Never agreed with the hate on the Shining movie. I loved the book and I loved the movie. In fact, for most of my life the Shining movie was my favorite movie and the Shining book was my favorite novel.
I will have to go back and reread it again it’s been a while. I think it was the first King book I’ve read. I didn’t mind the movie but when they said they were making the Dr Sleep movie I thought it would have been the perfect opportunity to redo The Shining and Dr Sleep together instead of trying to make it a sequel of the Kirbert movie.
Seen the film a few times, book is in my Kindle waiting to be read. A quick question - you talked about the Jack character, but what about the Wendy character. I've heard that this is where Kubrick made really big changes - turned Wendy from the hero in the novel to the screaming/crying victim in the film. Any thoughts?

I have problems with the movie, but I do like that Jack never lays a hand on Wendy though he tries, and I loved the hedge maze.
YES!! 😬🪓
I love Stephen King. He's my favorite author.

Wendy feels definitely more a victim where things happen to her in the movie than in the book
I loved The Shining I used to read it during High School lunch break but the movie has Outshined the book for better or worse.
Kubrick’s film is superior to King’s novel.
