I managed to find two of the Fisher Price "My friend" dolls- Jenny and Mandy- from around the same time period while browsing at a flea market several years ago. They are so adorable! I have also found the original Fisher Price family home, schoolhouse, and barn in thrift stores in more recent years. Although my younger sisters and my brother (he had the FP Action Garage and airplane) were the ones who received these toys from Santa at Christmas I love collecting these reminders of those happy days when life seemed a lot more simple! Congratulations on your great find! Thanks for sharing!
I was a little old in 1980 to be playing with dolls but I do remember baby soft sounds advertisements. I would be interested in learning more about all the Tender Love dolls from the 1970's. I never had a Tender Love, but I remember their being many interations. Thanks for another interesting video ☺️
The Baby Soft Sounds with the Blonde hair sort of reminds me of my old Doll Susie Sez So Doll from my Childhood:)!! Unfortunately, I no longer have my Susie Sez So Doll:(. However, of all the 3 Fisher Price Dolls in this video, my favorite is the Baby Soft Sounds with the blonde hair because she feels very nostalgic)!! Thank you for sharing these very adorable, sweet Fisher Price Dolls:)!!
My grandma moved and while we cleaned out her house, there was many decades of stuff inside and this doll, that was my dad grandmas doll, was in there. She isn't wearing her original dress, instead a handmade outfit made by my dads grandma.. I'm really in love with her, her zipper was broken and she's missing her tag so I decided to do what I want with her and I stuffed her with beans.
I got a baby soft sounds for Christmas when I was 7. She would talk at random hours during the night in the closet. 😱 But oh how I loved her. She used to ride in the basket of my bike too.
I wanted that doll back then but I never got her growing up poor wah 😭 no just kidding lol 😂. I only got very little toys growing up poor. She sure is a cutie if you have her.
I was born in 1987 so I don't even think I was thought of when this doll was out. It's interesting though. One thing though, when she cries that does not sound natural at all. Actually she doesn't sound natural at all doing anything. Lol. But thanks for the video this is really interesting.
@@vintagedollcollector4828 I literally had a nightmare last night and heard this doll in it. I'm not trying to be rude or anything but it kind of sounds creepy. You're probably right though the interactive aspect was what was important back then. Maybe the word important isn't the right word though.
I've noticed something about your channel, I don't even know if you realize you're doing this, but you're describing things in such a way that a blind person can actually visualize it in their head or at least I can.. I'm blind so can't see what's on the screen, however I don't need to see what's on the screen in your videos, because you're describing it completely. I know you're probably not meeting this for blind people alone, but I really do appreciate the fact that you're narrating this and describing everything completely. Thank you so much for doing that, I've subscribed to your channel, I love it it's awesome. Thank you!
Hello I’m not completely blind but I do have no vision in one eye and very limited in the other. I also noticed the descriptions of the baby doll being very clear
She doesn’t sound like any baby I’ve ever heard. The cry especially falls somewhere between a mewing kitten and a baby bird. Surprised the way she sounded didn’t scare the kerpillows outa some kids
I have a friend that told me that she thinks what happened was they used an adult voice and then turned the pitch up. I'm probably not saying that correctly but you get my point. they made the recordings higher and that's what it sounds like to me too.
@@cmpvariety1764 I can hear that. But I think it would’ve made more sense to get a kid to make the sounds but guess that’s because I grew up in 2000’s and we already had babies that sounded like a kid or baby. Adult voices may have been all they could use back then
I had this doll. This was state of the art back in the day. Thanks for sharing.💜😊
Thank you for watching. It is interesting to see how doll technology has changed over the years!
I was grown up when she came on the scene, but what a little darling 💕. Thanks for posting today !
Glad you enjoyed it!

Fisher Price made a lot of great dolls, but except for the wonderful My Friend series they are not too well known. Thanks for watching!
I still have my "my friend" Becky!
@@rebeccahuber8286 I had Becky too! Her hair was so beautiful! And Jenny! I used to pretend that Jenny was Talky Tina......and now I have HER!

I still have my Baby Soft Sounds AND my Baby Tender Love. Michelle and Nathaniel; I'm 43 and I've had them all my life!
There she is! That’s my Christine! I can still hear her sounds!!
She looks cuter than she sounds!
Thank you for sharing all about this doll. 👼
Yeah, about that sound. An 18-wheeler driving by our apartment was enough to set her off in the middle of the night!

I'm not familiar with Susie Sez So, I will look her up. :)
Thank you🕊❤
my little sister got Susie Softsounds for Christmas in 1982 or 3. I remember how the wrapped gift would coo mysteriously when the package was moved!
I would love to have seen your reaction to the cooing package!

She is such a sweet doll, I'm glad you have those fond memories of her.
I bought two of these dolls one for each daughter. They each still have their babies. They are quiet if you turn them upside down.
Good to know, thank you!
She is precious! :)
I had one, but couldn't remember what the voicebox sounded like. If I still had the doll I would definitely tweak that voicebox.
I was going to ask if she talks, but you demonstrated it.

No, she doesn't sound human! I think it was just the novelty of having her be somewhat interactive that was the appeal.

Thank you so much for this comment, you made my day! I have not made a new video on quite some time but will be back at it again soon.
