appearance, feel, what’s perfect & what could be improved by another ingredient, etc. And with such intelligence & fun. Aaron is such a talented & knowledgeable chef. I’ve learned SO much from him. but I really love that Claire’s tastebuds & non-chef thoughts now add so much to the recipes. You are a perfect recipe pair - great couple chemistry & sense of humour... :)

Just made this recipe for the first time. It’s the best mapo tofu I’ve ever eaten however it was not 10 mins. It took my son and I cooking quickly together about 45 minutes with all the prep work including crushing my own Sichuan peppercorns. And holy moly so many ingredients! But in the end it was all worth it. So amazing!!! My boys loved it. Thank you for this amazing recipe.

Another home run, Aaron. And, put me down for a “Don’t worry about it” tee shirt too. By the way, can we substitute gochujang for the Chinese hot pepper sauce?

Thank you! 😊 About your question, sure! You can try it with gochujang but for a better taste, I suggest mixing it with some Doenjang(Korean soy bean paste)! 🤗

After buying the Sichuan peppercorns a year ago, I’ve run out and had to buy more. They’re delicious.
Send them to me if you aren’t using them!

Sitting here having just finished a bowl of this. It was delicious! I chickened out and skipped the chili oil, but it was still pleasantly spicy! Spicy enough to taste good with beer.
I couldn't find Chinese chili bean paste, but I did find red chili bean sauce, and unfortunately I couldn't find soft tofu either, but I'll keep looking. There's only about three Asian markets in my town, and I've only looked in one.
Thanks again for the recipe and video!

Hey Aaron! Can you please make a video regarding *⭐Korean's Basic⭐* must have ingredients? Such as the sauce/powder/etc. Targeting the ones that we'll use in most Korean recipes🇰🇷❤ A little guide for the noobies begginer like me🤭
