Can someone answer a question for me? It seems like lurchers have a serious edge over purebred herders in this event, but teams that have a lurcher only have one and then three herders (usually BCs) as teammates. Is there a reason why?
my guess(es) would be that people just like the high drive of BCs when they want to compete in some form of dog sport. Also in a Lurcher you COULD get a dog who is more of a typical Whippet/Grey and doesn't do this whole "go get the ball" thingy for fun. (Additionally, I haven't looked anything up but at crufts you see BCs in almost anything - this might be a bit more varied in other countries) And, OF COURSE, the (cross)breed shouldn't be chosen just because you want to compete in some sport.. it has to fit characterwise as well.
