    Best take away is always what does work (best) and what wont work well. I love your videos bc you have an enthusiasm for experimenting and a "try it and see" attitude. Yeah, there are a few hard, fast rules but you encourage people to try things, decide if you like the look and move on. Try things small first to test and then give it a go. I like that attitude and teaching style so much. Thank you for what you do for us.

    I've been needle felting for about 5 months now and learned SO much from your tutorials. I am still too intimidated by wet felting, but I love watching the tutorials! I'm hoping that the more wet felting tutorials I watch, the less intimidated I will get! One day I'll do it!

      I've been felting for about 7 months and was apprehensive about wet felting. After 2 months of needle felting my first piece was taken after Marie's Fire Bowl video. I figured what was the worst that could happen? If it was unusable then no biggie, but surely I would learn something and I did. I had a little issue with the locks and viscose not coming together as well I would've liked. Someone in the FB group stated that I may have been to aggressive at the start or what she called a "super felter". I fixed the piece by needle felting the locks down, and tried again. Second time all went well by being super gentle at first. So give it try! No need to fret. It's lots of fun and a good bit of exercise!

    Just found you. Very interesting a couple of weeks ago I saw a video on soap felting and I want to give it a try. I got some wool from Amazon and soap. I hope I got the right stuff, I wanted to know what you do with the fabric you make. Thank you I need to learn some more from the videos. 👍wish me luck. A new venture I'm turning 81 this month. 👍 yay me. I crochet a lot of hats to donate and I'm teaching myself to knit from watching UA-cam and came across felting. One more thing... Marie, thank you for being so supportive. It is so refreshing to learn and not feel any pressure. You aren't all about selling your product; you believe in it which is absolutely perfect. But you support everyone branching out and learning and developing their art. The fact that you can try first with what you have at home, see if you like it, and then invest. Love it! Thank you!

A question regarding palm washboard. When you do the rolling method, you have all the rolls to count..When you use a washboard, how long do you it on each side and back. Thanks for this video!

    I missed it! Can you believe I forgot it was Wednesday? Happens a lot these days. So happy to be here for the replay, though. Also happy to hear that using pre felt isn't considered "cheating". I have nothing carded but think I have enough appropriate wool to at least play around and add some texture with maybe locks or nepps. You didn't mention silk hankies, though. Is that something to try? Also wondering if 4mm silk ribbon could be incorporated. Hope to get at least something that will work for the next week's Wooly Wednesday. I'll be starting small. Baby steps... Thanks so much for another great session!

    I like the look of carded bats, and wanted to try some as a wet felting design layout. I was thinking that a pre-felt would be a good base to use to compensate for the lack of crossed layers of wool. After seeing you do it, I am so happy to know my plan should work well! Cannot wait to see how your wonderful colors and textures come out from today's felting!! ... And mine!!!

    What is the difference merino top and bats of roving?

    • @mariespaulding8182
      @mariespaulding8182 4 місяці тому +1

      We have a video on this on yt... Top or Sliver (same thing) has all fibers aligned and going in same direction. These may also be called COMBED fbets. Batts and Roving (roving is a long strip of a batt) have the fibers going in multiple directions. These may also be called CARDED fibers. ADDING to the confusion = lots of people and vendors call Top and Sliver Roving... because people are not well informed about the terms... so people call looking for "roving" and we know we need to ask more questions to figure out what they might want to use. These terms only speak to how the Fiber is "prepared" and says nothing of hoarseness or staple length. If you need assistance, call our shop or use the contact us page and we can help 😊
