- We are back in Space Engineers today.
Lets build a scout plane - using some actual wheels for landing! A bit of a challenge to make it work and look good, but overall happy with the result.

Space Engineers is a sandbox game about engineering, construction, exploration and survival in space and on planets. Players build space ships, space stations, planetary outposts of various sizes and uses, pilot ships and travel through space to explore planets and gather resources to survive. - Ігри
I really like the look of this ship.
I had an idea of a patrol aircraft that would look a bit like this, but also a bit like an attack helicopter. The gatling turret would be underneath, it would have two large vertical thrusters, one on each side of the fuselage, and a "tail" with control thrusters at the end.
The idea was to use it as a patrol _drone_ but also be able to fly it manually.
Trying to build along with you was a nightmare :I but once you settled on a design was easy to follow XD nice vid

Aerodynamics would just be summing the angle of every face into motion for six directions and then interpolating the velocity along that direction Not hard. It doesn't need vorticies simulation, which is the complex expensive stuff.
there actually IS really good reasons to have wheels on atmospheric / interplanetary ships in SE, and it's the same reason i only use 2 vectors of thrust with atmospheric thrusters (upwards and forwards), they take up SO MUCH power !! flying is quick but hovering is expensive.
but yeah the 1x1 with suspension is basically useless lol and wheels just always look so bulky

im curious if this would need a change since you put reactors on it and those give lots of charge, but now you cant really use reactors early game on the earthlike planet as uranium isnt on the planet
idk if youll see this tho since this is a year late
Adding wings in this game could be a better idea for those who wants to do planes

I think some of the ships you make should be retrofits to other models. adjust one class of older ship to be another class... That's very typical to see, happened a lot in Star Trek. You had older ships that used to be battlecruisers, converted to diplomat vessels or large science drones
That would be interesting to have variants for each class of ship - but use the same chassis as a foundation.
It's a realistic outlook too. Happens all the time. Refits, Retrofits... Saves money for whatever company owns the ships@@uthris
kinda like you would covert a old tank into a tank destroyer with bigger gun but of course much different as this is space ships but thats quite a good idea (sais me commenting on a 4 month old comment)
@@reign_of_stuka8991 Just look at the entire series of Humvees, all of them are on the same exact chassis and have been since around the earlier half of ww2 (iirc)

I've also got an idea for a ship, if like to see a lightweight fighting ship that can deal damage to larger ships when in numbers not sure how you'd do it so I'll let you work on that lol. But I'd think it would be pretty cool.
Technically this ship could assault a larger one with numbers. Wouldn't be very effective, but I'm sure a combat focused variant could be interesting

I really like this build But I don't understand why you were pushing wheels onto it when you can use VTOL and tax with a float. Good stuff tho, keep it up

If you want to shed weight just use the vector thrust script
I'd agree, but prefer not to script in these builds outside of sub grid steering in rovers
Yeah I don't feel like using scripts either I just go big or go home

I know this is an older video, but have you tried out the "Aerodynamics" mod in the workshop? A lot of what you described with the F22 example is replicated by the mod. This is my first time seeing your videos, so if you do already have a video dealing with the mod, ignore this comment.

what is there to do in this game? why build ships with weapons? are there enemy ships in this game when playing single player?
There are some NPC hostiles - also meteors potentially that can shoot to prevent taking damage.
Mods can add a lot more NPC threats and challenges as well.
Are you going to play planet coaster again?
