- As Senator Kamala Harris is announced as Joe Biden's vice-presidential pick, we host a debate on her record as California attorney general and San Francisco district attorney. Niki Solis, San Francisco Public Defender, holds that "she was the most progressive prosecutor in California," while Lara Bazelon, a professor at the University of San Francisco School of Law, says Harris supported a number of "regressive" policies during her time as attorney general and DA. "Her office fought tooth and nail to uphold wrongful convictions, that in some cases kept innocent people in prison," Bazelon notes, adding however that Harris has shifted her views on many of her former positions around criminal justice issues, policing and the legality of marijuana. "She’s taken to the streets after the killing of George Floyd. She has stood up for marginalized people. And she has been a very, very strong voice on the importance of racial justice."

You have to choose whether the whole country has to eat a whole bowl of dog shit or eat half a bowl of human shit. It's your duty as an American. Also, if you vote for us to eat the wrong bowl, or vote for us to eat a bowl filled with food instead of shit, then it's all your fault that we have to eat a bowl of shit.
Note sure what happens if you vote for America to become one giant unified human centipede.
Bernie made the most sense back then. But the Democrats offered no support. Anything less is just a charade and a waste of time.

@@krokodyl1927 I hear you. I just spoke with my friend extensively. And grassroots efforts seems to be the only viable solution to moving things forward. Voting may or may not matter, when elections are rigged, voting software hacked, whistle blowers jailed and snuffed out, good candidate suppressed... Well, we can pretend that things are working, but I'm not seeing the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel.
Democracy doesn't work without educated voters that understands the mechanism as well as how to make the system do what is supposed to do. Except the system was set up by those heavily invested in profiting, with great disregard to humans well being. They're sociopaths incapable of nurturing the rest, despite rising up to the positions to do so.

There's a huge difference between executing your job pursuant to the law and being a law maker. Had she not executed the law as a prosecutor, she would have been a failure. As a U.S. Senator, she had the opportunity to try to change the laws.

Niki Solis made Lara Bazelon look silly - some outsider with a couple issues on appellate cases, that are not true, versus a seasoned and passionate SF Public Defender that actually knows the work that Harris did as far as restorative justice. Not much of a debate but bravo Niki Solis, for setting the record straight.

It doesn’t include Solis’s response to most of the claims Bazelon is making-which in many cases Solis refutes or debunks. Watch the longer version if you want a more accurate version of the exchange.
