    I sincerely think that Buddy would be proud of how this version of his demo of "Crying,waiting,hoping" turned out because Marshall captured Buddys attitude and essence to this rendition and i absolutely love it!

    Likely one of the most underrated musicians of all time, even with popularity he achieved. As much as I enjoyed the movie La Bamba, my favorite 3 minutes of that movie was listening to him channel Buddy with a modern twist. If you have a true appreciation for what Buddy Holly's impact was on music, you have to love this guy. If he would have been alive and performing in the 50s and 60s with those riffs, voice, and ultra cool laid back swagger, he would have been as popular as Elvis and the Beatles.

    • @Jesuscomessoonable
      @Jesuscomessoonable 2 роки тому +3

      EVEN more famous than Elvis as he was very creative when it came to composing new hits... He influenced the most important popular band of all time, the beatles... So that is an important achievment!!!! Regards from Chile and enjoy the good music.

      I saw La Bamba when I was young, and JUST like you said: the scene with Crenshaw playing (and Philips on the payphone), and the scene where he “channels Buddy” (like you said) before the plane takes off, were also my favorite scenes of the film. Even though the song was/is upbeat, the scene just has this dark or disparate undertone to it. It was just so powerful.

    Gary Moore made Hendrix's "Red House" his own..
    Stevie Ray Vaughan made Hendrix's "Little Wing" his own.
    and Marshall Crenshaw made Buddy Holly's

    Regarding the dispute over which version is better, I'm sure that Buddy Holly would not be offended by those who said Crenshaw's is better. Holly's recording of this song was found in his apartment after he died. It was only him and his acoustic guitar. The label took the tape and had a studio band play along with it to make the Holly recording you're familiar with. It wasn't Holly's arrangement or his usual musicians, so it's anyone's guess if it resembled what he might have done.

    Great version of this classic Buddy Holly tune by Marshall Crenshall who I think looks like British pop star singer John Waite. What do you all think does he look like John?
    Thanks for up loading this fab & gear video.
