Big fan of the IVG for texturing a mix. Can bring out some nice detail and thicken things up. Really flexible plugin with the ASYM and high/low focus controls. The DC1A is great for ancillary instruments, bvox, electric guitars to control and add some bite. Simple is good because you use your ears more generally.

Hey Luke! Thanks for watching and well put - I like that these plugins are super simple but really practical and useful. They sound great and are well-designed overall.

@@sageaudio Thank you for all the great information! Been using the Tone Booster limiter alot while mixing an E.P. for a client, NEVER would have known about it if it wasn't for your videos!!! Thank you again!

I was watching the video and noticed how much I've learned with little pieces of information you provide. I wondered if you would consider requests for technical questions that are a bit specific. Here's an example, what happens to low-end instruments when I side EQ with a high pass to tighten the low-end? I know that in principle bass instruments tend to be mono but in orchestral music that is the exception, not the rule, e.g. double basses are often on the right side. So what happens to the instrument? How should we deal with it?
No need to answer, obviously. It's just an idea for a type of content if you wish to explore it and the kind of synapses that happen in my head. :D

Hey Synaptic Schism! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment - in the case of orchestral music with a panned double bass its best not to use a high-pass filter on the side image since this would cut out that bass. It may be a little difficult to make a full video on this topic - but please don't hesitate to suggest more!

@@sageaudio I've been trying different things, e.g. treating the orchestra as a big band on stage, mono the basses, that sort of stuff. All very experimental. :) I'll keep posting questions. If you guys like one feel free to follow it up.

I use all of these on pretty much every track, MJUCjr on the Mix Bus, Instant vibe, warmth, I have the needle hardly moving,
DC1A on every guitar Lead, and Synth sound, just makes most things sound sweeter, and the IVGI2, I use on Over heads, Guitars, sometimes Bass, synths , loads of things, I also have the Klanghelm SDRR2 Tube saturator (the one that comes free with Presonus stuff), I use that on Guitars all the time.

Been using MJUC on my busses and the other on my master to mix rock, they sound amazing! Paired with my trusty Slick EQ and some basic tools from Reaper, I can get a great sound, even if I'm recoding just with an SM57 (for drums and vocals, bass/guitar I record inline lmao)
