Watching this makes me smile, but also makes me angry at Hollywood. Grant could play any part & pull it off, but notice the only times the Oscars nominated him were when he did dramatic parts...yet just about every actor will say that the most difficult & scary parts to do well are comedy. He was the star of many of the most successful comedies over 25 years, plus one of the biggest box office stars, yet was never nominated for any of them....incredible.
wonderfully done! he was the consummate actor- comedian, drama, romance- and for a man who supposedly said " everyone wants to be "Cary Grant" - I would like to be Cary Grant!"- he's left an indelible mark in cinema- wonderful sense of timing. thanks so much,
I have this evening been watching some clips from some Cary's other movies. I laughed so hard I cried. When he played a serious role, all I could think was what a talented actor he was. There will never be another Cary Grant; one of a kind! I LOVE AND MISS YOU CARY! He lived in Palm Springs at one time which is about 10 minutes away. I want to go by and see it. A friend of mine owned it for several years. That will be a memorable trip!
Thank you for your coment and sorry for such a late reply. I come back to this post so rarely. I hope you managed to go see Cary's house. Maybe you will let us know how it was one day.
I love this vid always been a fan Of Cary grant, He aged so gracefully. I can't believe he was 59 when he did Charade. It's a shame he never recieved a Oscar as a actor. He did get the Life time achievement award. Even today I still can't believe he was 58yrs older then me.When he passed away it broke my heart. Thanks for this Wonderful Tribute to a great man.
Cary Grant was one of a kind. I was a teenager when he appeared on the Academy Awards to be given an honorary Oscar. My parents were marveling at how great he looked. For a man pushing 75 or so, I thought he was amazing. He walked like a man in his 20's. I watched almost all of his movies and I love every one of them. He was a consummate professional, good humored, gentlemanly, and talented. Not to mention devastatingly handsome. RIP, Mr. Grant. We miss you.
Amazing tribute, you chose some of the best scenes of cary's most successful and famous movies. he was so talented and so good looking, definitely one of the best actors of all the times. R.I.P. dear Archie
When Cary Grant died during his tour in his one man show in 1986, the iconic director Billy Wilder, who had hoped to cast Grant in "Sabrina" and "Love In The Afternoon", said, "Who will we now try to emulate?" He was equally adept at light comedy and drama, as evidenced by his work in "None But The Lonely Heart" 'Penny Serenade" and "The Philadelphia Story" and "Charade". He made four of Hitchcock's best films, particularly "Notorious" and "North By Northwest". One sees Grant's influence in Sean Connery's and Roger Moore's and Pierce Brosnan's portrayals of James Bond during the 60s, 70s and 90s.
When Cary played himself against type in Notorious, Suspicion, An Affair to Remember, tatz when i realized how gr8 an actor he is. But, then again he is far greater and more natural in comedies..and a natural gymnast. So, no need of stuntmen unlike 2day !!
Cary Grant, later movies offer an older thespian, yet as brilliant as ever. Funny how I read people say that he was more handsome, when he aged. To me all 82 of his movies offer different profile of our astute Cary. His charisma on Silver Screen has no match. Hollywood gave us many greats, like Jeanette Mac Donald , Nelson Eddy, Mario Lanza, Carole Lombard, Humphrey Bogart, Vivian Leigh, Lawrence Olivier, Kim Novak, Gregory Peck, Alfred Hitchcock, William Holden, Sean Connery, ingrid Bergman, Olivia De Havilland , Audrey Hepburn, Clark Gable, Anna Magnani, James Stewart, Frank Sinatra. That is to name very few. Yet none of the great has as much to offer as Cary Grant or had left a legacy, that could measure up to the magnificence of Cary Grant. The Man, the thespian, the human being. Read and hear Barbara Grand on YOU TUBE. In her moving, delightful narrative for all of us in "La Mujer.....". She gives her beautiful, lovingly written documentary there, On YOU TUBE. To us. i recommend it
That's a great editing !!! Thanks !. Somedy said in a commentary about Cary Grant's class : he looked too much as a gigolo to be classy !!! it's just about appearance : Brown hair, Brown eyes and the photos demanded by Hollywood !! He is quite different than a " William Holden" for example .. But a gigolo in life ; certainly not !!!
Thank you Cary Grant for all those beautiful movies, love you and miss you...!!! You was one of a kind....💖💖💖

He was also great in Houseboat, Once Upon a Honeymoon, Mr Blandings Builds His Dream House and Topper.
This was wonderful. You picked some wonderful scenes that really highlighted Cary's comedic ability, and his perfect sense of comedic timing.

Humphrey Bogart has been named the No. 1 Hollywood star, but Grant was far better in quantity and quality of good movies.
Wow, nicely done!

In any given situation, I don't think you can go far wrong by saying to yourself "What would Cary Grant or James Stewart do?" : )
