- In this episode Phil & Craig tell you all about the chassis work they've done to get the car low enough for the GT1 Reiter Engineering front end they're fitting. Not only that but they need to work out what the hell they are going to do with the doors now the hinges have been cut off for tyre clearance... its got extremely complicated!
An update on the Lamborghini Murcielago suspension. It's not quite finished, but the suspension arms are 90% done + all the testing & mocking up of the drop knuckle conversion parts we've done has gone very well.

Best Lambo build ever!
I wonder what the cost for cost of yours and his will be once its done.
How hasn't your comment got more attention Freddy!!
Thanks! & congrats on the milly!
Tarvarish, don't sell yourself short! I personally saw yours at SEMA...yours is completely bad ass! Well done my man!
Best Lambo build on YT. You and Craig are far too modest.
Thank you! 😎
Craig has some serious talent, great build Phil, keep the videos coming. Hope the rest of the build goes well
He sure does! Cheers!
I dont know what deal you have with Craig and its none of my business, but the work that's gone into this, he's going to have Gucci work boots at this rate.
i was just thinking that. Wonder what deal he got with him.
Haha, I can just imagine him now.
Would be interesting to take this into Lamborghini for a service or even just a health check once it's done 🤣
It'll be going in to Lamborghini Birmingham for lolz at some point I'm sure.
@@driftworks "what do you mean the waruntee is invalid" 🤣🤣🤣
@@driftworks I need to know when it is so I can see it
Anyone who is worth their salt knows craig work is outrageously well executed
👍
Who dislikes this? This is probably the most entertaining fottage I have seen on this website in 10 years!
It'll be Mr Lamborghini pissed off that Phil is making the car better than the Italian's can
Kids
Probably Craig disliking it cause of all the pain and sleepless nights it’s caused 🤣
Lamborghini workers who originally built this car because now it's built properly.
Kids that just want to see bling in any video with Lamborghini in the title I suspect.
Quality content as always. Honest and informative.
Plus you are creating the car you want from something that was clearly previously unloved. Superb!
Cheers!
Omg.. Saw this car today at fitted uk.. Then found the build.. Omg watching this is, jaw dropping.. So much skilled work.. Fantastic to see
Awesome as ever Phil, setting the standard with Craig again,
You / Craig and of course project binky give me hope that youtube still has a chance,
There’s only so much buy car, wrap car, exhaust x2, sell car you can stomach.
Real project cars with real talent,
You should get some of colums projects on video as well at some point
👍
Really refreshing to hear someone being so straight forward and honest with the history of the car and how they came to own it. More power to you.
Cheers!
Craig is an actual saint! Well done gents, this is incredible!
Sankyoo John.
Cutting this thing up is why I’m subscribing....and it’s my favorite car...I love it
Haha, thanks!
Nothing wrong with improving something even though it was good to begin with. My favorite series on YT right now.
Cheers!
This and The Tavarish Murchialago / Mclaren rebuild are superb viewing , I think the team you have assembled to carry out this work are spot on they all seem to be singing from your hymn sheet as it were . I know some one who is building a GT40 Kit with superb workmanship , he is equally as fastidious as you I wish I had the skill you all have.👍👍👍
Thanks 👍
The craftmanship of this build, is insane!
How have i not found your channel before ?!
If you look back hes built an M3 and an LSX ae86 on video too!
Because UA-cam only promotes people who suck all the corporate D. I was deep into vlogs when this finally showed up. So happy to have found it b
Thanks! We're apparently UA-cams secret car build channel.
That door modification alone is such a massive modification. From a engineering and design point sif view. I think it would be good to give people a rough idea of hours to do these bits, as that would truly put it into perspective.
It really is. I can't work it out exactly as there are multiple jobs going on at the same time & we swap from one to another while waiting for parts etc. But I imagine there's circa 50 hours in door 1 & 25 hours in door 2 as we've worked it all out.
What an underrated 'show' this is! Freaking insane
Yes i agree should be on the TV !
Thanks!
Let chris talk just a little bit more 👌 fair cop for taking the job on chaps - brilliant to see a couple british blokes putting serious thought and elbow grease into something truly unique. Im honestly chomping at the bit for the next update. Good luck and keep em coming !!!
Who is Chris?
I cant wait to see you finish this car its defanitly gonna be the craziest merci on the planet!!
Thanks!
Craig sure knows what he is doing! Loving this project!
Cheers!
Such an underrated YT channel. This is some of the best content on the platform 👐
Thank you!
Please for god sake keep these videos coming lads, phill and Craig. you two are right up there with the best. this for me is the best r-gt build ever. I would love to come up and have a look if that's possible?
Will do our best! I know we're long overdue now. Shouldn't be too long though!
Best looking Murcielago ever !
She was looking seriously great before your modification to the R-GT Kit and I'm sure she will look more awesome with R-GT Kit.
Can't wait to see next episode !
Thanks!
Best build on the tube. Great job Craig and Phil!
Thanks!
Brilliant work. Loving the progress. This will be one mega car
Thanks Jordan!
The way that door opens absolutely brilliant
👍
Best build vlog by far bar none! Keep killing it!
Cheers. Will do!
I can't wait to see it all finished! You and Craig make such a great team with building your crazy one off jaw droppers!
Thanks man! Much appreciated.
Fantastic work. Well done guys. 👍
Thanks!
Mind blowing work there gents, top job!
Cheers!
Wow phil, what a project men, very explanatory in sequence, Craig is the men this guy is a genius, keep it up men been a follower since the e30 m3, can’t wait for the next upload 👍👍👍👍
Thanks!
Incredible project! love watching these videos.
Cheers!
Amazing fabrication work on this project murcie 👍
Cheers 👍
Outstanding work as always guys !!!
👍
beautiful work, This is a really great project
Cheers!
Phil, I'm never going to do anything like this - but damn I love this series !
All the build and the way you do it? It's perfection ! You got my sub first time I saw your channel. Thanks for the videos !
Thank you!
Love this build. Keep em coming Phil!
👍
Unbelievable work 🙌
Thanks!
Fantastic build series, I subbed ages ago, great engineering, looking forward to next episode Phil.👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧
cheers!
What amazing work! Looking forward to seeing it done!
Thanks!
Awesome work guys def updated from original V1 this version v5.0 like it should’ve been!!👍🏻🔥
👍
It's none of my business, but I'd love to know what your deal is with Craig on labour 🤣
It's done on a day rate.
Done very well lads!
Thanks Shane!
Just stumbled across your channel, it's excellent-subscribed
Thanks :)
Great work boys! Love it!
Cheers!
Craig is tha MAN!!
👍
stay humble,what a great project.
Cheers!
Loving the RX7 FB in the background, looks like mine 😃
James Ford that will more than likely be one of colums projects @garagereg (or Craig is sticking a V8 in it )
👍
I want to put Craig on my Christmas card list
I'm sure he'd love it 😆
Craig is seriously clever
mcr91 oh yes he certainly is, I’m his mum and very proud of what he has achieved and not only clever and great person too 🙂🙂🙂
👍
Have to say, you are very brave. I thought this car was perfect. Having said that, I cannot wait to see what you do with it.
👍
Yes Phil!
👍
You mentioned how important it was for the chassis to be square but you are measuring the squareness of it while it’s on a car lift and not a chassis table. I’m sure it will be fine in the end and the work being done is still excellent quality.
The ramp is levelled, that's enough for what we're doing.
Driftworks 👍🏼
Beautiful!!!
Thanks!
Incredible
Thanks!
Yes bon boulot sa avance bien
👍
I had my doubts if the doors would work out, you did the impossible, never thought it could work out that nice without any real compromises
Craig Taylor is your man for anything that looks impossible, but then I am his Mum and thinks he is amazing 😊😊
Cheers!
I don't know if you've thought about it, or whether Craig would want it, but full on videos of all this fabrication work would be immensely popular. Think Binky, Urch fab, B is for build and how you don't miss any of the action, all the 'boring' bits that us fabrication nerds want to see, would be incredible. Like I said I don't know if Craig would want it, whether you'd need a full time camera man so as not to slow him down or what, but damn I'd love to see all the detail and process.
Not possible unfortunately. We film & I edit when we have the time. It's an incredibly difficult thing to do to film even what we do, let alone entire builds. It slows down the actual work dramatically.
@@driftworks Yeah I thought so, otherwise I bet you would be doing it already. Would a full time camera man not be financially viable? The extra revenue from all the videos would be big one day! Either way I love what I do see, always excited to see a Driftworks notification.
The work is sporadic is the issue. It happens when I have ideas & Craig & I have the time to do them. Plus I’ll be considerably less keen when it’s winter 😁
@@driftworks Mate don't remind me, there's no heating in my workshop my project will definitely slow down over the winter! That's fair enough man, always enjoyed everything regardless, good luck getting the Lambo done!
Ohh mah gawd, another video :D
👍
Casually talking about smashing the whip haha legends the two of use boys, hope you never need the safety cell ✌️
🤓🕶
Fair one 👌
👍
Amazing!
👍
Awesome just awesome.....
Thanks very much!
So when will the bolt on kit be available on driftworks.com? ;) Loving the project, dream build.
haha cheers!
Check out Fireball Tool for proper square irons, works magic.
Very fancy!
Wow! Just amazing work. But can we get some info or possibly videos on that green TVR in the background?
It's just an LS3 Sagaris
@@driftworks nothing big, just an LS swapped go kart with a body. 😂
Craig 👍👍👍
👍
Yeah I liked it 👍🏻
Thanks!
Lambo door conversion on the only car it should be done on! Oh, the irony lol. Good shite!
👍
Who are the idiots that gave this a thumbs down? Fantastic video as usual, keep it coming!
Thanks!
Firstly, love the content and the evolution of the car. But with out hopefully not sounding to amateur, could you guys of done this build with an Aventador, I’m assuming they are a carbon tub?
The Aventador never raced. These are genuine body panels from the actual 2008 LeMans GT1 Murcielago.
Good ol' Wurth calendar haha
It's a classic :D
I keep trying to simulate this hinge method in sketchup and it just doesn't seem to work unless you have a gap that is 5/16 or more and that seems like a lot.. the hinge pin would have to be pretty small I would think
Do you think the wave in the frame was a crumple Zone in what do you do about that so the car crashes correctly hopefully you won't crash it but you know what I mean
I was wondering why he wasn’t using weld through primer on the parts during assembly to prevent flash rust from developing during the working.
It's all being prepped & painted.
Amazing work, from the outside you'd never know the door hinges had been changed!
For the rear suspension, will you have to create a new knuckle and arms like with the front? And if you do, what will you do about the driveshafts? I don't think they like spinning at a 45° angle upwards 😂
I've always run the rear extremely low. I'm not expecting to have to go too much further. But we'll see.
Remember, if it can move it's not too low!
Some forward rake might suit a car like this anyway, but I'll wait and see :)
If I had to modify a spaceship, I would call driftworks
Haha 👍
Mega criticism coming......vids just not long enough 😂 I could sit and watch this work being performed by the master for hours 👍
haha, thanks!
Any chance of more on the green Sagaris?
Unfortunately not, it's not one of our builds. Craig just does some work on it occasionally.
Need some info on that first gen rx7 in the back
I don't have any I'm afraid. I don't think it was in for an LS swap though you'll be glad to hear 😆
I wonder if those Dyno torque hoodies are available?????
They're not, but i'll suggest it!
I wish I had a Craig 🤣
He's comparatively affordable.
Not familiar with my lambo anatomy, what will the front vent be used for? (I know the front side vents will be used for brake cooling) but why have the front central vent if the engine is in the back, surely blanking it out is more aerodynamic?
It's for a huge oil cooler on the race car. I'm not sure if I'm going to use it or block it off yet, as the oil cooler is in the side skirt on the LP640 & I now have a set of R-GT sideskirts on the way.
Driftworks thanks for the quick reply! Yeh why not go full race car eh?😂
is that steel tubing what you welding?
It is a steel frame car. Largely made from box section.
When’s the RB26 going in the back? 😂😂😂
Haha, I like pissing off the world, but that's a bit much 😆
Do you have wider rear quarters aswel? Or is the track width equal front and rear with the wider front fenders?
It will be equal, the race car didn't have wider rears as well.
You can see the GT1 rear bumper mounted to the standard Murcielago rear end at the end of the video.
this is up there with project binky
👍
2:58 TVR Sagaris
Yup!
Are you painting the whole car or wrapping it ?
Paint. I've already done it once.
Will it ever be back on the streets??
As it's a road car, and will remain 'just' a road car I certainly hope so.
Awesome work ! Hope you will keep the same color ! As a professional detailer I give you a free detail if you come to north of France one day ;)
It is having a colour change. But not too different.
Wish you all could clone yourselves and open a location in the US...you’d have a permanent customer👍🏽
haha, thanks!
Is this going to be streetable?
As it's my road car, I certainly hope so haha.
what about that TVR tho?
It's a TVR, so it looks cool, but you'd never want to own one. Even this one that has an LS conversion.
@@driftworks HAHAHA Truth!
One like. one comment for that door!
Haha thanks!
I see an FD rx7 in the background.. what going on lol
Craig has worked on them for years. He built a 1070hp LS7 powered one himself. Also Colum who works for Craig builds Rotarys & has an FD.
Wheres Starkey and Co?
Next door doing real work :D
@@driftworks well someone's got to or Phil won't be able to afford all these lovely things 😂
Uncle Phil not shy on chucking out the cash at 85k... lend us a £10 would you ;)
No....Mine! 😎

Well done darling 😆
