My father's favorite song. (And one of mine as well). He used to play the vinyl single of this Jack Clement record all the time, over and over - in the late 1970's, and all through the 1980's, and he'd sing along to it at the top of his voice and make it fun and funny so we'd laugh and join in. Later on in his life (late 1990's) I recorded the vinyl record song into my computer and converted it to MP3 - complete with the vinyl snap and crackle and pop - so he could listen to it. But by then he had dementure and could not remember the song at all - could not remember that he had even heard it before, let alone that it was his favorite. But I remember for you Dad. RIP. I still love this truly beautiful song. Tears streaming down my face every time I hear it .... they are now as I write this.
Wow , this song says it all !!!! I met a girl when I was 10 , we were the best of friends ! At 36 she was called to heaven , I'm 62 now and I dream of meeting her again heaven , my true friend I met when I was 10 .................
. I pray for you to find God Almighty that you feel his love in your heart and feel his warmth to know he is real because if you don't you will not make it to heaven my friend God bless you ....
Your memories are beautiful. But everyone has chosen to live their entire lives
Rest in peace Cowboy. This is the best I've ever heard this song sung........Wish I could have met you back in the day. Hopefully we'll meet up on the other side.....
@@jimlepeu577 I've head Jim Ed do the song Jim, and he did a fine version of i,t, But I still have to go with Cowboy JACK....i liked Sandys version also
As I sit here, listening to the Cowboy while sipping some of Mr. Walker's finest' I have come to the conclusion that it doesn't get any better than this. I used to listen to his show on Serius XM and miss him terribly. He had a way of expressing himself that this eighty-year-old former - shall we say one who has enjoyed alternative means of enjoying music and would give his soul to be able to play one coherent chord on his custom-built guitar. May you rest in peace Cowboy and hope you connect with my son somewhere in the afterlife.
...beyond ~ beyond insanely touching😍
he refused chemo, he said it would impair his work, he had music to produce in his studio, what a man. bless you jack.
I remember this from many years ago -- Still brings me to tears -- Lovely
His voice came to me after 30 plus years since my nan and I used to sing along to him. And he sounded exactly the same here as he did in my beautiful memory! What a voice 💯 %
this has to be the ultimate love song .
Jack Clement will always own that song no matter who sings it. So emotional, gets me every time. I first heard on radio in Melbourne Australia in 1974 and I love just as much in 2020
this song brings me to tears , i love this song , he has a beautiful voice
1. What a seamless transition. Excellent video production.
2. His voice got even richer as he aged. Like Kentucky bourbon.
I've never had me some Kentucky bourbon, maybe some day i could send you some Cape Brandy and you some bourbon.
Sandy, thank you so much for writing this song. I first knew it from Crystal Gayle’s two recordings in the 1970s, but when I first heard Jack’s Elektra version in 1978, and often played it on my radio show, it cemented its rightful place in my heart, and it has never left. Jack’s lovely daughter sent me an autographed copy of the LP in 1979, and I never had the chance to thank her for it, but at least I can thank you for your sublime creation, and for sharing this magnificent video with us. Thanks to Jack, thanks to Eddy, and a lifetime of love to you!
Absolutely the best song in history.. love Jack Clement… 🤙🏼🇦🇺
Best version of this song...what a beautiful song
The next is the lovely Crystal Gayle. But this one takes first prize, likely because Eddie wept.
There are many singers to this song. All good in there own ways but Jack Clements deep baritone voice is by far the best rendition.
Love to watch these studio versions,
love the way how Jack lights up a smoke before he puts his voice to the track. You can even hear the sound of the cigarette lighter as he lights up n move away from the mic 🎤 😂😂
The crossover from a young Jack to the older one @2:21sec is just superb with an even deeper tone/note.
@@francyn497Yep, I listened to them all and Carol Kid’s version is a very close 2nd. It was featured in the Korean movie called “Shiri”. A must watch movie.
One of the most beautiful songs I usually listens to...
So touching and it sooths my heart and mind...
Incredible friendships, I call the father of Memphis and Nashville music.
Love this song for a long time. But for him to sing it brilliant and I enjoy it even more.
A perfect song for the ages by Jack Clement. Thank you!
What a great discovery for me. Beautiful song, beautiful voice. Even Eddy Arnold got chocked up. Thank you for posting. A real gem.
You can give without loving
but you can never love without giving....
- Robert Louis Stevenson
I have listened to Jack singing this song so many times but he still does it for me …. rip Jack xxx
I can't help myself x whenever I flick through u tube x I Play this every time xx
Great Voice Eddie Arnold. All Time Great Love Song. RIP Sandy.
This is the best version.
My all time favourite song, even though it makes me sad sometimes. Think the only reason Waylon didn’t record this song was that he knew no-one could sing it better than Cowboy Jack
My first time to hear a male version of this fave song...it blown me away...it melts my heart. Loved it..thanks Jack. RIP.
Love the way he yanks out the ciggie for a quick puff to get his heart started.
Beautiful song....speaks to my heart.
this man was a musical poet.his influence over many greats in the music business put them on the path to fame & don't forget his talent as a recording man in the studio also his r/roll days boy what a career r.i.p jack
Tears fill my eyes listening to her lyrics. RIP my friend Sandy Mason Theoret.
Jack Clement is a magician of voice. This song brings me calmness and peace. Thank you.
First heard him do this song over 30 years ago, I'm still awestruck.
This song wrenches at my heart. So does the video : (
OMG! I heard this fr a car radio years ago n since then i start dreaming! I love this song guys!
Beautifull, makes me think of my beloved mother, gone just one year but she was best. God take good care of her please..she did her job on this earth just Perfectly.
Class....pure class

His beautiful voice never fails to move me.......wonderful ❤️
Thank you Jack, I needed a good song tonight!
Wow!
I wished I was that somebody..
Beautiful
The Cowboy will always be making people laugh somewhere. Or cry but in a way that you needed to.
One of my true inspirations
RIP Cowboy
See you one day !
Have loved the lyrics for many years. With the passing of time I now live them. Beautiful presentation.
I love this song I play it everyday
You'll all be surprised at all of the song he has written very talented legend! I know he didn't write this one but soo many artists whose names have never been spoken wrote songs we've been listening to for ages.

What a beautiful voice he had.
makes my heart hurt to think he's gone and except for the music he left we'll never hear his voice again.

Fantastic....and very moving...
You are truly missed.
Beautiful
The editing is amazing too.
Although Waylon is my favourite singer, this is probably my alltime favourite song Just love it Can listen over and over again
He does this song so much better than everyone else.
Indeed he does. I interviewed him when I was a journalist in Nashville and got to tour his wonderful in house recording studio and take some pics. He was a true Nashville Hero.
Wow! Memories.
Love this
It doesn't get much better than this.
I'm afraid it does get better, Crystal Gayle did best with this song in my opinion. If you like a man who puts his makeup on though better then you do a woman who puts hers on then this version here is for you. lol
When he talks about putting his make up on, he's talking about being a clown. This brought me to tears...
wonderful, thank you.
A dream that will never come you’ll always be a dream forever
I've listened to When I Dream, from Nana Mouscouri to Crystal Gale, Jim Ed Brown to Roger Whitacre..so many but I find Jack doing it best of all.
One of the best ever. Thanks
When I dream I dream of you ... omg ... Jack you just melt me completely....this brings me back to my memorys of the love of my life .... Tony .... I loved you more than life ... I still do ... and I wait for the day I die and see you again ... my love ... my life ... maybe some day you will come true
@rhonda,, music like this touches us in so many ways and brings memories flooding back.
I hope that when the time comes, your wish is granted.
I cry every time I hear it
Eddie Arnold in tears.
One of my favourite songs >>>> so many recordings of it and I love them all .
Oh so lovely!
Never knew he’d recorded this. It’s beautiful. Had only known it from Crystal Gayle. And later from Roger Whittaker.
Oh my goodness, 🌹 of all the times I've ever heard this song. I've never heard this song
Just Beautiful brings tears to my eyes
Much covered, never bettered. Worldly in the best sense of the word.
I had the privilege of seeing Jack Clement perform at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass On his own set then impromptu with Kimmy Rhodes. I have photos. Precious memories
I'm so touch of this just I don't knew . Sooths my being every time I listen to jack clement Best rendition ever..
It’s such a beautiful song it touches my soul, I wanna weep like a child.i didn’t see Eddie Arnold anywhere though ? Jc Liverpool England
Hi John, Eddie Arnold is sitting off stage to the right of Jack. The camera pans that way and ea is crying. This song is so beautiful and I am so amazed how jack's voice stood the test of time.👍
solid gold
