These colors and patterns are so beautiful together. I've just discovered nuno felting, and this was a great beginner tutorial. I'm excited to give it a try
Your teaching style is relaxed and informative while demonstrating the process. The emphasis you place on gathering supplies in the beginning allows your students to understand the importance of each element you use for the project. Thank you for taking the mystery out of nuno felting. I'm much more comfortable with the process after watching your videos. I've gathered so many supplies over the years, but I've been hesitant to nuno felt. Thank you. Be well.
Thank you so much for your lovely feedback, it really is so encouraging and appreciated. We are so glad if you find these helpful and LOVE THAT you feel you can get started using the supplies you have acquired! Sometimes...you just need to "start" to get past the "blank page syndrome" ... so make something, anything and dive in. There is so much fun ahead for you :) ~ With love, Marie
I am new to felting, 67 yrs young and still learning, and love every minute that I am binge watching Wacky Wednesday, with Marie and all the fairies,...thank you for sharing your creative mind and ideas with Me, hugs to you all! I have been spinning alpaca, merino silk since the 90s , dying wool and making beautiful sweaters hats and scarves, but felting is new to my repertoire, lol!!! Thank you again for sharing your life with us out here,I am greatful to be able to learn from the best!!! Will be calling soon!
This is a great tutorial. I watched it several times before I actually attempted this as I have never Nuno felted before. Even so, I'm so thankful for the pause button! Marie is an excellent teacher, It pretty much took me all day to complete this.Just laying everything out to begin took me so long. Gather everything ahead of time and have it all ready to go. I thought I did, but then I had to cut my resist and needed wider bubble wrap, etc and more towels. One thing I didn't anticipate, was that my silks would bleed our color. Thank you for providing this wonderful learning experience.
I really enjoy how you explain as you go through the process of creating such wonderful pieces of art. Thank you for sharing your wonderful gift with all of us.
@marie, every time i watch a tutorial , felt and feel good about it I go into the next one thinking I’m going to keep up with you. Not even close ! Thank you for your casual and informative style of teaching. My house now looks like a tornado went through it. But I’d rather be felting with Living Felt !
That’s was so fun to watch and being a beginner at wet felting I think it’s a great piece for me to try. I have lots of silk scarves and putting together a order now so I had a very good idea of what I will need. Love you videos and I am learning a lot. Thanks, your a great teacher. Kathleen
Thank you for making and sharing this video. I just finished a cowl following your tutorial, and it came out so beautiful. Now I am going to start making a few more with the fabrics and fibers that I have. It was a lot of fun, and your instructions are thorough and complete. I especially liked your supply list, fiber list, and that you provide the measurements and weights.
Just made my first cowl and I'm really happy with it. Took a risk with some of the fabrics as I didn't test them first but they have stuck ok. I always seem to have trouble getting locks to stick. Thanks for a great tutorial. I also love Wooly Wednesday's and have learnt so much from you, Marie.
Absolutely amazing!!! Cannot wait to make this. I have most of my supplies but I do have some questions about where to find all the "silks" and embellishments? And how do I know what will felt? I don't want to spend a lot of money and I think the silks are expensive. I'm also at a loss where to find the "resist". Is it a plastic or a canvas that bends with holes?Thank you for the tutorial.
I have over 100 silk neckties from back in my business days. Are these usable in this felting process? I would like to do something artistic and useful with these silk ties. Thank you
Hi Arlene, we replaced the PDF about an hour ago...and have tested it succesfully just now. Can you give it another try? If you tried previously, try closing your browser or clearing cookies.
Love this tutorial and the wonderful feel against the neck with the silk as well as the warmth🥰where could I find that resist and that great LARGE foam roller? Wishing I had more time to make these before the holiday but there is always next year!,thank you for sharing your wonderful skills and instilling in us new adventures...so appreciated !
you can get that large foam roller at 5 below store. Its used in yoga, so maybe a place that sells accessories for yoga they will have one. I bought one at 5 below last year for another project.
HI and thank you for trying our project. The free pdf you downloaded is a freebie to go along with the video...the wet felting instructions are covered in the video. While our kit does include a printout with a little more written detail on the felting process, we do show it all in the video for free.

Thank you so much for this tutorial I really loved it and I cant wait to try 👍😁
I need to order more wool for Christmas. Gifts, Like pronto!
Love it I can't wait to try it
So happy to hear it, Jennifer! Have fun :)
I found that by turning the project sideways, it was easier to lay the fibres down in a crosshatch by moving up and down. It didn’t feel as awkward.
Very cool!

I love the Halloween lookL
Einfach Super!😀
Thanks so much
Thank you for sharing this wonderful tutorial. So very informative. I was wondering if you could use silk from a silk tie with this project?
Thank you! A silk tie for the base would be rather thick, but consider it for surface inclusions... AFTER you test it by making a small sample :)
Oh I know, it’s for comfort inside!
One question
Does the fabric have be silk or can one use chiffon snd other silklike fabrics?
Thank you 😁🍀
I have over 100 silk neckties from back in my business days. Are these usable in this felting process? I would like to do something artistic and useful with these silk ties. Thank you
Thanks for this video Marie. Looking forward to having a go. Unfortunately unable to download PDF :(
Hi Arlene, we replaced the PDF about an hour ago...and have tested it succesfully just now. Can you give it another try? If you tried previously, try closing your browser or clearing cookies.
@@LivingFelt Thank you, I was able to download! :)
What size do you start with when laying out wool? Thank you
Pls visit links in description...there isa pdf you can get with instructions on sizing.
Marie, that was really lovely! Where did you get the foam column for blocking?
Hi Nan, thank you :) I actually got mine from a chiropractor...but they have them on amazon...search FOAM ROLLER :)

Hi Isabella! The resist is here:

We got the foam roller on Amazon :)
AmazonBasics High-Density Round Foam Roller
@@pattieboy5861 thank you so much!
@@LivingFelt thanks so much for the speedy reply
I'll be trying this soon. I need to do a test felt with my thrift store silks first. Thanks for the tutorial!
Awesome...yes! Test :) It is so much bettter when you know how the fabrics will interact with the fiber :)
Hi from Turkey 🙌 what is hanky? Cotton or silk?
Just a question about weight of merino...the UK seems only to do 18.5 micron. Think I would get away with this weight?
Oh yes, it will be lovely!
Could this be made without silk? Just layers of merino is what I was thinking.
Indeed. The brown one we showed does not have a silk base layer -- it does have silk in the design layer - but that is just design choice :)
@@LivingFelt For the one with no silk base, how many layers of wool did you use?
cool thankyou
:) our pleasure, Lee!
How many pages should the PDF be. It is 6 pages long, but there are no instructions for the wetting and rolling...do I have it all?
HI and thank you for trying our project. The free pdf you downloaded is a freebie to go along with the video...the wet felting instructions are covered in the video. While our kit does include a printout with a little more written detail on the felting process, we do show it all in the video for free.
LivingFelt Thanks! I was also wondering if you sell the ‘foam roller’ for scrunching and blocking, or if you found it somewhere else? 😊
That is an Amazon purchase...not very expensive...and good for your muscles too :)
How long does it take to make one
Was there a reason mentioned that you “had” to use silk anyone.?
Yes, I thought, mistakenly, that you “had” to use silk Unser a cowl scarf.
Where do I get the foam roller for blocking? I don’t think I saw it on your page
Amazon, Ebay, Walmart and sporting goods stores will have them. They’re typically used for self-myofascial release therapy.
Could you show how to put a top on and make a hat?
How do you spin it dry?
We have a spin dryer..you can also you a washing machine on spin only.
Why only 30% shrinkage width wise on the resist?
The goal is to have a well felted piece while still having a nice drape. The layout contributes to this. Give it a go and see how you like it :)
LivingFelt ah, great, thank you!
Purtroppo il pdf , nel sito, non è scaricabile...grazie..
It is fixed now, thank you! Ora è stato risolto, grazie!
@@LivingFelt thanks a bunch :-)
