- Adam Rich, best known for starring in the television drama-comedy Eight Is Enough, has died on December 7. He was 54. The actor died Saturday at his Los Angeles area home, a family member confirmed the news. No cause of death has been revealed, but no foul play is suspected.

Such a shame, Eight is Enough was one of my favorite shows when I was a kid, unfortunately a few of them went down a bad path after the show ended. For those who don't know the shot at 0:55 is from the original pilot, Mark Hamill was cast as the oldest son David but was replaced with Grant Goodeve for the rest of the series.
The story goes that Mark Hamill was in the hospital, then got the role of Luke Skywalker, then Grant Goodeve was cast, ( sidenote, Grant Goodeve sang the theme song 😊)

I used to watch Eight is Enough all the time! That was a great show! So sad. He was too young. I didn't realize that he was in trouble with drugs and arrests. But, I'm not surprised. Many child stars end up this way, unfortunately.

He was such an adorable little actor on "Eight Is Enough". It's so sad to see the young actors dying suddenly. Sadly, this will continue to happen as Hollywood producers use child actors and toss them to the side when they feel they are obsolete.

RIP to Adam Rich aka Nicholas. Watched about every episode and really could relate as I'm about his age. He was cute and funny, my favorite character of the show, I had the same hairdo then as Nicholas. It tugged my heart after hearing the word of his passing, so sad

I loved "E is E" as a kid. And of course I could relate to the "Nicholas" character because we were the same size. Adam was only a year older than me. And FYI, I didn't know this as kid, the show was based off a real couple that adopted a bunch of kids. RIP Adam...

Despite he won an Oscar at age of 12, his demons, drug and alcohol eventually took him untimely death at age of 31 .

I was a High School Junior when Eight is Enough aired on Primetime. Although the other cast members were funny Adam Rich brought laughs on that show. 54 years old is too young for him to die. I know he had his troubles. Rest in peace Adam.

Well, it is sad when a person dies for sure. This person was not notable or famous, but sad. Most likely due to not having the life he hoped for. The stress and strain on a body with booze and drugs is very hard. This person just fit a role and after, he was just not attractive, and did not have any kind of notable personality, but he felt differently, and he did not want to find a job with anything. Life is hard stuff. He is feeling good now for sure.

I grew up watching this show and a young kid. The values they show in front of camera why don't they practice in their daily lives like reality. Unfortunately they make bad choices and some has tendency do other illegal substance abuse. Maybe they didnt have proper parenting and rest is up to fate and a ctual reality. He was kind of cute and adorable as a kid and so.etime they take thi gs for granted. May he rest in peace.
