Let’s analyze the video: 1st you see how small and cute she is. 2nd you see she is barefoot (story below) 3rd You see her making her “Wish List” of suggested changes to the song. 4th the band leader taking note of the changes. 5th Angelina is holding a candle with “Screemin’ Jay Hawkin’s (original artist 1956) picture on it. 6th the old soul in her voice. She is the youngest published author in Norway. Angelina wrote and her Grandmother illustrated a book about why she sings barefoot. She was on a trip to Iran where her grandmother is from and met a street girl weighing people for money. Angelina sat and talked with the girl. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, a doctor but that it could never happen. Angelina told her to never give up hope. This was 9 yo Angelina letting it all hang out. She was later advised by voice teachers to protect her developing vocal chords, so later performances of this song were more restrained. This performance is literally for the Music History Books. So, you've seen her at 9 & 13, so I think it's time to hear the current Angelina, a few weeks before she turns 19 on Jan 10, 2025. She 1st sang the Whitney Houston version of I Will Always Love You, when she was 18 months old in her crib. He wrote and performed it in 1956 and Angelina based her performance on the original, although she did make some subtle alterations to both lyrics and melody. She is the youngest published author in Norway. Angelina wrote and her Grandmother illustrated a book about why she sings barefoot. She was on a trip to Iran where her grandmother is from and met a street girl weighing people for money. Angelina sat and talked with the girl. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, a doctor but that it could never happen. Angelina told her to never give up hope. The girl complimented Angelina on her shoes and Angelina noticed her scarred bare feet so she gave them to her, and the little girl told Angelina she would pray for her every day. Angelina sings barefoot to this day to remind herself (and the world) that there are still children in need. All book proceeds go to charity.
At this age AJ's voice sounded like a youngster. However, her technique, vocal control, vibrato and stylistic choices made it clear that she was destined to become the greatest "vocalist" in a very, very longtime. Personally, I do not consider her a singer, to me that is an insult to her talents!
