    I had the black one, EF! And will be doing a future review for it as well.
    Agreed on all points Chris! It's a very smooth writer, and a solid pen for it's price! Thank you for the review! :)

    I got the Purple and the Blue variants of this, filled with Waterman Purple and Blue respectively. Both are very enjoyable for 2 colored Journaling. Glad that they got Chris' Seal of Approval. Thanks for posting...

    I liked your review, I bought those, still waiting for them, but was intrigued about cleaning them, that you clarified.
    You became a reference my friend
    Have many more nice discoveries in this young year, I will appreciate sharing some of them

    I believe it is Majohn's answer to the Hong Dian N1S in particular ... In favor they have a greater variety of nibs. Thanks Chris for introducing this fountain pen, definitely worth considering in a collection. Your choice of inks is always great!

    Thank you for another great video! I received the green versions a few days ago. This pen impresses me very much. I have the F nib and it produces the perfect amount of feedback for me. The threads are super smooth, more than most pens I have. I think I liked the pen a fair bit more than you. I was trying hard to unscrew the section from the body and was getting frustrated because I could see the threads through the window.. ugh. My OCD said it must unscrew! Your video has stopped me from potentially going too far and breaking it - Thank you!
    At this point Moonman/Majohn has become my favorite Chinese maker over the usual suspects. From the C1 to the A1, they are all robust, well designed, and consistent writers. Kaigelu would be in 2nd place for me. PenBBS has a place close to my heart and I enjoy the 456.... but the artificial scarcity they seem to employ has soured me on the brand some and to be honest I have moved on. Your milage does, and may vary....

    You could also toss in a Wing Sung 626. Out of those 2 I'd opt for the green or blue. I think a red fleck would be a treat. A Stub nib would be nice.

      626 c/c filler. 699 is piston or vac filler. Wouldn't compare them toT5. Maybe the T1.

    Thanks, Chris! I appreciate the thorough review. In fact, I did not realize how I could clean a Stipula, with its unique piston, until this video. I can get the nib and feed out, but I was trying to put something bigger into the pen, which (of course) was not permitted unless the section (which I believe is glued in) were removed. However, you method of using the syringe will probably work. I probably cannot remove the ink staining on the clear part of the barrel, unless I use some bleach. I am not sure if I should, so I can live with the little staining that remains.

    I have the matte black in EF. The blue and green ones just don't appeal to me as much. What I do think would look REALLY good with that hand-done fireworks design is a deep burgundy or dark red! I think that would look fantastic! I like mine. I have it inked with Noodler's Lexington Gray. I like that Subway Sepia a lot, too, though.

    Well said about comparisons. From what I've seen, there's really nobody that hasn't copied, so it's not a big deal for me, except for when there's a definite attempt to deceive.
    Though I am not as interested in piston filler pens, like most, I can see their use, and have several. This one looks interesting, at the least. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this pen!

    Interesting nibs on these, I have a medium with no breather hole. It has hard started a few times and I'm curious to see what
    happens with that over time--maybe a Kaigelu nib for it. I think it's a cool pen; I've got the purple and like the design very much. Thanks Chris!

    I like the yellow Hongdian, the green barrel like glowy stripes is new, nice but I'm a longer writer and I got stocked with the wide grip of Jinhao 185. I wish this new models came with wide thick grip sections. One day not too far from now, this Chineese companies quality nibs will compete with more experienced companies, in my humble, maybe out-of-my-mind ideas. Love your Collection🐶, hugs to doggys.

    I saw some comments from facebook saying that the T5 is a clone of Aurora Optima, I have both models and they are not the same, the only part of T5 that resembles the Aurora Optima is the nib section which is very long and comfortable to hold. The T5 has a different clip, and different cap band, the top and end finial has a dome which Aurora Optima has flat finials both end and cap, and T5 is bigger than the small Aurora Optima. There are limited designs for a pen, so there will be overlaps of other brands, the only thing I will look for in uniqueness is the nib, i felt the nib grind is very hard to copy.

    • @chrisrap52
      @chrisrap52  Рік тому +2

      Some people like to use the clone word, which evokes a response. These are not clones. They share some design elements. Agee on Aurora nibs, they are great & are available in a large range of sizes & shapes.

    I own one of these, and I think that the cap doesn't seal moisture the best, because inks tend to dry out in the nib of this pen. It might have to to do with how the small amount of turns to screw the cap on? Other than that, great piston filler, pretty pattern, I got the nib in medium and it writes very well when not dried out.

    • @chrisrap52

    I prefer the colours to the matt black version. I notice they do a purple T5 and I like that a lot. The factory must have a lot of nibs, boxes and paperwork left over with the old Moonman branding yet we see the cap band now shows Majohn. I know there are bigger problems than that in the world right now but changing names seemingly cannot happen overnight.

    • @chrisrap52
      @chrisrap52  2 роки тому

      No need to throw away Moonman branded bits. Just transition to Majohn as old inventory exhausted.

    as much as i love inexpensive fountain pens, I'm afraid they're saturating the market with "not so great" stuff that sort of cheapens the art. I'm on the fence, but it just seems that the quality is not getting better, there's just more variants.

    When i first saw these pens, i had doubts how the "firework design" design would look in real life, not retouched glamour shots. And now i see that they look like a lot like airbrushing failures. If i spray too long in one spot, the paint begins to pool and then the "spider legs" appear. I guess it can be marketed as a "special firework design" now. But for me it will always look like a failure. Good thing there is plain black version.
