The course is very complicated. As I was lost in it I payed most of the attention to the handlers. And I have to say, that 90% of the mistakes weren't dogs faults at all! 90% of mistakes were mistakes or imprecisions of handlers. They had wrong body positioning, too quick hand signal, rushing it too much to the point where they were signaling second obstacle while dog was about to do first one.... etc... . Not a dogs fault.
It is usually the handlers fault. This is a sport that it is easy to make a mistake in. All credit to these handlers who have done an amazing job and is still doing an amazing job. I think it doesn't matter who's fault it is, what's important is that you have a fun time with your dog
It's well known, in fact the reason this is also a human sport is because of the positioning. For example, when like 3 or 4 of the dogs hit the first pole, the announcer said he didn't know why, but it's because the handlers were eager to run off and had the hand signal up before the dog had caught up. Every time the dog goes to the wrong jump, you notice the handlers body is positioned towards it. All of those handlers are aware though, both the ones who made mistakes and the ones who didn't. I doubt any dogs were chastised following any of the runs.
It never is the dogs. I'd probably do that, probably aren't multitaskers (I'm not as well) so there running and they freak out and give the wrong command
2 Australian Dog breeds, representing 3 individual dogs overall with the rest all Border Collie. Not bad, out of 12 finalists one in four is an aussie breed; in the top 50% one in three is an aussie breed: not a bad skew. A red Aussie Cattle Dog, 'Virginia' with Italian handler (4th place), Black and Tan Kelpie 'Ozzy the Thunderpup' (6th place), Red and Tan Kelpie (Elim.). Honorable mention to the aussie cattle dog, its the first time the breed has been seen at Crufts International with this level of competition when you're the best its hard for the rest. Kudos to the handler too.
Before they go the round they go around the course a couple times till they memorize it, then by the time they remember their brain adrenaline runs in and they end up remembering for everything going so fast.... at least i assume thats what happens cause thats what happens when i do it with my dog
When I showed horses I would get to the posting of the course as soon as it was available and study it and kept going over it in my head until show time. Very stressful. This course is crazy hard too
One of the funnest days i've ever had was a lovely surprise, as well...I cried a lot, with joy! Out walking with my dog, whom people everywhere agreed would be a prize-winner, we happened upon a huge indoor event with stunning dogs prancing about the parking lot. We went in just as the Agility stage was setting up...wow, wow, wow, wow, WOW, what a show...we both enjoyed it immensely!!! Strolling around inside, sooo many people stopped us to inquire which event(s) we were competing in. My beautiful girl...such an incredibly soulful being...so thankful we shared 14 years together.
Most dogs having showing names. The American Kennel Club requires a showing name (ex Bella the Ball) as just a competition name. Through the name you can find it’s ancestors. They also add titles to the showing name (ex Bella the Ball CGC (canine good citizen))
Yeah. But horse nicknames are pretty crazy 2. I don't remember the exact name but my mom's 3rd horse this year (Fancy, we have 6 at the moment) had like a 5 word name and it was crazy. I've never seen a dog with a show name tho then again I fast forward to the running part😂

@@tanneranthony475 I would love to start, but my dog is old. Wouldn't wanna put her through that strain, though I'm sure she'd love it. Just her body probably wouldn't
@@faith-cv2ul Nah, she has real bad hip problems and I wouldn't want her to put her through to much strain, her body can't really keep up with her anymore. She can still run and play, just can't do all the climbing and jumping.
Perhaps a tad but they have opportunities to cut corners while the dog is doing certain obstacles. I was surprised to see the older fellow but he did just fine. It's not always about winning, for some it's just bonding and fun with their dog and getting a little extra if they do end up winning lol
@@lolanakahale1665 nah, most the handlers will be the owners and those who have trained the dogs. sometimes someone will run a dog which isn't there own at competitions, if they have been offered the chance, but at this level it will generally be their own dogs that they have trained. and tbh, there's plenty of amazing distance handlers who do well if your dog has more independence, plus you see handlers of all ages and fitness levels doing agility and doing well.

I love how they always let the dogs finish the course even if they are eliminated. Dogs having a blast comes first, competition second.
The course is straightforward and simple? No, this is complicated. So much respect to those who finish without any fault.
