    Hey Guys, i noticed alot of you have the same question about having a gap, here is how i fix the issue.
    If you have a gap there are two ways to fix this.
    1. Heat the seal with a hair dryer until it covers the gap and leave it sit for 10minutes until it cools down.
    2. On the bottom of your door, there is a plastic clip near the hinge that helps the door close, 99% of the time your plastic clip will be broken and this can be easily repaired and replaced for a few dollars - its called a fisher paykel closing hook.
    if neither solutions fix the problem please let us know.

    Third bloody video I’ve watched and you guys are the only ones to show the positioning of the new seal! We initially had it sitting under the plastic track at the top but positioned correctly at the sides and couldn’t figure out why it didn’t seem right. Taking that shot just a little closer in would have been handy though, I know, seems like a stupid clarification to need but you gotta understand guys, my interaction with the fridge is purely give and take, I give it food and then take it back again, occasionally I’ll give it a bath but never have I ever bought it new accessories. Ever. 😳🤣

    Great DIY video that helped me install a new seal. Had a small gap on the hinge side which I fixed by wedging some cardboard into the seal groove and leaving it in place overnight. By next morning, the rubber had taken the new set - problem solved! If it hadn't, I would have tried your hairdryer suggestion next.

    Thank you so much. After having a bad experience with a company that charges $145 for someone to come and verify the information you’ve already given them, I will be changing the seal myself and saving $300 in the process. They charge $100 on top of the parts price, plus $200 to fit it in. Highway robbery!

    I don't normally comment on refrigerator gasket videos, but I watched this to see if there were any 'challenges' with replacing a gasket on a Fisher & Paykel fridge as mine has a bit of a sag it in. The video showed how easy replacement was, and also how to troubleshoot a gasket that doesn't seal properly with a hair blow dryer. That is an awesome trick and seems to have cleared up the problem for now. Thanks for posting!

    Hi - I have a mouldy door seal on the fridge/freezer (Model E522B). Can these be removed (easily by looking at the video), cleaned, but more importantly can the seals be successfully replaced after cleaning?

  • @grittsy

    Ta for vid but you didn't really show a proper closeup of the seal profile side that clips in and what part of track to aim for. Sort of intuitive for you guys but not so much for less handy folk.

    Hi guys (this is my fridge!). I've got a seal from F&P, but looking at the new seal in the shipping box, it has a tough white plastic strip which the new seal seems connected to. I've double checked all the part #'s - from the F&P spare part website, to the shipping docket and the part # on the box... it's supposed to be the push in seal (just like you video).
    Can you advise if that plastic strip is provided to simply keep the gasket in shape or is that the wrong seal? The one of my fridge appears to move (when I tested) exactly like the one in your clip here, there is no hard plastic piece...
    Thanks

    Awesome video. My question is, why does it cost an arm and a leg to pay someone to replace the seals if it’s so easy :( it’s a bit unfair.

    • @FridgeSeal
      @FridgeSeal  2 роки тому

      I think the reason it's expensive is because the Labour costs in Australia are extremely high to cover the workers wage and most companies installing seals are a Franchise so they have to pay extra fees when they complete each job - This is why we tell all our customers to try to install the seals themselves first.

    After hours of mucking about, including replacing the closing hooks, I discovered that the track that the seal sits in is bowed. Everything else is flat and square, but the track is bowed. I cannot figure out how to remove the track. It looks separate from the inner skin, but I can't see how to remove it. Any suggestions?

      Is the fridge beeping at all?
      you might need to contact Fisher Paykel customer support and troubleshoot over the phone to find the issue. It's possible you might need a new thermostat - Or you could turn the fridge of for 2 days, leaving the doors slightly open so it can completely defrost as reset itself, this could fix it. But it may be thermostat or something else. Hard to say for sure.

    Chaque fois que j'ouvre la porte du congélateur, l'alarme de porte ne cesse de crier après quelque minute. Quel peut être la cause? Ce peut t-il que ca soit le seal de porte qui soit trop vieux? Aider moi stp.

    Can the door be slightly twisted. Mine seems to be very wide gap at the top?
    I've not ordered seals yet as I've only just noticed the issue

    • @FridgeSeal
      @FridgeSeal  3 роки тому

      Yes you can get a twist in the door. You can try to physically bend the door back into shape, just try not to put too much force on the hinge. You may also need to adjust the door.

    I would like to know how long the seal should last on model no. E442B? Also do I need to change the seal if there is a slit 5cms long on the freezer door?

    • @FridgeSeal
      @FridgeSeal  3 роки тому +1

      Tough question, there is no time frame. the seal could last 100+ years if it was cleaned correctly and you never split any drinks or food or got finger nails near it ect, there are many, many reasons seals split and most of it is due to the user. You can most likely super glue the seal if its a small slit, just keep an eye on it overtime, if it gets worse you may need to replace it.
      Most of the time if there is a small split it doesn't affect the seal, there is no air getting in or out.

    • @kat.p9756
      @kat.p9756 3 роки тому

      Thank you for your swift reply. I will try the superglue. I am disappointed the seal has split after only 5 years! I am very careful but the seal seems to be very brittle.

    So the gasket is sealed on the chamber side, but nobody sees there is a gap between the gasket holder and the door at the up right corner ? How to seal that gap?

    • @FridgeSeal
      @FridgeSeal  3 роки тому

      hair dryer will seal the gap

    • @zhengzhang9554
      @zhengzhang9554 3 роки тому

      @@FridgeSeal Not the gap between gasket and the fridge chamber side. There’s a gap between gasket and the door side when you close, especially at the corner. I think it’s glue issue

    • @RizN91
      @RizN91 3 роки тому

      @@zhengzhang9554 You can use a small dap of super glue or even bluetak. It isn't necessary though because the magnet inside the pvc seal will form a perfect seal with the cabinet so no air will escape. it's only for cosmetic look.

    It all looked so easy, but the reality was very different. Replaced the seal easily enough, but now there is a sizeable gap at the top half of the door which no amount of blow drying will correct. Sigh.
