The problem is actually that the training data has an imbalance between types, and the architecture used can't correct for that mismatch. They way they pick it out, the weights are changed by running data through, so the more times one type of data goes through, it pulls the weights more toward that type.

It's actually just like shazam, not really like GPT. It "converts" an image into an encoding, and runs every other photo through that, then finds the photos that include that matching encoding. You could depending on the model architecture convert that encoding into an image too.

The end game will be AI facial recognition coupled with AR (augmented reality) glasses that the majority of people will wear publicly in the not too distant future. These glasses will be covered in cameras and sensors that surround the head and will be able to do real time searches and identification just by someone looking at you.
Facebook already uses facial recognition. And so does google photos, and probably apple photo library
They have these apps that show you aging, that seems really accurate. 😳
Sounds like the groundwork for an authoritarian surveillance state.
