I can see why this has touched so many people. It is a rare combination of vivid lyrics, strong delivery, and a emotional connection right from the singer to the audience. Very nicely done.

I cry every time I hear this song. Such a sad beginning but a happier ending

Cause' Daddy had a little too much to drink, and Momma didn't want her to feel the pain...she felt, but she still felt the pain. So if you're listening, oh could you give a helping hand, to your daughter. Well, that baby grew into a boy, who became her pride and joy. He loved her like no man could, and her heart felt peace cause' she finally understood... God's love. So as she laid there in that bed, ninety-nine years old. She grabbed her son's hand and said "There's something you must know": "There is a God out there who heard my prayer, I was lost and afraid, and I had no where else, to go. I had no clue.. what to do, and then he sent me you. So if you're lost and afraid, and you feel so alone, don't worry child. Cause' there's a Father who will love you as his own. Just like he loved His Daughter." Like he loved his daughter.
I write books, and I listen to this while I write. It's not to fast or loud; it's calming and it makes my brain like a meadow of flowers; full of color and imagination/inspiration.

The most painful song I've ever heard, with a sweet upturn at the end.
My sister has struggled with depression for a while now and has had problem with alcohol and drugs. I think this was caused by our father leaving and losing contact with us and bullying at school. Eventually, everything led her to try to commit suicide several times. She got pregnant at 14 and had her son when she was 15. After she had him she was transformed through love and gradually turned back into the person she used to be. Despite getting slightly better, she still couldn't cope because of her depression and gave him up for adoption after struggling to look after him for 6 months. Unfortunately my sister's story doesn't have a happy ending like one, but it just goes to show that the things that go 'wrong' in life often really do make us better people. Thanks for writing this song, Molly. As you can probably imagine, it means a lot to me.
I'm thankful for my mother for taking care of me, 17 years all by herself along with other three kids. She's my inspiration, I love her so much. She told me about my dad and I'm glad I never met him, he's a bad person. I don't have a father figure but, I'm fine without one. I am thankful for God helping my mom along the way.

I was moved to tears... my angel came to me at 26 and being a mother to my daughter is the best thing that I have ever done.
This made me cry within the first minute. My dad left when I was about 4 years old. I never really had a father figure so this song reminds me of my own life so much.

I don't know what to do because i support gay rights but my dad's parents are really heterosexual UGH. (I'm also lost in sexuality terms, it pisses me off when they hate on LGBT+ people!!)

There is a God out there. That God is the God of this Song, which moved me to tears. A God of love, guidance, forgiveness, and light. A *true* Father-Figure who watches out for all of us, regardless of race, gender, religion, orientation, etc.
One who loves us not equally, but *uniquely*, for not just our Strengths, but our Weaknesses as well.

This song popped up on my feed. I hadn’t heard this song in almost 9 years, when I was a single first time mother-to-be living on my own an hour away from my friends and family. It was a very difficult and dark time in my life full of uncertainty. I will never forget the moment I first heard this song, a wave of sadness, calm, peace, and hope washed over me. This song will always have a special place in my heart. Now that I’ve come across this song nearly a decade later, a different person from who I was then, I will share this song with my daughter who I was pregnant with at the time this song came out.

I listened to this song when it was first introduced on youtube and got such popularity. It moved me more than any song ever has. As a fellow musician, the biggest flattery of all is moving your audience with your music. You have done a fabulous job and made me tear up a little. This is such a touching song and I wish i could put into words how proud i am for my generation of musicians. Keep making music. You have found your calling.

Two days before I heard your song I had written God a letter telling him how much pain I was in and I kept asking him over and over "why did you let this happen to your daughter" at one point I was questioning God all together. I had written the letter to him while having lunch with my daughter. Anyways I put it away and went about my day. As an only child who was raised by a single mother, I can not Express how hard this song hits me. My mother put me through private catholic school, nearly on her own. Among other things. I had an amazing childhood. Sports, friends, lots of good memories.

I lost my Dad to ALS a few days ago and honestly this song has helped a lot
I remember when I found out I was pregnant a friend played this song for me and I listened to it all night and just cried, feeling so lost. Now I listen to it again with my 2 week old son laying in my arms and cried just as hard but this time it's in a completely different way. I'm so blessed and thankful for my son!

Goosebumps and tears. This gave a message to me that was much needed. Yes, I'm still a teen and haven't dealt with some of the things mentioned in this song, but the message was so strong.
I don't believe in any gods, I find them utterly ridiculous and I won't go into why the idea of prayer is fallacious, but I find this song deeply moving and beautiful, I remember when my mom died, I remember when she stroked my head. I remember when the last words she spoke were a prayer and how deeply it hurt me. I was angry, she knew I was an atheist, if only I had one more moment with my mother I could tell her how much I'll miss her, how sorry I was that she was gone forever, but I can't. I used to think her last words were to spite me, as if to tell me that all the times I debated faith with her didn't matter, she was still deluding herself in the end. While the latter part might be true, I now know why she whispered the prayer. It wasn't to spite me, to have a last-ditch effort to convert me. It was for herself. She needed closure, she needed to cling to the last shred of faith she had.
And that just tears me apart.

She was whispering the "Glory Be". Why she would praise something she believed made her lungs sacks of tumors is beyond me.
