Pixi, you're like a golden mine for every animator who's got no money for courses or college. I thought that Milt Kahl was my favourite, but now you're my number one old-school master who's literally here to answer questions, make tutorials for adhd people like me who get bored easily AND write a reply to almost (or maybe even all of them) any comment! You make me believe God does exist, so bless your soul, take care and please, don't overwork yourself for us, we don't deserve you, hahahah!
Thanks so much for the kind words and the encouragement Star, I am glad you find my tutorials helpful. I will do my best to come up with helpful content without over working myself!! :D
In these videos, I've noted how the motions can be broken down with circles, and timing charts. This has really improved how I animate overall. I also didn't know such a question had such a conventional answer.
Hello CherryCola 😃 Yes, in a way good Animation has only a few ingredients... but in a way it's like music, only 7 notes but endless possibilities of combination! ♥
I love this tip so much! It really makes the animations more life-like and more pleasing to watch! I rlly can’t get over the fact that they removed Mushu from the live action Mulan movie! He was a rlly good character! Either way, I love the animation so much! This is awesome, Pixi!
Dear Ribel! 😊♥ I am glad this tips can help. I agree with you about Mushu, he is a great character and it's a pity they didn't use it on the live action version of Mulan! Thank you so much for your enthusiasm, I really appreciate it!!! ♥😊
I find this really cool because it is something I've been doing in my animations without me really realizing. I think I've rationalized it as different timings, slow in and slow outs, and arc for the most part. My animations haven been smoother because of it. This was really cool to see! Danke!
Thank you once again Pixi. In all of my attempts at animation, I have always found my movements blocky and slow. This will really help me figure out what I’m doing wrong. I still have a long ways to go to learn to animate, but again, thank you for being a sturdy foothold for all us new animators. I hope you have a good day/night!
I'm always amazed by the clarity of your explainations. You make clear even the most difficult concepts. Really, you must write a manual from your clips. It would be an instant classic, just like Preston Blair's book. Sure, I would buy it without any hesitation. Thanks for sharing your deep knowledge with us.
THIS HELPS SO SO MUCH! And omg mushu is litterly like one of my all time favorite Disney characters I was sad when he didn't come in the live action 😭 lol but this was amazing I love this! 😁
Your videos are so informative and helpful! I like to think that the reason Disney animation is so eye pleasing to watch isnt just because of slow ins/slow outs, overlap and lots of inbetweens, but because its all used to communicate acting through characters that generally have a believable (if exaggerated for clarity) sense of weight and solidity to everything they do. It makes the characters 'feel' real, even if theres nothing remotely realistic about them. Bambi is probably the perfect example of that IMO. The characters in that film 'feel' like they could exist, even though the film doesnt look remotely realistic (outside of the deer having somewhat accurate anatomy) or portray wildlife in a way thats really accurate to the real life behaviour of the animals they're based off of (especially when compared to the Felix Salten book).
Hello Nicholas! 😃 Yes off course, you are totally right! With this initial tutorials I am mostly covering basics and technique and I will slowly build up to acting, thought process, believable characters and so on!!! Thank you for making that part clear to everyone!!! 😊
I love Mulan so much it’s one of my favorite movies!!!! It helped a lot thanks!!!! I always wanted my animations to be smoother and I love the expressions!!!! And congrats on 50.2k subs!!! Bye and have a Great day/night!!!
0:56 I don’t why I’m reimagining this as Brer Fox from Song of the South saying those lines. Idk, maybe I thought that Eddy Murphy would be a good fit for his voice.
Hi pixel ^^ I haven’t been watching your videos lately due to college but you impress me with every single animtion u do AHAHSHDJ ;w; congrats on over 50k by the way ;w;
Pixi this is so helpful thanks for that! But I have a quick request! Could you do a tutorial on how to simplify character designs for animation! Thank you
I know I don’t comment on your videos much anymore, but this is very helpful! You’re already at 50k! I can’t believe it! Hope you have a good day! -Frosty, now DragonBoard.
Sorry for my english again so i will ask to be sure. Should you try to delay parts of the character to avoid symmetrical movement in the animation? Is this what helps to have a smooth animation? Sorry pixi I'm kind of slow today hahaha😅❤ thanks Pixi for your amazing vídeos! A love this a lot!❤
Could you do a video on smear frames??? Like I know you are supposed to draw them and they help your animation and I know what they look like but I don't know *how* like what to I stretch? What do I squash? It's confusing and I can't find any videos that explain how to draw/what to draw for the actual smearing of the frame.

i am having difficulty visualising how to apply this into my animation process. when we are animating this. Where should we start? do we find our key poses and then use the circles as guides to figure out their motions?
Hello Finmacle 😊 Exactly, you do the KEYS, then the BREAKDOWNS, then you draw the "Arcs" and figure out what every body part is doing: ua-cam.com/video/tMW0cgzdYZY/v-deo.html If you go to the VIDEO session of the Channel and scroll down, there are TONS of tutorials that describe all the Animation Techniques and Principles in a simple way! :D ua-cam.com/users/PixiGagsvideos
This is so helpful! Seeing my favorite animations schematized like that, with easy dots and lines makes everything easier to understand and animate smooth animations!
Can someone explain for me. I remember I animated once and the art where I add tons of in between and try to play it back and the animation doesn't look as fluid as the time I did less and moved the character more for a frantic run animation and you could noticeable tell it was more fluid...my non animator friends were amazed and I told them I wasn't trying to do that and it just happened. Did I get lucky or is there a technique to draw less and be more fluid vs draw a lot and not move much or realistic or bounce enough and it looks less fuild. All I can do to explain it I'm self taught.
Hello Niche, usually if your animation follows the basic principles, it will look smooth also if it's on 2's, 3's or 4's. Basic pribciples like Arcs, Spacing etc..
@@PixiGags Thank you. I think that I followed principles without knowing and since I'm an amateur i fell back into stiff animation. I just got lucky. I just winged it at the time. Then the stiff stuff was because I moved things every frame, added copy frames between each after i was told it would help, and played it at 15 fps. Bad showing XD. Knowing the rules saves time and money :)
