A Tribute to the life of Pepper the American Hedgehog Warrior

- With great sadness, I want to let everyone know that sweet little Pepper has gone to compete in the Hedgehog Warrior course in the sky on the morning of Christmas Eve 💔. I didn’t want to make anyone sad for Christmas and I needed a little time to put together this tribute video for her so I waited to let anyone know....this highlight reel could have been over an hour but I tried to keep it under 10 minutes...
Though it’s tough to not have Pepper with us anymore, I had a sense the time had come and you can take some comfort in knowing she took her last nap peacefully while resting on my chest.
Besides being an endless source of positivity for me during a rough 2020 with my business being shut down (this montage shows I had A LOT more time on my hands than I realized), Pepper made her mark, literally worldwide, in ways I could never have imagined when I uploaded her first obstacle course video back in April.
I want to thank everyone from her Vets who cared for her at Red Bank Veterinary Hospital to all of her adoring fans across the globe for the thousands of positive comments, shares, kind messages and personal stories of how a cute little Hedgehog positively impacted your life in 2020...it’s thanks to all of you that her legacy as the original American Hedgehog Warrior will live on forever. I almost cried when I saw that pepper had passed away, but if peppers owner is reading this, just know that you are not alone, something that has helped me feel better is listening to songs about pet loss and looking at pictures of our passed away pet, and knowing that I'm not alone. I hope this helped someone who has experienced pet loss. weather if it was the smallest hamster or the biggest horse, we all love them no matter what.
RIP sweet Pepper, I hope you having all the snacks to eat and pillows to knock over. ❤️ So sorry for your loss.
I don’t know if you realize this, but I cannot imagine a more poetic way of providing hospice for the beloved warrior than *you literally building rainbow bridges for them to cross this entire past year*. Rest in peace, Pepper. 🦔❤️🌈

I enjoyed the hedgehog obstacle courses earlier this year. Pepper had a good life while alive. That's pretty all we can give our animals.

I’m so, so, sorry. I lost my boy hedgie, Fievel this past summer. Before he passed, he and I were both huge fans of Pepper. I’m sure he’ll want her autograph over the Rainbow Bridge.

In a year full of surprises (mostly bad let’s be honest) I never would have expected to fall in love with a hedgehog. But Pepper was no ordinary hedgehog. She was a warrior par excellence, and she had great power. The power to distract us for a few minutes from the bugged up world, and make life feel normal for a bit. Rest in peace your precious little soul❤️

Thanks for showing other hedgie guardians that it is fun to give pets lots of mental stimulation and exercise. Pepper was an inspiration in many ways. And, you have not only been a great guardian for our little friend, but you brought joy to millions during a time that, otherwise, has not always been cheerful. Your good humor and love shines on. I know Pepper benefitted greatly and knew every minute of every day that she was loved. ❤

Goodbye Pepper, you kept people happy and smiling during quarantine when some lost hope you kept us smiling during the darkest days, you inspired us to keep fighting and keep pushing on no matter how hard things got.

Oh, I'm so sorry. I couldn't watch this video for a while because I just couldn't deal. I never met her and I know it's weird to be sad about someone else's pet, but every time someone I follow loses a pet I do feel sad. It's happened a lot this year. But she had a great life and we'll always have the memories. She may be gone, but she'll never be forgotten.
