What I loved about the manga is that author can handle both the pivotal moments and the everyday episodes that feel like a school album or a memory compilation. And man the oneliners, the millenium ones and the instability one, chills man chills every time.
Don't worry, it's not a 2-hour episode, it's 4 episodes that just aired back-to-back. So you can just watch as many of them as you have time for today, episode 5 airs next week
As a fan of the manga I would say that Frieren is one of the best fantasy stories I have read/watched. Knowing MADHOUSE, they will probably make it a good adaptation. As for the anime, I think they decided to split it into a 4 episodes premiere instead of 2 hours length one episode, or maybe that's what has been released outside of Japan.
@@Subzero-jd1bs Altough in similar setting, those two are very different series and it just depends what you are looking for. For me personally, I like Mushokou Tensei a lot, but it's nowhere near my favourite isekai, let alone animanga and Frieren probably is somwhere in my top10.
This series is absolutely one to check out, been following the manga for years and its easily one of my favorites. The writing is great and the melancholic vibes are so good.
I remember reading the first few chapters of Frieren a few years ago. I was blown away by the concept of seeing the Hero's Party from the viewpoint of the near-immortal elf. One of the few times I can remember crying while reading something.
My brother has been looping it at our house since it dropped, and not even our parents are complaining, you know it's real good when even your boomer parents love's it!
Man, I'm so watching that 2 hour episode in 5 minutes, when it's out. The opening is absolutely awesome, and the show looks great from what was shown before release.
If you want to know more about Frieren, you can check out Gigguks video on it. He doesnt really spoil anything aside from the start and more talks about the idea of the manga anf the feel of it.
I know nothing about this series, but I feel like i've seen images of the main character forever. That combined with this amazing song, now I'm hyped! Really looking forward to see what this is about.
Frieren is my favorite manga, so I was really hype for the anime, and I had incredibly high expectations. And Madhouse somehow didn't disappoint me. The animation is beautiful, the voice acting is really nice, and the ost OH THE OST ! The OP and ED are flawless and I love them (I looped the op for the entire day yesterday), but I unironically want to listen to the BGMs. And the face expressions, Fern pouting was really cute in the manga, and she still is in the anime. Frieren may become my favorite manga AND anime.
I'm not sure YOASOBI would've been my first choice to make the opening for Frieren, but damn if they didn't knock it out of the park. Can't wait to watch our favorite gremlin elf wizard get eaten by mimics in full 4K.
As a fellow manga reader, people are seriously sleeping on Frieren. On the other hand, Yoasobi giving love to Frieren alongside the adaptation does put a smile on my face. Btw, Luke, when I checked the Yoasobi channel they had two options for subtitles Japanese and English. No idea if they are the official ones but just throwing it out there. You know the CC option next to the video settings when you watch YT on a computer.
As a manga reader I'm SO exited for it, can't watch it rn, but it will be the first thing I do when I can. To put it in the most spoiler free way possible: it's about Frieren, an elf struggling with problems of being an elf and discovering her humanity. There are compelling characters around her and while the magic isn't the focus GODDAMN is it a creative and interesting system. It might be my favourite one, because it just feels more magical than others.
Great opening and great anime! The lyrics of the song are very well connected to the story. This story is by no means grand or flashy. However, for some reason I had tears in my eyes from the first episode. The passage of time is sometimes very cruel. I thought it was a slightly sad, but heartwarming story.
Why Frieren is so popular is that it is unique with its perspective, and that we lack classic fantasy with no isekai bs in recent. Also it is an award winning manga, also it was hyped up by Gigguk couple years ago (I personally read it after his recommendation). But as for reaction... I mean you can try, and I will be watching, because I would rewatch it anyday anytime, but you should know that this is completely contemplative anime! A lot of it's runtime is just beautiful shots of characters doing routine accompanied by charming soundtrack. It is completely purposeful and adds to the experinence, so don't be afraid, it is a very, very great piece of animation. Watch it alone or watch it with us - you'll have a good time)

Just coming back after being half way through the "first episode" (4 episodes they released at the same time) and I think you'd definitely like the show. So watch it when you get the time to.
I'm not sure if you already have (and maybe this is a little late to say now), but I'll highly recommend watching the English version of the song too! It's just a beautiful song! Kinda like how the English version of IDOL is, the lyrics are sadder than the visuals. It basically portrays Frierens' admiration of Himmel (to keep it very short) and makes you understand the story and her feelings towards him a lot more. In case you haven't watched it: GO WATCH IT, NO TIME TO WASTE!
"Brave" is probably the hardest to cover among all the Yoasobi songs, to date. Esoecially when someone tries to ask you to how the duo does it live with the band. 😂
I am curious to know how you feel about this song now that you have seen the anime and know the lyrics..? I cry every time I listen to this.. It's so beautiful

(And the refrain part kind of inspired by elvish music, (lol i hope this makes sense))

The first time i watched the anime i expected something low.. like your typical "defeating demon lord adventure" like any others. I was shocked to know that they already defeated the demon lord at episode 1 and everyone went to live their own lives with the memories they had during the adventure. And longer after that. Himmel's death set me up that this sh is non like any others. It such a melancholic anime.
Luke, best way to describe this anime is Violet Evergarden-like story but in a fantasy world with Mushoku Tensei-like animation and art design, another way to describe it more precisely would be ART.
Frieren was so amazing ♡. Please check out at least the first episode! Without spoilers, it's about the end of the heros journey. It starts AFTER the group of heros defeated the demon king and what happens after their journey is over.
React to the ending song too when it comes out(may be 5 or 6 october) And yeah dont skip the anime at all cost you will have a amazing quality and emotional time with this show
Frieren is great at making a 24-minute episode feel like a movie. It's not like other modern-day anime that use 24 minute episodes or 12-episode season formats to push out crap. It uses all of the time it's allocated for world building and character development. It tells what's necessary for the story to progress. Nothing more, nothing less. It doesn't use any excuses when it comes to animating either. Sure, you can have a good show with regular animations and art styles, but that doesn't mean you should opt for a less appealing look. It excels at putting in as much detail as possible to make it feel like you're aging along with the cast, and I love it. It's not afraid to kill off characters or lean into darker themes, which really sets it aside from other series. Rising of the shield hero started strong with ok animation and excellent storytelling. But that all went down the drain with the second and third season where they omitted as many details and cut as many corners regarding the plot and animation as possible all for the sake of fitting into a 12 episode format. Even though Frieren has been given a larger allotment, it still doesn't shy away from pouring as much detail into every episode as it can. Unlike rising of the shield, it does it thoroughly, too, as it doesn't just add plot points for the sake of time. The show doesn't need over the top action or monologues to stand out. It balances each different moment, which makes it that much more endearing and great. Time skips aren't just "5 years later." Each moment set some time later shows physical changes to the people and the world. You see how people and places age despite the gradual changes being off-screen. Frieren, in my opinion, shouldn't be the standout for this seasons anime. Rather, it should be The Standard for all anime going forward. This truly has become one of my favorite anime, and I don't think that'll ever change.

I watched the first ep i cried
I watched the MV i cried even more
It was wrong to watch the MV after the the first ep DONT do the same mistake it’s better for your heart
I need more tissues this isn’t good at all cuz i cried in the 2nd ep as well
Should react to the ending too its really good
Try the opening of "the demon swordmaster of excalibur academy " it's call "1000 nen ai"
