Hi from NZ I have a possum and merino beanie. Light weight and great warmth
Love the possum! I have a possum jumper. So good!
Sherpa fleece-lined down beanie for cold winter trips are awesome.
Checking that out for sure!
No longer made but still available used is the Patagonia Alpine Fleece Hat. It is a wonderfully envelope shaped hat. Deeper than a true "beanie" so it pulls down over your ears and over your eyes at night! Warm, breathable, flexible, and the XL fits over a massive Mellon! Hoods are great too.
That looks like a great piece of head wear!
i use a two beanie method. I have a light neck buff that i use for a light beanie and when it gets cold i have my down been from outdoor research that i love
`
Been thinking of a buff for a while. Maybe I will get one for my next trip
@@mowsertas highly recommended it’s multi use sweat rag/ beanie and it’s the perfect addition to a beanie because it’s a scarf too
A light neck tube is good and multi-purpose, not just for winter but for summer also can be worn in many ways depending on what you like and need at the time.
Normal merino or wool blend tuque (beanie to y'all) is pretty essential from end of October onwards here. To ramp it up, I use a buff/neck gaiter to cover back of the neck too. Smartwool ones are good because they're not overly thick and don't shrink in the wash.
I LOVE this feed back. Awesome and thank you 🙏
I'm a die hard 2 beanier. Cheap polyprop for walking as I sweat a fair bit + an old Macpac softshell one for camp/hut (annoying they don't make it anymore).
Great topic. Haven’t seen a video highlighting beanies. I got mine from the thrift store for a few dollars but it would be awful for hiking. 🤣
Thanks! A Subscriber actually requested this topic so I thought why not! I love a good beanie. One of my favourites back in the day was one that i found on a hiking track!
What happens in the rain? How rain & water-repellent are they?
e.g. What about a Paramo (Grid?) Beanie?
Not much water repellancy but both the Smartwool and Montbell dry quickly. Haven’t seen the Paramo. Will look into it!
IF wet enough to annoy you and put a jacket on, then the hood covers the beanie and it can dry/get less wet.
