Could have bought the name from the previous owner and serve some generic BS. Katz pastrami is like Juniors cheesecake. It hits, but it’s overrated and I’ve had better at a few spots.

Damn. NYC hitting these brothers hard...and I love it! When on the East Coast, leave the Cali look at home and just flow... Manhattan has many nice food places, but if you want that same vibe that you pitch in LA, go to the Boroughs and get a grub there... don't stick out like a tourist...whole different vibe in the East.

Joint is a tourist trap. Pastrami is good, but I’ve had better. Plus I heard it’s like $25 for a sandwich now. I think I paid $18 pre pandemic and that was a stretch. It isn’t that good. The old Carnegie Deli used to have better pastrami sandwiches, before they went out of business. There’s a new one, not sure if the quality is the same. Could have bought the name from the previous owner and serve some generic BS. Katz pastrami is like Juniors cheesecake. It hits, but it’s overrated and I’ve had better at a few spots.

I traveled most of the US and cali, specifically LA area has the best Korean Food, Chinese, Vietnamese, Mexican, Peruvian, Japanese, Mediterranean, Thai, Indian, Armenian, food I’ve had in the states. Not to mentioned some American notable mentions. Not to mention the slew of plant based fine dining as well. Are you just strictly thinking about Pizza and Burgers?
I’d love to get proved wrong but I traveled for work for several years and I found places like Boston and Dallas and other slept on locations just where more impressive than the major cities like la and New York maybe like you said it’s the overhype that makes them overrated

They most famous to the east side not Harlem ! I grew up getting them from 117th 5 Ave there famous there to that side of town . It just depends where your from because folks wasn’t walking blocks and avenues for a chopped cheese. I remember when they were 3 bucks that’s how far I go back 😅
