My Dad grew up in Newport. He was born in 1928 and lived at 1422 Dewey Ave, Newport. His father, my grandfather worked for the railroad but their last name was Carr. The house in this video looks very similar to my Dad's house. Do you know if it is close to 1422 Dewey? Did you mother know my Dad - Bill Carr?

My Uncle Is the one recording this. Him and Jack were real good friends. He met him when Jack moved to Beaumont TX.

My Nana Gina was reading the Arkansas Democrat Gazette and told me that "You Are My Sunshine" was her and her sister's (my Aunt Sandy) favorite song to harmonize to. They were always harmonizing, even in my childhood. I'm going to go to my Nana's house in a few hours to show her the video because she wants to know if she recognizes that house as the house she and her sister sang near all the time. Will keep you posted.

This house he talks about had a whole family of brothers and sisters, they would sit out on the porch or back yard and drink beer, cuss up a storm but very close family. The brothers would work, y the sisters would cook and clean. So on the quite days, you could hear her singing you are my sunshine, y rocking. Back and forth in the window...Geneva Simon's and bettysue Simons was the ladies...
