They are so useful! Plus they use up a ton of yarn which is a nice bonus.
I was crying with you as a life long pet person. We’ve been through this and it’s always very painful. Our last three dogs were just the best buddies ever (Boston Terriers). Summer Sock Camp is especially motivating even though I pretty much knit them year round. I have some lingering sock wips to tackle which also includes a pair of Simple Skype (one done). Also just started yet another Musselburgh for the Christmas gift basket (right after finishing one) so pretty much for the rest of the year will have one of those on the needles too. Yours is truly a work of art.
It is so painful. As much as I wish no one else knew this pain it is comforting to know I’m not alone. I adopted an old Boston terrier from my local shelter years ago and he was such a good dog. I agree, summer sick camp is motivating seeing everyone working on socks at the same time. So fun!
Sock explosion episode! Love it! I wish I had the passion to knit socks.
Fun fact, I was a crocheter first and the only reason I learned to knit was because I wanted to make socks. They were my first real project. Now I prefer knitting over crochet but it’s nice to have both skills. I think you should make whatever brings you joy!

Oh definitely! Some of these have been out of the rotation for years because they’ve been holding socks that haven’t seen the light of day. It’ll feel so good to get some of these done in the next few months.

I highly recommend the bucket tote! So usable. I bet Gizmo would like it too 🤣 I also can’t wait to see how much of a dent I can make in those sock WIPs!

Oh Shauna I'm so sorry about your beautiful dog. How lucky he was to have been rescued with you, and how lucky you were to have 13 years with him! I love your handspun hat - I just cast on my first project with handspun (spun by a friend, not by me) and coincidentally I am also making a Musselburgh.

Hahaha, of course you’ll be working on a big blanket. But if it’s cold in the AC that makes sense. I guess I’m lucky to live in an area where it is seldom too hot for knitting, but we also don’t have AC so it would be a real problem if it was hot all the time. Enjoy your summer making!
Heartfelt sympathies for your loss of Rudy; I lost a pet over 13 years ago and I still have moments of sadness. During May, I went through a reading slump which felt SO weird but on June 1st I just picked a new book ( Prickly Company) by an author I’d read before and really liked what I had read ( Five Winters is the previous book ), so far I’m really enjoying all the different characters and the story line is a bit quirky yet interesting. With my projects, I’m finishing up a pair of socks and trying to finish up my Free Your Fade shawl (it’s going to be my new winter scarf). Loved seeing all your socks, you did amazing on your “sock Marathon” so I think you’re going to super well with Summer Sock Camp 🏕️ 🧦😊❤
Thank you! I don’t think we can ever fully get over the loss of a loved one, furry or not. This is the first dog I’ve had to put down as an adult and it was the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make.
Good luck with your knitting! I wish I could do a marathon amount of knitting regularly but that usually isn’t the case. For some crazy reason I have to go to work five days a week 🤣
Shauna I’m so sorry to hear about Rudy! You are an amazing maker. I love all your projects. You do inspire me to push me out of my comfort zone in trying new sock patterns and new methods. I haven’t been on instagram lately but trying to catch up.

Plenty of people prefer vanilla socks over patterns. I like both but really enjoy learning new things and pushing myself to new techniques. Whatever works for you is best.

@@shaunastitches thank you! Yes I am knitting socks for socks camp. I just finished a pair of morning coffee socks. The pair I am working on now are just a shortie vanilla pair.
I have never heard of summer sock camp. I'm going to replace my Birkin cardigan, because my first one has giant holes (used two ply lace held with mohair and wore daily for three years-it just suddenly started to disappear as the mohair gave out) and the second one I thought I could get away with long floats (can with sweaters) but I catch my fingers in it with a cardigan and after ripping out more than one long float (didn't weave in ends, and used superwash yarn this time) that left me with live stitches...well I called that one done and am now on to my third. Going to use superwash this time, but twist the yarns after every stitch, which will be my big summer project.
I know how you feel with your dog. I've had two cats for almost 15 years. The first one died last year, and his sister, well wasn't supposed to last this long. ((Hugs))
Summer sock camp has been around for a few years. It’s organized by Kay of The Crazy Sock Lady. She has a UA-cam podcast all about her makes too. Definitely worth checking out.

Your quilting looks so good! I wish I had it in me! I'm just not patient.
If you want a quilt that doesn’t take much patience this is the one. It literally couldn’t be easier, which is why I’m able to pull it off. I highly recommend Stitch Obsessed tutorials for the steps of a quilt and there are many about a Jelly Roll Race quilt, which is the type this is. I really suck at cutting fabric straight and this doesn’t really require that at all.

I have read a few stinkers recently, and I feel guilty giving anything fewer than 3 stars. I will do it, but I feel like a jerk. I have to wonder if the ratings for Britney’s book are based more in sympathy. 🤷♀️ I need to get back into the Matthew Perry book and finish it.

I’m sure there are reasons for some books that are rated high when they don’t deserve it…but I don’t appreciate it 🤣 it takes a lot for me not to finish a book so if I get a bad one I just keep powering through. I’m nearly done with Matthew Perry’s book now. It’s gotten repetitive but I still like it better than Brittany’s.

Here too, although not as bad as they predicted so far. I guard I’d rather be prepared for the worst and get less than the other way around.
I know how hard it is. Jan 2023 I lost my 15 year old Yorkie October 2023 I lost my 15 yr old Silkie then April 2024 I lost my 16 yr old Silkie. I’m still trying to deal with it.
