The astounding rescue of a child dangling from a Paris balcony has caught the imagination of the world. Mamoudou Gassama - a young Malian migrant - met the French president and has been told he'll have his citizenship fast-tracked. Some have accused France's politicians of opportunism and hypocrisy - but most just want to pay their tribute to a true hero.

I think it was his destiny to save this child. Having left his homeland and crossing many countries, to end up in Paris, on that street, at that moment to save that child.... Destiny. Destiny to become a French citizen. It would be interesting to know more about his back story.
I think he made it his destiny. I'm sure there will be a movie. I hope they do an excellent job; there is so much to work with. He is handsome as well as naturally heroic and his brother is a gentle soul. I love how he congratulated the baby for hanging on for so long!

What an amazing individual. I wish him much good luck in the future. I hope the fireman job works well for him. What I would like to know is who were the two people standing on the balcony and why did they not lift up the boy themselves. Were they the parents? As a parent, I would have thought adrenaline would kick in for one or both and they'd lift that kid up quick smart.
Those people standing on the balcony were at the NEXT DOOR apartment balcony, and there was a barrier between their side and the side where the kid was. That barrier was preventing the people next door from easily getting the kid to safety. All they could do was to hold the kid to prevent the kid from falling, but they didn't have the ability to carry the kid to safety. Mamoudou went right to the actual balcony where the kid was and was able to carry the kid to safety which the others couldn't do because they were at the other apartment unit's balcony.
