Being able to walk away from competitive running SATISFIED is so awesome and IMO very lucky. Good luck with your move out to ATL! Glad to be along for the ride.
So happy for you. As someone who just quit D1 running last month, a couple years into doing it, I understand where you're coming from with wanting to get closer to a career you love. There is going to be a HUGE weight lifted off your shoulders :) you are an inspiration to other D1 athletes who need a little wake up call--competing is great and all but the growth that comes from learning new skills and meeting new people outside your little team bubble is better! So proud!
I'm an eighth grader, and I ran high school XC in the fall. Watching this channel inspired me so much. It pushed me and showed me all sides of running. Haha not to be cocky but I ended up winning almost every race up against seniors. It gave me so much confidence and I'm now obsessed with running! I can't wait for spring track, as indoor just ended. Even though you're moving on from competitive running, I will definitely continue to fallow ur journey fella!! I know your going to do great things and you have an incredible future ahead of you. Thank you for being such an amazing role model, sending love from New England❤️🏃♀️
Girl!!! I’m SO EXCITED FOR YOU! The fact that you can come out of your college running career satisfied is so great, honestly you should be super proud of yourself. So incredibly happy for you
So proud of you for making this decision, to come away from competitive running feeling happy and satisfied is so amazing, running is great but there’s also so many other opportunities out there and I’m so excited to see you embark on your next journey. And good luck with graduation, you got this!!
I ran track and cross country at U of O (Oregon). I graduated before you started though. I've found that distance running has helped me in my career. First of all, hiring managers are really impressed when they see Oregon Track on your resume (under college activities), if they know anything about track. Secondly, I've found I'm able to outlast everyone else in my office every night, by far. I'm known to be a very hard worker and tough. You'll do great. Good luck in this exciting new chapter of your life.
Congrats on the new journey! Honestly, getting to graduate and merge your passions is a dream come true. Enjoy ATL and this new side of your sport- can’t wait to see the vlogs!
Oh my gosh so pumped for you Emma! As someone who loved seeing you at Oregon just because my twin brother went there, I'll be bummed not to see the scenery anymore, but I'm soooo excited to see what you do in Atlanta!! Congrats!!!!
Super exciting Emma!! I have loved following your running at Oregon, but I am definitely excited to see where the future will take you in Georgia! Keep gettin after it💕
Good for you!-I always enjoyed your Vlogs and you will do great in your career in communications. From an ex-collegiate runner, not to worry the running/racing will come back to you in time! always exciting to have transitions in life....
Wow I randomly found your channel and have been watching since I myself started running maybe 6-7 months ago. Crazy how you’re moving to Atlanta and that’s where I’m from!! You’ll love it here!
So excited for you to start this new chapter in your life! I think stepping back and taking time to focus on academics and your new job is an incredibly smart decision. Running will always be there. Enjoy and embrace this new and exciting phase of your journey :)
Exciting things! I am a big fan of your content and am glad you will be continuing to vlog/make videos! I can also definitely relate to how hectic the weeks are getting. I will be graduating in May, and most days feel like chaos. Can't imagine how it is being even closer to your grad date. Best of luck as you finish out your semester!!
Good for you. I ended my college athletics earlier then I wanted for a mix of reasons, but professionally it's been huge. I don't think I'd be in the stable position I am at my age, in my field if I didn't step away when I did. Running is the best sport to be in too bc you can keep up with it so easily. Atlanta is gonna be a huge shift, but a good one. I hope you plug into a community quickly bc you'll def miss your people back west.
Congratulations Emma, such a big and difficult decision to make but sounds like it was the best move for you. I'm so happy you feel satisfied in all aspects of your life. This is a wonderful next step for you, you will do so great with this career choice, and anything you do! Congrats on this great opportunity!
Wow... I'm sad to see that the Oregon vidoes are coming to an end, but I'm so happy for you that you found a great job/career opportunity!!! Good luck, and I'll keep watching your Vlogs in Georgia!
Glad to hear you're looking forward to your next transition. You're selfie-running-talking videos influenced me to start talking to the camera about the recent races I've done. I think you'll enjoy Atlanta; it has some pretty exciting spots to visit.
What an awesome opportunity! As a fellow college senior trying to be an adult, I think it is great that you are ready to jump into the next stage of your life. Congrats!
im so so so excited for you!! and we are going to be on the same coast!! this sounds like a fantastic opportunity. Best of luck with everything. you are an amazing girl!
Ahhhh so exciting! Good luck!!! So excited to see what’s to come. (Also this reaffirms the need for Judy to have her own channel for more JPizzzzzz and Oregon content alright... 😉)
Congrats, I say with some sadness. I was never at the level you reached in your running, but I started running when I was 15 and am still doing it at 56. Almost 41 years now. I cannot comprehend typing the words "Why I am done running", until the day I *can't* run. The job thing is truly epic for you.....but I hope you will at least run for fitness or for your own head once you get settles in Atlanta. Jobs come and go, even the ones we totally loved on day 1. Running is forever. Good luck, and hope you really do continue these great videos.
Congrats! I’m happy for you! Georgia is quite nice I think. I’m originally from WA state so the east coast is a big change from what I’m used to but so far I have grown to like it!
haha, a few months down the line and you'll be back running, seriously though good luck in your new chapter, I only came across you a few months back, very enjoyable seeing your stuff, one thing is for sure, the weather in Oregon looks a lot like our English weather
I am really happy for you! Believe me, but wow im scook, cuz damn, who am i gonna watch for running tips and student athlete vids now?❤️ but proud of you!! Keep it going!!!!💃🏻
Emma!! I really admire your decition! I run for my Institution, too. My coach is Martin Pitayo, one of the best Mexican and world runners in 90's. Anyways, sometimes I'm feeling peaced off because of studying and the training is so hard before 2 hours going home. (7am to 7pm school/training + 3 or 4 hours going home->school->home) I've been following you long time ago, I'd really appreciate your advice :') Best wishes from México n.n
Congratulations on the new job i’m from atlanta and would love to get the chance to meet you in the future i’m 14 and running track and xc so maybe.....
Thank you Emma for your video! You look so excited and happy for your new career opportunity. It will be amazing to follow you and see your new adventures in Atlanta! Doyle Management Group is very fortunate to have you on their team. Thumbs up!
Emma you have your whole life to work. If the company that offered you a job wants you so bad then they will wait for you to finish your running career. It's only a few more months. I hope you don't look back when you're older and have any regrets. You're surrounded by young fun people. Enjoy life! You will be old and like the rest of us, wishing you could've would've should've! You will never be able to take it all back. I hope it all works out for you. My family and I made a trip up to Eugene last fall for the PAC 12 cross country championships, it is to bad we didn't get to meet you. You seem to have a lot to offer both as a teammate and as an employee in your line of work. Your knife skills.... You need to work on. Not many people can say they were a legit D1 runner like yourself who ran at U of O. Well done! GOOOOO DUCKS!!!
I actually decided to start working immediately upon graduating. I know for myself that it is time to move on, and have reached a point of satisfaction. This is a step I am taking to enjoy life a little more and move on to the next chapter! HAHA - thank you so much for your support.
Congratulations I'm so happy for you missed you in the last few weeks wondering what was going on glad you made the decision for yourself there's no one like you 👍your sisters are awesome also and they're all different doing their thing so again congratulations hope to see you out there and I know you'll kill it 😃
So incredibly happy for you! I’ve been following your journey via your vlogs it’s been really cool to see being a former Division 1 runner myself. I just recently graduated from school in May but I really miss been in the running community. Any tips to get myself back in there? I know working for a company involved in the running world is my dream.
The major problem with american distance running; just when you should be hitting your peak as a runner so many athletes quit competitive running immediately they leave college. Still, running is a voluntary activity so if your heart really isn't in it any more (and it clearly hasn't been for some time, or at least that's the impression I gleaned from your posts) you have made exactly the right decision! Keep running in some form, however; the fires might rekindle some day!! Good luck!
I am in 4th grade and i am doing a state project and i got Oregon for my state.Oregon is a wonderful state.I am a runner and i always watch your videos.I love them. What was your favorite part about running for Oregon? I am thinking about going to college there
Wow that job sounds amazing! I want to have a job like that--use my writing and marketing skills to still be involved with softball, my sport. And I live in Atlanta!
Aww I thought this was clickbait. I thought outdoor track was what you were most excited for? But regardless, congrats on this next step!! It takes a lot of courage and this video reminds me of my feelings leaving an ER tech job to start medical school in a new city where I didn’t know a single person. It doesn’t matter how your choices look to everyone else; you have to do what’s right for you. I always liked this quote- “There comes a day when you realise turning the page is the best feeling in the world, because you realise there's so much more to the book than the page you were stuck on.”
Will you still be running? Just as a past time and not competitively. I'm so stoked that you're making this move, you're a really good role model and inspiring other people to become comfortable with the uncomfortable
For fun of course! Will be taking a break from training for now though after a solid 14 years of straight grinding hah! Thank you so much, I really appreciate it!
congratulations on this move. This is why you went to college. There is more to life than seeing how fast you can run. good luck in Hotlanta!
Thanks Karl, I feel the exact same way! :)
I am so proud of you for making this big decision! Growth can only come from discomfort. BIG MOVES EMMA!!!
Thanks Ryan, appreciate your support always!
