Just started really running over the last 2 months after losing 60 pounds and bought my first pair of running shoes about a month ago and love them so far, Nike React Miler. Got my first ever 5k coming up in a month and hope to start building my shoe rotation with a race day shoe next.
Do you find there's much difference between the speed 2 and the pro 2? I use the speed 2 for racing at the moment. Half marathon road races are the furthest I've done, but I'm stepping up to the Marathon distance next year and was thinking the progression of shoe would naturally be the Pro 2? Would welcome your thoughts.
@@garethpurkis872 I have the first version of the speed and pro. To me at least there definitely feels like there is more of an energy return with the pro. I ran intervals in them once so my first run wouldn't be in them on race day and the intervals felt almost effortless. Maybe placebo but the carbon plate is stiffer thus more return.
Got a small shoe rotation . Use Saucony Ride 13 for faster sessions (as I’m not fast). Then Glycerin/Triumphs that use for daily easy and long runs. Want a bigger rotation but I’m fairly light and perhaps not too bad form as shoes never run out! Got some on 1,400km that look and feel fine. Very annoying, want to buy more shoes!!
My rotation is Saucony Endorphin Shift & Novablast v.1 for daily training, brooks Launch 7 for tempo and some intervals and the Saucony Speeds for intervals and races! Interestingly, until 600km always reached for the Novablasts over the Shifts for long runs as I felt the Shifts were noticeably heavier but since 600km I’ve started loving the Shifts and I feel they have retained their mid-sole better. It’s really amazing how I’ve changed my preference between those 2!
I'm new to running and by trial and error as well as youtubers recommandation I curently rotate the following: 1. Recovery - Puma Velocity Nitro 2. Tempo/Intervals - Saucony Velocity Speed 2 3. Easy Run - Hoka Clifton 8 As for my next shoes I have two in mind: 1. Race shoes - Nike Vaporfly 2 2. Trail shoes - Hoka Speedgoat 5
My all nike rotation: pegasus 38 for easy and trail, zoom fly 4 for quicker pace average runs and tempo runs, streakfly and vaporfly next% 2 for speed workouts, alphafly for road races, and air zoom victory and dragonfly for xc and track races.
Great video for those starting to build a rotation. I think another benefit is when you're retiring a shoe, as you can build up mileage in the new shoe while wearing them in rather than having to do a complete swap. I've ended up with a 4 shoe rotation. Daily: Nike Pegasus 37 Flyease, Speed: Saucony Endorphin Speed, Race: Nike Vaporfly. Overlapping with your suggestions quite a bit! Rather than a recovery I have a long easy run shoe: Nike React Miler. Just finished interval session of week 11 of your intermediate half marathon plan. My Garmin thinks I'm peaking which is a good sign! Not sure I'll manage 1 hr 35 mins but feeling confident about a PB and 1 hr 40 mins. Will let you know!
My rotation is Nike Next %2 for fast racing, New Balance 1080v10 as a daily tarmac shoe, Nike Trail 2 for grass, bumpy or anything off road and finally New Balance 411v2 as just my normal walking around trainer. I can recommend them all and Ben's reviews has helped me with these. In particular for me with the 1080v10 and the Nike Trail 2's 👍
Great video Ben. My rotation at the moment: Puma Velocity Nitro - daily / recovery Saucony Endorphin Speed - long intervals, tempo, long runs Adidas Boston 9 - short intervals New Balance 1400 v6 - short intervals, track, races up to 5K Nike Vaporfly Next % 2 - races longer than 5K Salomon XA Elevate - hard trails Innov8 X Talon 212 - muddy trails / XC racing Saucony Havok XC spikes - XC racing
QoD: I am running 2.500 km a year and have a rotation of 4 + 1 shoes. To start, the "+1" is my trail shoe, Pegasus 36 Trail. As I don't do much trail, I don't really count them in my rotation. Daily shoe: Nike Pegasus 37. Not my favorite, but ok. Speed/tempo shoe: Saucony Endorphin Speed 2. Brand new, but Iove them already. Recovery shoe: Nike ZoomX Invincible. Little bulky, but good for recovery and really slow long runs. Racing & interval: Nike Vaporfly Next%. Yes, they are that fast. I actually have two pairs of them. And the first pair has 615 km of usage but are still absolutely ok for me, still very good. In general, I use a shoe for ~800 km, before I replace them, meaning that a pair of shoes last for ~16 months, of course with a lot of variation. Finally, it's not more expensive to have several shoes to rotate, compared to 1 pair, except for the initial investment. The TCO / km will be the same (provided the have the same price and last the same no of km-s).
As for me, i sort of min/maxed my shoe choice down to two shoes --- Hoka Wide clifton 8 for majority of my runs, and then Hoka rocket x for fast tempo runs / races. so really 80 percent of my mileage is in the clifton and 20 percent i the rocket x
Hoka Clifton 9 for daily. Got 3 pairs. Hoka Speedgoat 5 for trail, snow and muddy conidtions. Hoka Cielo X and Adidas Adizero Adios Pro 3 for race and speedier sessions.
Started building up my rotation as it helps extend the life in my Shoes. So far I have: Reebok Floatride 3 - Easy Runs Nike Pegesus 37 - Threshold Runs New Balance 1080v10 - Easy Runs Brooks Launch 8 - Workout Nike Next % Tempo - Workout/Race
Great video. I do rotate race shoe and a training shoe. .. nothing like running Ona carbon shoe on race day. Gives you that pop 😀. Hoka Clifton’s are my go to. They just keep you going and going on those long runs.
Currently using the Hoka Mach 4 for a daily trainer and a pair of Saucony Freedom 3 for quicker runs. Will replace the Freedom with another shoe soon and possibly another daily trainer. Racing shoe is the Hoka Carbon X
DAILY: Saucony Ride 14's, especially for rainy days. SPEED: Brooks Hyperion Tempo/Saucony Endorphin Speed (just retired the Sauc's) LONG/EASY Day: Novablast 2/Saucony Endorphin Shift W/O: Saucony Kinvara 12 TRAIL: Altra Lone Peak 5, Saucony Peregrine 11 Still on the hunt for the perfect trail shoe for me... I work at a running store so I feel like I've tried practically every shoe known to man at this point haha!
I'm just beginning to properly build a shoe rotation. For years I just ran in one brand of shoe: you guessed it, the Peg, occasionally throwing in a minimalist free runner. At the moment my rotation is Daily/All Purpose: Nike Air Pegasus + Saucony Ride (last couple interactions of Pegs disappointed me, so I've started experimenting, and find the Ride my fav alternative. Looking forward to really breaking in my new Peg 39s, as I've heard they've reverted back to earlier iterations. Speed/Drills: I'm a big fan of the Saucony Kinvara. Like the most maximal minimalist shoe, feels like you're wearing a sock, while providing solid support, decent grip, no so great in wet weather, okay on light trails. I've found this has really helped with technique and gait. It's also a cheap shoe. I used some Nike Free runners in the past, but their shelf life was never good for me. I can get PBs in these, and they seem almost as durable as the Pegs. Race: Vaporfly. it really feels like your on a cloud with a spring. Given the cost, and the short shelf life I'm really hesitant to use it that much. Mostly in Park Runs, and final training runs. Recovery: I've been using the Hoka Bondi, nice cushy support that Hokas are known for, I wish break in time was a little shorter, but after a few solid longer runs, they become really comfortable. I used to try a cushioned Nike, whatever the predecessor to the Invincible was, but I could never find them on sale.
For trail running I use the Hoka Speedgoat 4 and Lasportiva Mutant, very comfortable but for the best grip, in a trail shoe that I have ever used is the LaSportiva Mutant. Whether it is wet slippy, moss covered rocks, wet grass, scree... you name it these shoes will grip anything any everything. You can place your foot and know it will just stick. Definitely my choice for the Bob Graham round and anything long in the mountains.
Daily/recovery : reebok floatride 3 (recommended by you!) or old pair or Ultraboosts Pegasus 38 : long/steady/tempo Adidas sl20: tempos/intervals Vaporfly: TT, Races, intervals I've definitely seen the benefit of using lots of shoes, makes things more interesting and gives purpose to every run. Bought these all within a 4 month period so dreading replacing them all 😂
lol I got 35 shoes on my rotation. It was not planned. I just ended up buying a lot due to youtube reviewers like you lol No regrets though. I love wearing different shoes every run
LOL. That's gotta be tough, man. It would require to run a lot in order to justify those purchases. When I pick up another shoe pair, I realise that I'm obliged to run hard in the foreseeable future.
I think I've settled on this idea for a running shoe rotation. Three categories and two shoes in each category. Daily trainers, speed shoes and trail shoes. Got no need for a recovery shoe because I tend to just swim to recover, and not serious about running to have dedicated race shoes, I can just do races in one of the speed shoes.
Thanks for the video!! Crazy where running is today. In my early running days (late 70's early 80's) Their were two kinds of shoes Canvas and Leather. Of course leathor eas viewed as the best material. It seemed that all athletic shoes were called gym shoes. It was New Balance in the mid-eightees that revolutionized running shoe technology. Keep in mind, people in Marathons were wearing shoes like the first versiions of the asics tiger, nike tailwind, and other similar shoes. So, the light and plush (which by todays standards would be low cushion shoe) . Interresting to now be looking at not just new technology but also having a shoe rotation!
Long runs: Hoka Arahi 4 Workouts and short 5-10k races: Puma Liberate Nitro Tempo/threshold runs and 21k races: Saucony Kinvara 11 Trail: Short, muddy: Saucony Peregrine 10/Altra King MT 1.5 Longer runs (ultra): Topo Ultraventure/La Sportiva Akasha Plus a few minimalist shoes: Merrell Trail glove v1 Merrell Vapor glove v4 Vibram Fivefingers Nike Free RN I've also got a pair of Altra Escalante v2.5 but I don't use them for running because I bought the wrong size and they're too sloppy :D
Long runs: Brooks adrenaline GTS 21 Trail: Salomon XA Bondacliff GTX 2 Daily: Nike Winflo 8 (also decent for speed) For years I was using Karrimore Tempo 3, simply because they were cheap and did the job. When I finally decided to get a decent pair, I could feel the difference and saw it in my performance as well.
Easy/recovery/everyday- Asics Novablast and Nike Pegasus 37 Tempo- Adidas Adizero Adios 6 Speed- Adidas SL20 Race- Saucony Endorphin Speed 2 Trail Short/Muddy- Salomon Alpha Trail Long/Technical- Saucony Peregrine 11 I will be running my first Marathon next year so will be on the hunt for new Marathon racing shoes- either looking at the Saucony Endorphin Pro 2, the Asics Metaspeed or the Nike Next % 2. Not sure yet 🤔.
Only in the last 2 years have I build up my rotation, but I’ve been running for 17 years so late to the party but love them now. So race day I have Nike next % v1 and the Alfa flys, speed, tempo Nike zoom fly flyknit v1, short to medium runs peg 37 long runs Nike react miler and New Balance beacons v2 recovery runs peg turbos v1. And I do notice the difference in my runs with the different shoes.
Everyday: UA HOVR Sonic 3, Hoka Clifton 7, Bondi 7 Race and Workouts: Nike Tempo Next% Trail: Hoka Torrent 2, Nike Wildhorse 6 Can never have too many shoes! Definitely keen to try out the Carbon X or Rocket X, and maybe add them into the rotation for races and workouts!
Well I’m taking that top reason for building a shoe rotation. Current.y I have the Hoka rincon 2 and Atreus base model as mu daily trainers, 1080 v10s as my long run/easy shoes and the saucony speed v1 for my tempo days. I also have some Pegasus trail 2 and Hoka torrents 2 for trails. Love them all!
My shoe rotation I’ve gone overkill… but I have next to no injuries so I attribute part of that to my 5 shoe rotation… Daily shoe: Hoka Rincon 2 Speed shoe: Hoka Rocket X (set my 5K and 10K PR) and or Saucony Endorphin Speed 2 Race Shoe: Saucony Endorphin Pro or Hoka Rocket X Recovery shoe: Hoka Clifton 8 Trail shoe: Hoka Torrent 2
Love me a good shoe rotation! Mine looks like this: 1. Daily: Nike Pegasus 38 2. Speed: NB Rebel V2/Saucony Endorphin Speed V1 3. Racing: NB RC Elite V2 4. Recovery: Nike Invincible Run
Daily/long/trailish: reebok floatride energy 3 (75€) Recovery: brooks ghost 10 (140€), (a bit worn out) Speed/short races: nike zoom x elite 10 (80€) Daily/speed: asics novablast (87(?)€) Track: 20 min barefoot, than nike zoom x elite 10 (favourite shoe, I should dump them by now, but I can't) Next (if there is a sale): saucony endorphine speed or speed 2
Six shoe rotating at the moment Ben. Daily Peg 36/ Infinity react Recovery: Invincible Speed: Zoom Fly flyknit but trading these as they're getting old and feel clunky. Race: Vaporfly 2 Track: Dragonflys. I have a narrow foot and Nike have always suited me for this reason.
4 shoes in my rotation, Nike Tempo Next% for longer runs and Harriers sessions, Nike ZoomX Invincible for my recovery runs and then the Nike Alphafly for race days. Also got the Nike Pegasus 2 for when I hit the trails.
Have a little of everything depending on surface and what type of training I am doing. 2-3 daily trainers (NB 1080v11, Saucony Ride 13, Asics Nimbus Lite-2), 2 recovery shoes (NB Beacon V3, Altra Torin Plush 4.5), 2 trail shoes (NB Nitrel V3 low spikes, Asics Fuji Lite-2 high spikes) with different heights on the spikes depending on the surface and if there is tarmac on the course. 2-3 speed shoes (NB Rebel V2, NB Fuelcell TC, Saucony Endorphin Shift also a daily trainer kind off) and 1 for competition (Asics Metaracer). It all depends on mood and what type of training I am doing what I choose to do my run in.
@@giovanbattistafichera8439 shift can be used as daily and speed. Again depending on your workout. The shift is great for fartleg and other speed sessions as they are easy to pick up the pace in.
@@StefanTerndrup I'm pretty sure that using the Shift for speed sessions is not what Saucony intended the shoe for, as it's the only Endorphin without a carbon or nylon plate. That said, it is a good daily trainer for runners below 75kg who go faster but in terms of versatility I think that the Speed is way superior
Hi Ben, great video. Interestingly enough I do my road races in the Nike Tempo Next %. I find them excellent for this. In total I have about 10 pairs of shoes. One I recently brought were the Asics Noosa Tri 13 and I was pleasantly surprised. Light, stiff ish and promotes quite a quick turn over and very comfortable. One pair I brought for a daily trainer was the Brooks Ghost 13 which I have to say I did not like. I found them energy sapping. I know a lot of people love this shoe but it just wasn't for me.
Daily/Recovery: Saucony Kinvara 11, Hoka Clifton 7. Speed: Saucony Endorphin Speed v1. Race: Saucony Endorphin Pro v1. Trail: Nike Terra Kiger 6. Have been using the Clifton 7s for long runs but want to replace that with a different shoe for my next training block!
Shoe rotation getting bigger and only missing thing now is a race shoe if I decide to go for road marathon (instead of trail ultras) - Hoka Cliftons for recovery road runs - NB 1080s for easy or long steady road runs - Hoka Carbon X2 for long, speedy road runs - Hoka Rocket X for short speed work/intervals - Hoka Evo Speedgoat for recovery or long runs on trails - VJ shoes for trails: MAXX for shorter runs, Ultras for longer runs. Both more aggressive on feet but needed when muddy.
daily/recovery: a few pairs of True Motion Nevos, True Motion Aion; workout: Nike Tempo Next %, True Motion Solo; race: Adidas Adios Pro 2. They all work really well for me as a heel striker, including the Nike Tempo, I just bought another pair. BTW Ben it would be great if you could give your recommendation for non elite groups like heel strikers or people how may need some stability because of pronation (like the Adidas Pro 2's lateral bias that did not work for you).
I have wide feet so I really only use Topo and Altra. Currently I'm using Topo Ultrafly 3s for faster stuff, Topo Phantom 2s for long runs, and Altra Lone Peaks for trail. I used to only wear Altra which have zero drop, but had a few issues with a tight achilles, so I found Topo which have a wide toebox and a small drop (3mm-5mm). Combining these seems to have helped keep me injury free and finishing a marathon (finally! Always seemed to get injured during training).
Very much agree with rotation. Using Nike Invincible, Nike Turbo2 (last pair unfortunatly), Asics Novablast, Nike React Miler (rearly in use), Nike Alphafly, Salomon SpeedCross. But I would add one more category - wet condition trainer (very wet feet are not for me) Nike Pegasus 37 Shield.
Daily shoes: Asics Novablast; Speed shoes: endorphin pro and endorphin speed; recovery and long easy run shoes: Invincible and Infinity; Race day shoe: Alphafly and Vaporfly
Got the floatride 3 after watching your review way back. Done 600+ miles in them and still ok. Looking to refresh soon for winter. I switch between those and my vivo barefoots day after day.
Similar rotation. NB 1080 v11 for easy/ daily mileage, NB Rebel V2, (never tried the V1), for workouts and Next % for race day. Just bought some Next % 2 in Black that came out in the last 10 days so looking forward to trying them out. 👍
51 years old and new to running. I have a 3 shoe rotatioin Daily - Xero HFS . To help with my running form Longer runs - Brooks Ghost 14 Recovery - Nike Invincible Speed -- I hope to get some soon. 1st I need to get some speed lol
I’m an over pronater but trying to move away from stability shoes. I still keep some in my rotation though. Daily trainers: NB 1080 v 11, Hoka Arahi 5 Tempo/Threshold: Saucony Speed 1, Hoka Rincon 2 (too narrow), New Balance Prism version 1 Long Run: ASICS GlideRide 1 and 2. Love them both! Recovery: New Balance Vongo 5 (for the stability. But they are too firm. Looking to maybe replace with NB More V3 because they seem stable enough) Race: New Balance RC Elite are in the mail and set to arrive tomorrow! Hoping they’re stable enough for a full marathon Trail: Hoka Challenger ATR 6 (too narrow, looking to replace)
I’m on the heavy side currently im 180lbs at 5’7”, My current shoe rotation are the following: 1. Daily/Long runs: Pegasus 39 2. Tempo/Intervals: Adidas Adizero Boston 10 3. Recovery run: Nike ZoomX Invincible Run Flyknit 2 4. 5k/10k race: Adidas Adizero Takumi Sen 8 5. Half Marathon: Adidas Adizero Adios Pro 2.0
I just went out bought 3x lots of 'do it all' Reebok floatride 3. all for under £150. Still less than one pair of carbon plates. Wish I could afford them but hey if Steve jones can break records in normal shoes Ill be relatively fine hahaha
my daily trainers: Asics Novablast, Asics Novablast 2, Hoka Clifton 6 & Hoka Clifton 7 my speed shoes: Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 37 & Hoka Carbon X 2 my slow pace shoes: some of local brand shoes with slim midsole, lightweight & cheap price
Easy run :- Skechers go run 7 Long runs or threshold runs :- puma deviate Nitro Intervals & tempo:- ascis meta racers Race :- spikes new balance md800 v6
All support shoes rather than neutral, shop put me in these from the start and I'm still in them. Road: 2x brooks adrenaline 21s love them, nike structure 22, mizuno wave inspire 17, brooks reveanna11 Trail: saucony peregrine10. Normally 4x for road, the reveanna is pretty shot
I only have all-arounders: brooks ghost 11 & 13, asics novablast 1, hoka mach 4, new balance 680v6, Saucony Clarion and most recently the Nike Invincible. I'm currently not doing speed work or long run, due to injury, but before I was using the Saucony for speed stuff.
Current 'rotation'. I have 5 pairs but use them on various types of runs depending on how my legs are feeling. Like for example I had a track session yesterday but calfs were sore so I used the Hoka Arahi 4 for a bit more stability. My speed suffered but I feel great today. Easy/recovery: Hoka Arahi 4, Saucony Endorphin Shift Intervals: Nike Pegasus 37, Saucony Endorphin Speed Speedwork: Pegasus 37, Endorphin speed Long Run: Endorphin shift and speed Races: Endorphin speed Trail: Hoka Torrent 2
I have 9 shoes on my rotation, 3 trail and 6 road. I record each shoe mileage on garmin connect so I like to have some newer ones on the go ready to replace those that will soon be recycled.
Only 7 pairs 🙈 in total but some are not used that often Easy/ recovery and easy long runs: nike peg 37/ new balance 11v1080 Speedwork: nike zoomfly or nike turbo 1 Race day: nike vaporfly next % Trails: salomon s/lab ultra 2 Track/ cross country: nike spikes
I love this Ben......if you were brand loyal and the entire shoe rotation had to be one brand, would Nike just edge out Asics, then Saucony and Adidas following, POSSIBLY WITH PUMA a very, very rapidly improving 5th Hopefully the high-end tech midsoles, become mainstream across all midrange shoes within 12-24 months, example Nike Peg 40, should be predominantly ZoomX and also flyknit or atomknit.
Almost everyone here is a neutral runner 😂 Im an overpronator and this is my rotation: Workhorse: Asics GT-2000 10 (just retired a Kayano 26) Speed/Tempo: Asics Hyperspeed Intervals/Race: Hoka Carbon X 2
Yeah I also ran in "stability" shoes for a long time like the ASICS gt-2000s. I've now been running in endorphin speed 2s for a while, smashing PBs all over, no injury issues. I'd say give it a go leaving stability shoes behind and see what happens
Nike tempo next % is my race shoe at the moment. Brooks launch 8 is my easy shoe as like light and comfy. Puma Velocity Nitro is my recovery shoe, super comfy and soft. Odyssey react and pegasus 38 is my daily, but much prefer the Odyssey for sure....
1: daily runner - Nike pegasus 38 2: recovery - Nike invincible run 2 3: trail - Hoka speedgoat 4 4: treshhold - Hoka rocket x 5: intervals - New balance feulcell TC 6: racing - New balance RC elite 2 i dont like the pegasus that much so almost doesnt use them but the nike invincible run2 insted as daily, recovery and easy runs. looking for a new trail shoe looking into vj spark and saucony peregrin 12
Boston 8s almost all the time, except long races then it’s Boston 9s. I have a few Adidas Adios for shorter distances, but tend not to use them. Plus some Adidas Terrex for off road, including the goretex version. Picked up 10 pairs recently in a sale, because I’m never going to the Boston 10. Sorry, I’m not risking very different types of shoes, these work for me so that’s it. Not even an Adidas fan boy, just the fit is right for me
I started running at new year in works trainers! A few months later bought some Brooks Adrelenine 20s which have been great, then a few weeks before my first organised half marathon recently i realised they had done 400+ miles and thought i might try the 21's.When i went to buy them i also bought brooks launch 8 GTS as a faster slightly less comfortable one for the little 5k parkruns as i do like to go as fast as i can on those. So for now those 3 are rotated, maybe some trail shoes some time soon.
I am doing all of my runs in ASICS GT 2000 10. I typically do 5-6mi/day (non-competitive) with 2 speed workouts a week. I am looking to add a shoe that’s a lighter weight for tempo/speed work. I have some over-pronation.
Love your videos Ben. My rotation at the mo is: Easy/Long Run Asics Novablast, Speed work Nike Zoom Fly SP, Tempo runs Nike Zoom Tempo, Race day Nike Zoom Fly 3, Asics Magic Speed, Nike Zoom Fly Flyknit. I'm interested to look into the Saucony Endorphin speeds.
Just started really running over the last 2 months after losing 60 pounds and bought my first pair of running shoes about a month ago and love them so far, Nike React Miler. Got my first ever 5k coming up in a month and hope to start building my shoe rotation with a race day shoe next.

SPEED: Brooks Hyperion Tempo/Saucony Endorphin Speed (just retired the Sauc's)
LONG/EASY Day: Novablast 2/Saucony Endorphin Shift
W/O: Saucony Kinvara 12
TRAIL: Altra Lone Peak 5, Saucony Peregrine 11
Still on the hunt for the perfect trail shoe for me... I work at a running store so I feel like I've tried practically every shoe known to man at this point haha!
I'm just beginning to properly build a shoe rotation. For years I just ran in one brand of shoe: you guessed it, the Peg, occasionally throwing in a minimalist free runner. At the moment my rotation is
Daily/All Purpose: Nike Air Pegasus + Saucony Ride (last couple interactions of Pegs disappointed me, so I've started experimenting, and find the Ride my fav alternative.
Daily/recovery : reebok floatride 3 (recommended by you!) or old pair or Ultraboosts
Pegasus 38 : long/steady/tempo
Adidas sl20: tempos/intervals
Vaporfly: TT, Races, intervals
I've definitely seen the benefit of using lots of shoes, makes things more interesting and gives purpose to every run. Bought these all within a 4 month period so dreading replacing them all 😂
lol I got 35 shoes on my rotation. It was not planned. I just ended up buying a lot due to youtube reviewers like you lol
No regrets though.
Long runs: Hoka Arahi 4
Workouts and short 5-10k races: Puma Liberate Nitro
Tempo/threshold runs and 21k races: Saucony Kinvara 11
Trail:
Short, muddy: Saucony Peregrine 10/Altra King MT 1.5
Longer runs (ultra): Topo Ultraventure/La Sportiva Akasha
Plus a few minimalist shoes:
Merrell Trail glove v1
Merrell Vapor glove v4
Vibram Fivefingers
Nike Free RN
I've also got a pair of Altra Escalante v2.5 but I don't use them for running because I bought the wrong size and they're too sloppy :D
Long runs: Brooks adrenaline GTS 21
Trail: Salomon XA Bondacliff GTX 2
Daily: Nike Winflo 8 (also decent for speed)
For years I was using Karrimore Tempo 3, simply because they were cheap and did the job. When I finally decided to get a decent pair, I could feel the difference and saw it in my performance as well.
Easy/recovery/everyday- Asics Novablast and Nike Pegasus 37
Tempo- Adidas Adizero Adios 6
Speed- Adidas SL20
Race- Saucony Endorphin Speed 2
Trail Short/Muddy- Salomon Alpha
Trail Long/Technical- Saucony Peregrine 11
I will be running my first Marathon next year so will be on the hunt for new Marathon racing shoes- either looking at the Saucony Endorphin Pro 2, the Asics Metaspeed or the Nike Next % 2.
Marathon/Half - Brooks Hyperion elite 2
Tempo - Endorphin Speed
Long runs and recovery - Triumph 18 and NB More v3
Everyday: UA HOVR Sonic 3, Hoka Clifton 7, Bondi 7
Race and Workouts: Nike Tempo Next%
Trail: Hoka Torrent 2, Nike Wildhorse 6
Can never have too many shoes!
My rotation:
Daily trainer: Hoka Clifton 8
Speed/long run shoe: Hoka Carbon X spe
Recovery/ slow run shoe: Brooks Glycerin 19
Trail shoe: Hoka Torrent 2
Race shoe: Newbalance Fuelcell TC
My shoe rotation
I’ve gone overkill… but I have next to no injuries so I attribute part of that to my 5 shoe rotation…
Daily shoe: Hoka Rincon 2
Speed shoe: Hoka Rocket X (set my 5K and 10K PR) and or Saucony Endorphin Speed 2
Race Shoe: Saucony Endorphin Pro or Hoka Rocket X
Recovery shoe: Hoka Clifton 8
Trail shoe: Hoka Torrent 2
Love me a good shoe rotation! Mine looks like this:
1. Daily: Nike Pegasus 38
2. Speed: NB Rebel V2/Saucony Endorphin Speed V1
3. Racing: NB RC Elite V2
4. Recovery: Nike Invincible Run
Daily/long/trailish: reebok floatride energy 3 (75€)
Recovery: brooks ghost 10 (140€), (a bit worn out)
Speed/short races: nike zoom x elite 10
(80€)
Daily/speed: asics novablast (87(?)€)
Track: 20 min barefoot, than nike zoom x elite 10 (favourite shoe, I should dump them by now, but I can't)
Next (if there is a sale): saucony endorphine speed or speed 2
Six shoe rotating at the moment Ben.
Daily Peg 36/ Infinity react
Recovery: Invincible
Speed: Zoom Fly flyknit but trading these as they're getting old and feel clunky.
Race: Vaporfly 2
Track: Dragonflys.
I have a narrow foot and Nike have always suited me for this reason.
Daily / Recovery - NB 1080v11
Sessions - Adidas SL20.2
Race - NEXT%2
Trail - Hoka Speedgoat
Track - Dragonfly / Nike Streak LT SpikeFlat ('splat')
XC - Nike Victory 3s

@@BenParkes thanks !
It all depends on mood and what type of training I am doing what I choose to do my run in.
the Endorphin Shift is the daily trainer. Are you sure you don't mean "speed/pro" instead?
@@giovanbattistafichera8439 shift can be used as daily and speed. Again depending on your workout. The shift is great for fartleg and other speed sessions as they are easy to pick up the pace in.
@@StefanTerndrup I'm pretty sure that using the Shift for speed sessions is not what Saucony intended the shoe for, as it's the only Endorphin without a carbon or nylon plate. That said, it is a good daily trainer for runners below 75kg who go faster but in terms of versatility I think that the Speed is way superior
Daily: Evoride 1, Cumulus 22, Puma Nitro Velocity Tracks: Atreyu V1 Parkruns: Peg 37 shield
I totally agree with your daily shoe I love the Reebox floatride energy 3.0
Daily : maxroad 5
Tempo: speeds
Intervals or sprints: rebel v2
Thinking of adding a recovery or stability shoe.
Kinvara for Recovery? That's tough, mate. :)
Shoe rotation getting bigger and only missing thing now is a race shoe if I decide to go for road marathon (instead of trail ultras)
- Hoka Cliftons for recovery road runs
- NB 1080s for easy or long steady road runs
- Hoka Carbon X2 for long, speedy road runs
- Hoka Rocket X for short speed work/intervals
- Hoka Evo Speedgoat for recovery or long runs on trails
- VJ shoes for trails: MAXX for shorter runs, Ultras for longer runs. Both more aggressive on feet but needed when muddy.
Would make an ace kids TV presenter lol. Love listening to this guy.
3 x Invincibles,
1 x Adizero Pro 2 just up to 10k on local roads.
daily/recovery: a few pairs of True Motion Nevos, True Motion Aion; workout: Nike Tempo Next %, True Motion Solo; race: Adidas Adios Pro 2.
The asics novablast 1 and novablast 2 were the only shoes I used to train to break 3 hrs in the marathon. For race day I used the next % 2.
Daily: Clifton 7
Track: Saucony type A9
Interval: Carbon X
Race: Vaporfly
Daily: 1080v11, Tempo/Speed: Endorphin Speed, Trail: Salomon Ultra Glide, Recovery: Kayano Lite, Race: Next %
Easy: Nike Pegasus 38 & Salming greyhound
Speed: Brooks hyperion tempo & Nike zoom gravity
Track: kalenji AT Start (Im not a track runner) (Nike zoom gravity even here)
Trail: inov8 x-talon 210, inov8 mudclaw 300 and nvii Forrest 1
Race shoe: Nike vaporfly next%
As a elite athlete ( road, track and cross country) shoe line up look like.
1. Saucony triumph 19 (easy day)
2. Endorphin speed 2( faster training)
3. Canyon trail 2 (trail shoe)
4. Endorphin pro 2 ( for half marathon)
5. A9( 5 and 10k road)
6 spikes ( 1 pair for track and 1 for cross country)
Daily Trainer: Puma Velocity Nitro 2, Speed Days: Hoka Mach 4, Racer: Puma deviate nitro elite, Long Run shoe: Asics evoride 2.
New balance and nike have wide fee shoes? This to narrow?
All rounder ASICS Novablast, Saucony Speed 2, Nike Vaporfly to race, Saucony shift recovery
Daily & Recovery: Nike Invincible 1 & 2 (rotated)
Speed: Saucony Endorphin Speed 2 Runshield, Nike Tempo Next%, Adidas SL20
Trail: Salomon Ultra Glide
Orienteering: Icebug Spirit7 OLX
Race: Nike Vaporfly Next%, Alphafly Next% (not yet premiered)
And use Pegasus 37&38 as daily walking and playing with kids shoe
Previous that i enjoyed
Daily: Nike React Flyknit, Nike React Odyssey
Speed: Nike Zoom3, Saucony Speed 1, Kinvara (before i got achilles issues)
Shoes that didn’t work:
Nike Invincible (got knee pain, likely too squichy and enhanced my slighly unsymmetrical strike)
I have a 3 shoe rotatioin
Daily - Xero HFS . To help with my running form
Longer runs - Brooks Ghost 14
Recovery - Nike Invincible
Speed -- I hope to get some soon. 1st I need to get some speed lol
I’m an over pronater but trying to move away from stability shoes. I still keep some in my rotation though.
Daily trainers: NB 1080 v 11, Hoka Arahi 5
Tempo/Threshold: Saucony Speed 1, Hoka Rincon 2 (too narrow), New Balance Prism version 1
Long Run: ASICS GlideRide 1 and 2. Love them both!
Recovery: New Balance Vongo 5 (for the stability. But they are too firm. Looking to maybe replace with NB More V3 because they seem stable enough)
Race: New Balance RC Elite are in the mail and set to arrive tomorrow! Hoping they’re stable enough for a full marathon
Trail: Hoka Challenger ATR 6 (too narrow, looking to replace)
Daily : NB 860v11
Long Runs: Hoka Arahi 5
Speed Hoka Rocket X
Trail: Hoka Torrent 2

3. Recovery run: Nike ZoomX Invincible Run Flyknit 2

Rebook E3, Saucony speed, Hoka mach 4, adidas sl20. Winter and trail - Nike peg 37 shield, Hoka torrent 2, Salomon Ultra glide. Expensive to run in Sweden.
Reebok float ride 3 daily, Speed tempo/faster long run, Sketchers Max 5 recovery/long run, Endorphin Pro race and for trails Solomon Ultra Glides.
Easy: Rebook FFE 3.0, Mach 4
Intervals: Rocket X, Adizero Pro

This video is really helpful as always, thanks Ben x
my daily trainers: Asics Novablast, Asics Novablast 2, Hoka Clifton 6 & Hoka Clifton 7
my speed shoes: Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 37 & Hoka Carbon X 2
my slow pace shoes: some of local brand shoes with slim midsole, lightweight & cheap price
Easy run :- Skechers go run 7
Long runs or threshold runs :- puma deviate Nitro

All support shoes rather than neutral, shop put me in these from the start and I'm still in them.
Road: 2x brooks adrenaline 21s love them, nike structure 22, mizuno wave inspire 17, brooks reveanna11
Trail: saucony peregrine10.
Normally 4x for road, the reveanna is pretty shot
I only have all-arounders: brooks ghost 11 & 13, asics novablast 1, hoka mach 4, new balance 680v6, Saucony Clarion and most recently the Nike Invincible. I'm currently not doing speed work or long run, due to injury, but before I was using the Saucony for speed stuff.
easy - Hoka Rincon 2
race day - vapourfly 4%
sessions - Nike zoom streak lt 4
and a couple pairs of spikes of XC and track :)
Current 'rotation'. I have 5 pairs but use them on various types of runs depending on how my legs are feeling. Like for example I had a track session yesterday but calfs were sore so I used the Hoka Arahi 4 for a bit more stability. My speed suffered but I feel great today.
Easy/recovery: Hoka Arahi 4, Saucony Endorphin Shift
Intervals: Nike Pegasus 37, Saucony Endorphin Speed
Speedwork: Pegasus 37, Endorphin speed
Long Run: Endorphin shift and speed
Races: Endorphin speed
Trail: Hoka Torrent 2
I have 9 shoes on my rotation, 3 trail and 6 road. I record each shoe mileage on garmin connect so I like to have some newer ones on the go ready to replace those that will soon be recycled.
Only 7 pairs 🙈 in total but some are not used that often
Easy/ recovery and easy long runs: nike peg 37/ new balance 11v1080
Speedwork: nike zoomfly or nike turbo 1
Race day: nike vaporfly next %
Trails: salomon s/lab ultra 2
Track/ cross country: nike spikes
Daily trainer / long run - ASICS Novablast
Tempo / long run - Endorphin Speed
Race day - Vaporfly Next % 2
Hey Ben! Hope you are ok! My rotation: Saucony Triumph 18 for long run and the rest is Saucony Kinvara 12 (I have 3 pairs...love them sooooo much!)
I love this Ben......if you were brand loyal and the entire shoe rotation had to be one brand, would Nike just edge out Asics, then Saucony and Adidas following, POSSIBLY WITH PUMA a very, very rapidly improving 5th
Hopefully the high-end tech midsoles, become mainstream across all midrange shoes within 12-24 months, example Nike Peg 40, should be predominantly ZoomX and also flyknit or atomknit.
Mine is Asics Gel, Hoka one one, Adidas and 3 Nikes. My most fave is Asics and my Nike 😍
Almost everyone here is a neutral runner 😂
Im an overpronator and this is my rotation:
Workhorse: Asics GT-2000 10 (just retired a Kayano 26)
Speed/Tempo: Asics Hyperspeed
Intervals/Race: Hoka Carbon X 2
Yeah I also ran in "stability" shoes for a long time like the ASICS gt-2000s. I've now been running in endorphin speed 2s for a while, smashing PBs all over, no injury issues. I'd say give it a go leaving stability shoes behind and see what happens
Saucony Endorphin Speed 2 - Speed/Tempo
Hoka Torrent 2 - Trails
Looking to try the NB 1080 v11 for easy runs.
I have two "daily" pairs, one pair for long runs and a racing pair. I like Hoka One One and Nike. I need more cushioning for the long runs.
Please could you do a 2023 refresh Ben? Love the vlogs!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
1: daily runner - Nike pegasus 38
2: recovery - Nike invincible run 2
3: trail - Hoka speedgoat 4
4: treshhold - Hoka rocket x
5: intervals - New balance feulcell TC
6: racing - New balance RC elite 2
i dont like the pegasus that much so almost doesnt use them but the nike invincible run2 insted as daily, recovery and easy runs. looking for a new trail shoe looking into vj spark and saucony peregrin 12
I have the ASICS Novablast 2, the SAUCONY Endorphin Speed, the ADIDAS Adios 5, the ADIDAS Takumi Sen 5 and and spikes for racing.
Not even an Adidas fan boy, just the fit is right for me
Ran new balance rc fuel cell at London marathon they were great got a pb, thanks for that review
Daily: sacouny shift
Speed: HOKA Mach 4 and carbon x
Race Sacouny endorphin pro.
I have some over-pronation.
i love your content!👌🏻
Love your videos Ben. My rotation at the mo is: Easy/Long Run Asics Novablast, Speed work Nike Zoom Fly SP, Tempo runs Nike Zoom Tempo, Race day Nike Zoom Fly 3, Asics Magic Speed, Nike Zoom Fly Flyknit. I'm interested to look into the Saucony Endorphin speeds.
Lmao why would you use the nike zoom fly 3 over the tempo next%
