Have you been tempted to use a folding phone? 🤓 For one of my favourite videos about my best tech purchases ever: ua-cam.com/video/48vET0WDkqc/v-deo.html Download the new version of Opera Browser for free opr.as/Opera-browser-Arun-Zflip
From a neutral POV, the S23 ultra or Pixel 7 pro were more suitable for comparison, mostly because I feel like the video seemed to lean more towards highlighting the disadvantages of a foldable phone, not really those of android. Maybe I'm wrong...
You missed the point of the video. The video is for those audience that ask themselves “should I switch my iPhone to a foldable?” It’s not android vs iOS.
To be fair, Samsung's Smart Switch app works fairly well when switching from another Android phone (even from a non-Samsung one). I know from experience that switching from Android to iOS is a very difficult and buggy process (as I've had to help a friend do this), so it doesn't surprise me that the other way around is also problematic.
mkbhd also uploaded a same video yesterday trying to show ios superior something is sus also bare in mind its time for iphone 15 series to launch never expected this from marcues and arun
As you stated, I think the transfer problem was because you went from an Apple to an Android. When I transferred from my Galaxy S10 to my S22 Ultra I had none of the issues you had. The transfer had only a few hiccups, usually due to older apps. But, the other issues, especially the Apple ecosystem, can never be matched with an Apple/Andriod interface. Apple to Apple will always win. For obvious reasons.
I have a plan. I already have an iPad. And I’m getting the Samsung Z flip 6, I can use the iPad for watching and doing some video games while I can use phone for calling people that I need to because I’m going to sixth grade!
He wants the small flip screen on the back an s23 is basically an iphone that doesnt work well in his apple ecosystem and i think he said the z folds are too thick and heavy for him
I do always wonder why so many tech-tubers glaze over and ignore Apples anti-competition practices. Locking you in to an ecosystem is the opposite of what technology should be doing for us as users, but the review community shrug their collective shoulders and say 'apple be apple'
Because 90% of the population buying phones aren’t getting a new 1k phone every year. Maybe once every 6 or even 10 years so it doesn’t really matter. Also, Apple’s ease of use is high priority for most people buying tech because they don’t care about phone performance that much.
You can't have cake and eat it too. Why haven't Android made so many of these "features"? Because they can't. It won't work cross-device and cross-platform. That's why only Apple can do a lot of this continuity stuff. Yes it locks you in, but the alternative is not having the features at all, not having the features work cross-platform.
bruh you can have the cake and eat it too. They obviously can, samsungs ecosystem is pretty good too. Apple blocks it because they want more money. For eg. there are literally third party apps that allow you to use airdrop with android and mac, google has rcs which can talk with imessage but apple refuses to support it because green bubbles help them sell more iphones. its tech, not magic @@FPSKelly
@@FPSKelly as far as i'm aware pretty much all of the continuity stuff is possible with windows and android if you are willing to spend the 5 minutes to download something like iriun webcam and set it up on your phone and pc (btw iriun webcam basically does what continuity camera does, real useful stuff, i think it's been around longer too) it isn't something only apple can do, though i will admit that because of their tight control over the hardware and software it makes it significantly more seamless (in most cases)
Android does have an AirDrop equivalent now and it's called Nearby Share. I am surprised you never found out about it considering it's right there in the share sheet in this video at 11:23. However, unlike Windows you will need a third party app on Mac called NearDrop to use Nearby Share because Apple does not like to work with industry standards. It's funny that the very reason you cited for staying with the iPhone (the ecosystem) is why I will probably never move over to the iPhone or even the Mac. I really like that Android and Windows work really well with each other and even try to work with MacOS and iOS as best as they can. The only reason they don't work as well with the Apple platforms is because of Apple themselves. Case in point - Windows does allow you to take phone calls from your iPhone or Android phone on your PC using the Phone Link app. Apple only allows this for iPhones because they don't care about you if you use an Android phone. I prefer using platforms and devices that don't have that level of elitism about themselves and just focus on the consumer regardless of which other devices they have.
Seems more that Arun was just toying around with the Flip for a week. He stated he needs an iPhone to work with his Mac and other apple devices. Apple products are incredibly complimentary to one another.
most of the issues you mentioned are either an issue with apple being apple and the fact that a feature (folding the phone) can also have downsides. There are of course tradeoffs but the fact that you're scrolling more because the screen is too little (7:50) is optional, you don't have to fold it to display content, if you want you could not fold it and set it against a stand just like the iphone.
Arun is most likely paid by Apple, he took a chunk of time to market Apple products. Arun gives a pass on Apple and then proceeds to blame Android, despite Apple being anticompetitive
@jefferykingsley2140 I'm just an individual that notices all the different times Arun markets Apple products in videos that are supposed to be about other products. Arun is bought and paid for, ever since he became buddy buddy with Marques.
I switched from using Android for over a decade to iPhone 13 pro max last year. I spent 6 months with iPhone before switching to s23 Ultra. I see the appeal of iPhone but i find Android integration and configuration options to be superior. I'd love to try a folding phone but i don't want to be stuck with it for 2 years.
honeslty, wait another 4 years before getting a foldable phone, especially from Samsung, by then hopefully most of the common issues with the foldable phones will be solved.
I liked the comparison, but would think the S23 ultra would be a better phone to compare. You're making hardware compromises when going with a foldable device. Especially in camera. I would love to see this redone with a flagship non foldable device.
just switched over from an iPhone 14 Pro to a Z Flip 5. i have some of the same gripes in this video, but i am having a 98% positive experience with the switch. the battery life and camera quality difference are my #1 concerns and are what i hope Samsung can rectify going forward. if i could get S23 quality photos on this and a little more screen-on time, i'd probably never own an iPhone again. only other gripe is that videos and voice memos get way over-distorted in loud scenarios (i'm a musician so i take a lot of videos at shows).
yessss i want to switch so bad but ive had an iphone for 7 years and i don’t want the hassle of transferring all my important stuff. wish apple would make the effort to work better with android
no, that´s not the reason, the reason for an ecosystem is simplicity to work between different devices. That´s the main reason. That's a very big advantage for Ios comparing Ios and Android. Android just don't have this same great ecosystem. Apple¨s ecosystem doesn't prevent you from switching, You just wont have the same accessbility working between for example a Samsung phone and a PC.
@rogerlindgren18 that's quite a naive perspective... Sure, apple has a better ecosystem, but they most definitely try their best to make switching and working with other brands as hard as possible. Which IS pretty user-unfriendly
@@cindyhernandez2263 why would apple make it easier for their ecosystem to work better with competitors? they obviously want to better their own ecosystem with that time they would use on others.
2:50 If you pull down the control panel fully and click on the 3 dots on the top left, then click on "quick panel layout", there should be an option called "brightness control" which will allow you to have the brightness bar appear on the initial pull down.
that was the point of what he was saying lmao, he said that it gets annoying not being able to swipe once and adjust brightness, and then went on to say that the ability to turn the feature on is an advantage
I enjoy the hell out of my Flip 5. I had the 4 but quickly upgraded. I have always been team Samsung and android so I have no issues at all. I’m happy with my phone. I think it’s harder for iPhone users to leave unless they are really fed up with the state of Apple iPhone products. I have seen comments of Apple users leaving to switch to android just to get a fresh experience with the Flip 5. So it really comes down to what you are looking to do with the Flip 5
@@rayquazahere8529Agreed, the whole ecosystems thing is way overrated. Especially because it’s not 2015 anymore, there’s lots of ways most devices are compatible with devices from other brands and operating systems, even if they’re not quite as optimized. There’s always a workaround.
@@jokast8861 get the flip 5, it is way more configurable and you are open to do anything you want on it without jailbreaking it like you need to do on an iPhone
Lifetime apple user. Made the switch and have stayed despite the shortcomings discussed, many of which I agree with. Apple is wielding too much control. Lost me when they removed the sim tray -a total power move. Love the flip 4. Compelling design that i like more and more every day. .
Apple is holding my 1 spreadsheet hostage til I buy storage. I used to be a telcom tech, I removed enough pics, extras and tried to optimize. So now I can't update that one sheet, on my mac or phone that was the last straw. I know how processing, memory and BS work. I am going to switch, I want less time on my phone and more time in my real life.
@zefanzahedreza5883 maybe do it the right way and not hate on it lol edit: sorry I thought u said switching over, didn't know u said "smart switch" in that case I agree
Normally I love what Arun does but even to switch from a flagship android to an android foldable would have the same problems. Wouldn’t a better comparison be a flagship Samsung Galaxy or Pixel instead of their foldable products. (Btw I’m a full apple user but I was looking forward to a better/fairer comparison)
Also flip phones dont really make any sense in practical usage, they are actually worse than classic smartphone because in order to get full experience you have to always unfold it and have ugly ridge in the middle. Fold phones are those that make actual sense because folded you have a "normal phone" and unfolded you get a tablet.
@@damara2268having actually held a Samsung flip (the five I think?) the crease is almost nonexistent, and even harder to notice when you're cruelly watching something
I believe he already made this video, and i think he didn't want to make one video twice since it's just useless + the galaxy z flip 5 is newly released
I would believe that he wants a phone that can switch him from iPhone to Android and one thats really unique in a way that the iPhone cannot match. He already stated in other videos that he wont be switching to a S23 and the Pixel 8.
11:40 One word: KDE Connect. Initially made for Linux - now works with whatever you throw at it. Completel free. Completely open source. And still more reliable than most of the paid, propietary competition. EDIT: Reminder to self: Never write jokes on popular videos. The amount of people who feel the need to tell me that "KDE Connect" is more than one word makes me sad.
I use it and love it BUT the 2 main issues wont make it a perfect solution: 1. you need to be on the same network. there is no sharing without internet. You could create your own home VPN. 2. If for some reason the connection break, you have to restart it. Sometimes the other device is not found, rarely sending doesn't work
im personally glad i took the plunge on the flip 5. im in love with how easily it slides in my pockets and i dont have to worry about it falling out. i never wanna go back to using a regular slab.
What you mentioned about the ecosystem dependency is so real. I switched to iPhone from an all Samsung ecosystem (TV, phone, earbuds, smartwatch) and it was so difficult. I couldn't use Siri to remotely control my TV whenever I couldn't find the remote (Bixby is so convenient that you basically don't need a TV remote control anymore, so I ended up not even searching for the remote anymore) With the iPhone everything felt so chunky whenever connecting the devices, not to mention that Samsung smartwatches don't work with iPhone, starting from Galaxy watch 4. I eventually ended up returning the iPhone and switching back to Samsung. It's crazy how you easily you can get stuck in an ecosystem without even realizing it, and then not being able to leave it easily.
Samsung and Google home integration is awesome. Samsung has an absolutely brilliant modular smart home app and Google's is very simple. You can use both without conflict and it is so damn convenient.
I was stuck in the Samsung ecosystem because of Samsung Pay. I had a problem with Google Pay not accepting all my cards on their platform. So I had to stick with Samsung Pay(and a Samsung cell phone), if I wanted to pay with my phone. A little while ago, I checked again to see if I could add all my cards to Google Pay, and I could. I hate being tied to one cell phone manufacturer, so this was GREAT news. Google Pay can be used on ANY phone (including an iPhone). So I ditched Samsung, and switched to an Asus ROG 7. Since companies stopped making phones with removable batteries, my primary consideration for purchase decisions is battery life. The Asus ROG 7 has a 6000 Mah battery, compared to the next closest competitor (Galaxy S23 Ultra) with a 5000 Mah battery. Definitely better battery life than my previous Z Fold (4400 Mah). In regard to iPhone? Even if I liked IOS, I would never switch because the largest battery they have is around 4300 Mah, with around 5 hours less battery life than my ROG 7.
I love the concept of a foldable I just would never buy one until the screens aren't flimsy anymore. I'd rather they stick two glass protectors on the screen halves
I really wish there was a way they could just make the inner screen out of glass on the parts that don't move, and somehow seamlessly switch it to plastic in the center where the fold is.

I believe there's a setting to move the brightness slider, but there's an easier way to bring down the notifications. Swipe down anywhere on your screen. No need to remember which half of the status bar to swipe from. The face unlock is NOT from Samsung. It's the default Android face unlock. The Galaxy S8 line was the last Samsung to have the IR face unlock. I wish they still had it, but I also like not having a notch in my screen. Honestly, the captured audio from the closed mode sounds better to me. The flipped open audio sounds compressed, but I do like the color saturation more from the inside camera. The outside camera looks washed out. Even in the yoga photo, the inside camera photo would be the one I'd keep despite being a bit less sharp. What I'd like is a case with a nub to help with one handed opening. I know I'll get a folding phone, but I'm going to wait a few more generations. The Fold is currently more appealing than the Flip.

Comparing a top of the line iPhone with an innovative but relatively new foldable Android is kinda unfair tbh. Yes the Z Flip5 is iPhone level expensive, but it's a folding phone that compromises a lot for the form factor.
It’s not meant to be a comprehensive apple vs. android comparison. The question is if this folding thing for which apple has no equivalent is now a good enough feature to make up for other downsides it has as compared to his regular phone, which happens to be an iphone.
@@Sir_TophamHattthen the title shouldn't be switching from apple to samsung, it's misleading and super biased just like the mac vs windows video he did recently.
It's crazy how much your videos have changed over the years. Instead of obsessing over the specs and what everybody else says ( like most reviewers ), you give us real life problems and benefits of the product. You tell us YOUR expirience, which most actually don't.
I was in the same situation, but yesterday I returned my Flip 5 and ordered the S23 Ultra. This video clearly addresses my problems. I didn't know this video would be released.
As an s23u owner, I am seriously considering fold. But once I saw how video-watching experience from inner screen wasn't drastically better than on s23u (that is with no zooming in video, mind you), I changed my mind. Fold's aspect ratio needs to be improved.
Foldables are still a rather young product. I understand they're fresh and exciting but they're a bit of a trap since they're still very flawed in a lot of ways compared to the tried and true slab smartphone design. People switch to foldables looking for something fresh, but once that freshness wears off they often realize it's a worse overall experience (not everyone though, some people obviously can live with the drawbacks)
I love how the Z Flip 5 shows a preview of the person on camera taking a photo of him/her. This would be useful, so that you can see what they are up to while you are maintaining your pose.
I find the appeal to the flip phone really is to bring a phone back to being a communication device rather than an all around media consumption device. For someone like me who has no games on their phone and prefers to watch youtube and netflix on a TV or tablet my phone really is just for communciation. I personally would go for a flip for the same reason as Arun, to get away from the noise and simply focus on enjoying life without doom scrolling.

@@suggest_me_a_nameAs an iphone user who switched from android I largely agree with all the points he made and I don't think he is sponsored. The timing is a bit sus and I am sure it's intentional, but I don't see the grand conspiracy.
If you already use your phone just for communication, buy an older phone or maybe an iPhone SE, don't see the point in the flip. You get less battery life and more annoyance
I really don't get why some people want to use their phone to do everything... They should leave some for their laptops and IPads. I almost never watch movies on my phone, it's not just enough screen to do that.
tip: there is an option in samsung where there are three dots beside the brightness tab that lets you switch on "show control on top" so when you swipe down only once, the brightness tab appears
If you use a MacBook and not a Laptop and if you use AirBuds and not JBL or Harman Kardon or other earbuds then yes iPhone is better. But I use a PC and a HP Laptop, and JBL earbuds and prefer them over the apple lineup. It's pretty clear the title is clickbait. The real title would be "I tried switching from a bar phone to a foldable", and Arun also implied that it was the main comparison. Other than that, great video.
The samsung eco system is pretty good with the phones, buds, watches, soundbars, and tablets. For the most part the play nice together. And Dex is great!
When I had an S10 I loved Dex…until one day it black screened and somehow did a full system reset…All apps and settings wiped (user data still there). I thought it was unrelated to Dex until it happened again…and again. Samsung Support was very helpful in suggesting I try doing a full system reset 😂 I’m sure it’s better now, but with all the time it takes to customize the phone and settings, this bug cost me weeks. My time is too valuable to BELIEVE Samsung has a working product, when they don’t. Like the Smart Switch app.
Using the Flip5 - my first folding phone. One thing I have to say, Arun - you realise you can just use the phone as a slab phone too, right? I agree with some of your points, but in cases like "the top screen is smaller when using it in flex mode" isn't actually much of a thing - just use the phone fully open. Really, it's just a normal phone with some extra quirks and features. The third camera is the only piece that I was concerned about, but it's been fine so far. No desire to go back to a slab phone yet
I watched this video on my flip 5 and I barely notice anything because I hate being in photos and the phone generally isn't bad, also you can just use 2 hands to open the phone
Just hit the dislike button, he should get the message loud and clear.. being a poster fanboy for Apple isn’t a thing anymore.. on the contrary, check mkbhd
By the way, you can use One Hand Operation+ in Good Lock to bring brightness adjustment and other controls to the side of the Galaxy phone, which you can access with a swipe from either edge.
I love Android, cause every time you buy a new phone, you can get one from a different brand with a different UI and strong points and design philosophy, it makes getting a new rectangular black slab exciting.
5:53 , there is a double key press thingy in the advanced settings where if you double press the power button you can open an app , even when you are in other places
5:55 if you are constantly taking your phone, THEN DON'T CLOSE IT WHEN YOU PUT IT AWAY, no problems anymore, you don't need to pick out things in that way just to prove how "good" iPhone is.
I felt the same way with my flip 3 and got the s22 plus instead. But i got the FOLD 5 2 weeks ago and all the problems i had with the flip 3 are gone. Good coverscreen, good battery, great cameras, im very happy that i got the fold

for the brightness thing that you told, when you swipe with your 2 fingers, it actually fully swipes up, so you don't have to scroll up 2 times. Honestly, scrolling up two times isn't really a problem for me, but you can do it.
I run a work iPhone12 and have a Flip5 as a personal phone. I like both for different reasons but you nailed it with the Flip5 drawbacks - for me though, the fun of opening to answer a call or shut it to end is not wearing off (yet), watching quick videos on UA-cam without needing a stand or a case with a built in stand or ring stand is useful (even if the screen is small), and holding it like a old school camcorder to take video means I take longer videos than I ever have before as its so comfortable. The cover screen also let's me use it onehanded which is super useful and is maybe 50% of interactions I have with the Flip. But I wouldn't want it for work use - the iPhone is just so much slicker and better to use when I really need it be working perfectly and consistently. I'm OK accepting some flaws with a personal device though.
I avoided Apple for decades, because it was just too expensive. Then two things happened - first, I purchased a Sony phone which was truly terrible and then someone gave me their old IPhone SE gen 1 and someone else gave me an old IMac. Now Apple have me trapped for life 😂 It all works well and I’m just too old to be bothered to switch - I just want to keep things simple.
I also have an iPhone 13 for work and flip 5 personal, the iPhone just seems boring now. I wouldnt use a flip for work, but im still having a fun time using it as my personal phone
Regarding the laptop-phone interaction and lack of AirDrop, I think that KDE Connect might be a good alternative. I use it mainly to transfer files but it has a lot of features (notifications showing on pc, copy-pasting between devices, controlling media and more)
switching to iphone 13 pro max to Samsung S23Ultra 512gigs is a REAL Ultra upgrade. never going back to any apple product again, and just got a tabS9 Ultra 512 gigs with 1 terabite SD card. took me 1 week to get the android system.
Whoa, not a biased comparison at all. Comparing a new, innovative form of phone to a standard one. Either compare the iPhone 14 to a S23 ultra or Pixel 7 pro. Or, compare the Samsung Flip to the iPhone Flip.....
I totally agree for the most part, i got my first folding phone with the zflip 3, and I'll never go back, but there definitely are some problems that still need to be solved
I've been using a Z Fold 4 (not Flip) and I love it. Being a writer, I've loved the extra screen real estate on the inside if I want to buckle down and (a) do some work on the go, or (b) play games; and while I can't wait for them to knock that thickness/weight down just a BIT, it really hasn't bothered me as much as you'd think it would. I use it closed up for "regular phone stuff" but for my personal use case, the big screen is just perfect. I wouldn't go back.
I've always been curious about these as I like the novel concept. I'm just not sure how I'd feel about the tactile feel of the crease. Out of curiosity, what do you do for a phone case?

I was really hesitant using a folding phone. I work through a samsung ambassador program where they gave us the flip3 at work, and then the flip 4. I really thought I'd hate it at first, but after having the flip3 for a year, my main issues were mostly addressed with the 4. The other main issue is the durability though, I had a noticeable tear in my screen in the 3 after a year, and I do have one with my 4, although its a lot less noticeable after a year with the 4. This was after a year in both cases and while my 4 looks a lot better after a year, I think as I approach the next few months it'll become a lot more of an issue that I can't ignore.

So interesting how we have different experiences. I have a razr tho, i watch youtube on my external screen all the time, and even tv shows. Its nice at a restaurant because it is more private and saves table space. Also the crease doesn't seem to cause glare for other viewers. And taking a video from external is easy with the twist gesture. Also propping a non foldable phone up with books, shoes, a water bottle so it can CLUNK down or add that finger thing on the back is so out lol❤
Mannn you are spot on with this bro. I'm coming from an S21 ultra, and i love the flip features but as you stated, sometimes you'll quickly be reminded what you were missing on the regular phone. Like everything it has its pros and cons
Your newest videos are so good at grabbing my attention while watching as compared to your old videos. I've noticed that in the new videos there is always something new or a new transition in about 7-10 seconds. I am absolutely amazed by this. I watched the video about the wallpaper that damages phones and compared, there was a big difference. Not being negative but something I definitely observed.
I got an iPad for the first time a while back and I now realise how effective apple's methods are to get you into their ecosystem. First off the product itself is fantastic but the way they make it so that if you choose lets say your apple id to log into things, it happens in seconds whereas if you used another login method it would take a bit longer. And the way that every product links to eachother makes you feel like you're always wanting more.
Same he could've chosen fold or s23u for the video but he chose Samsung's most inferior flagship intentionally so he can have the reason to not switch to samsung or android
Most apple users will never move to android. They are already locked in that system. It will take them years to get used to it, maybe a a decade or two.
I don't know if it's the same for the flip5 but on my flip4, triple tapping the power button when the phones closed, brings up the camera automatically, which is super useful!
Interesting that you mentioned signal strength, I've always had 4 bars of signal in my house with every phone I've had... except the S23, 1 bar. Never lost signal though.
Came back to this video and now with 1 year and 2 months experience with my Galaxy Z Flip 5, my sister having a Z Fold 5 and brother previously a Z Fold 5 (switched to a S24 Ultra), we can all honestly say we love our folds/flips. I’ve only dropped mine a couple times, no damage at all (then again, I’m that person that puts crazy/kawaii cases on my phone and always with. Strap or lanyard). My sister’s never dropped her Fold5, but it’s great for her office work and client meetings, my brother shifted to an S24 Ultra cuz it’s newer and the nature of his work makes it way easier for him to drop his phone - several times already but hey, NO significant DAMAGE. All that to say, no regrets at least for us. I absolutely love my Flip5. Having a Flip/Clamshell phone that’s all-screen, touch-screen and no buttons has been a dream come true for my 90’s childhood self.❤
I think the best way to improve the z-flip 5 is to make it wider: now yes, it may ruin a bit of the compact its suppose to be but: 1. their will be more screen meaning a more enjoyable expirience. 2. more room for battery in the inside 3. easier to type on the keyboard 4. easier to watch content while its folded in half

I am on the same exact situation, Arun. I'd say for the very purpose of staying away from all of internet's toxicity the simplicity of not matching your PC with the Phone (and even extending that with a watch) is really positive. Android focuses on more solid and real OS and that tends, for me, to make me feel more productive and less attracted to digital junk. The biggest drawbacks are the camera. When I want to produce quality content on my social medias, I have not the option. But I guess for you the workarounds are using an iPhone for the day. iWatch also falls into that, a fitbit does the trick. Overall I believe apple should lean a bit and learn with Android minimalism. Great video as always. Thanks. ❤
However, yes, the iPad and the Mac are undisputed, unimaginably ahead in competition. Maybe iPad, Mac and AirPods are the magic three to have in the ecosystem, and then Fold as the 'back to really' trait?
@@JuskyTheHuskyehh AMD does already have competing chips for the M Series with similar efficiency and performance. The iPad Pros though don't have a competition regarding Chip power, would be just great if Apple allowed us to use all the power in the M Chips. As of right now many A Bionic chip can do everything that the M Chips can with no real difference (except video editing)
@@eulehund99 It‘s all about optimisation. AMD won‘t be able to keep up with the M performance and optimisation as they only make the hardware, not the software
@lxnd indeed, apple rocks on single core, and most users will generally use one to five max in common tasks, hence, a great computer (while even discarding the OS, that of which is also very good)
I always use the slight bend at work for lunch. It's so cool!!! My phone stands up on my tray or table and I can eat and watch shows or movies. I got used to it and I love my flip phone. I got the galaxy buds that match. Everything you mention that you're not excited over......Im used to and they are actually not that bad. Haha. I love my phone so much and everyone around me INCLUDING APPLE USERS ask about my phone. 😂 I find myself trying to fold everyone's phone around me. Flipping my phone makes me feel cool since like I rarely see anyone with the same phone. It can just get awkward when my hands are kind of holding other stuff. Still, I don't have a problem with my phone and every change is fine. I knew the pros and cons of getting a flip before I did and they were never a big deal to me. Before when every phone flipped and texting meant hitting the same key several times just to get the letter you want........this phone is a massive step up from that after all these years. A foldable and compact phone that you can slip in your pocket and not worry about its edges stabbing you when you sit is very good. It's well worth any little thing and the dust isn't going to make me throw my phone. It just means extra cleaning but it's not the end of the world. As for the cameras my sister who has a apple phone likes the photos but I'm always reminding her that when I send videos or she sends me videos they always look so awful because we have different ecosystems. I like my photos that this takes.
Got the fold 5 and it is amazing! As someone who accidentally broke the note 9's pen after a few months, I had forgotten how amazing it is! 🤯 I like how interesting the flip is too 🤔
Arun does love a really soft life, flipping your phone isn't much of the struggle he made it look like, that's supposed to be the least of your worry in life
How much huge??🤔 My s21u gives me 6 to 7 and half hours screen on time with 85% charge and medium use social media and watching movies stuff. It does come down to 4 to 3 and half hours with heavy use like gaming, but I would say this is good, but I am curious how much the improvement is?
People seem confused about why you made this comparison, but it is EXACTLY what I needed. I’m thinking of making the switch from Apple to Samsung and the Flip has fascinated me the most. I’m definitely still compelled by foldables but I think I will actually wait for the tech to develop. This was so helpful for me. Thanks!
I went the opposite way Android EMUI to IOS and I’ll never look back Android is very complex and as a daily driver you get hooked to looking and changing your phone all the which waste of time in my eyes as only you see it!
About the setup, I switched from Samsung A20e to a newer samsung phone and transfered all of my files and data via wifi and it took around 1.5 hours including loading the data. I didn't even have to log myself anywhere since it shared everything (excluding bank apps and stuff like that, but that's obvious). Great video Arun!
7:58 Obviously a screen won't fit as much information when you only use half of it, but that's what gives you the benefit of having a "stand" for the half you use instead of having to find something else to put your phone against and risking dropping it as you're scrolling. My issue though is how you showed two entirely different notes in the video, on the Fold being a very spaced out note and on the iPhone being a much more concentrated one with smaller letters. We get the point, but this is misleading.
@@Bruh_Moment.. In a way, yes. And he kind of admitted it. He and everyone in his team use Apple software tools for the channel, so he is subconsciously stuck to that ecosystem.
5:43Okay?? Pick one of the S23 phones to compare then. #1 It’s a flip phone, expect to have to actually OPEN it. #2 You’re opening it oddly, but ok. #3 My opinion, but it just looks like Arun is trying to give the iPhone another win, pick a different Samsung if you have trouble grasping the concept of having to open a flip phone.
Folding phones still have a long way to go and in my honest opinion will never replace the regular phones. This said i feel this video did a good job at highlighting strongly both the advantages and disadvantages, Although i knew Arun wouldn't be permanently switching the reason he gave (ecosystem) is very valid as it is one of the first reasons i (an android user) give when asked if i would want to switch to Iphone.
I'm really tempted by each z flip that comes out but I'm nervous to commit to buying it. I keep thinking I'll wait for the next one and there should be less negatives to owning it
seems like Nearby Share (or equivalent) is coming to Mac, if not already. But if Internet connected, why not just rely on whatever cloud provider (e.g., Dropbox, Google Drive) to always have all files on all devices? Why make more copies of files using AirDrop?
This video completely convinced me that Arun isn't what he acts like at all; and most probably he is paid to make this video (by Apple). It's just that he is too good at acting as if this is his genuine opinion. I do always wonder why so many tech-tubers glaze over and ignore Apples anti-competition practices. Locking you in to an ecosystem is the opposite of what technology should be doing for us as users, but the review community shrug their collective shoulders and say 'apple be apple'
meh it works

There are of course tradeoffs but the fact that you're scrolling more because the screen is too little (7:50) is optional, you don't have to fold it to display content, if you want you could not fold it and set it against a stand just like the iphone.

no, that´s not the reason, the reason for an ecosystem is simplicity to work between different devices.

It's crazy how you easily you can get stuck in an ecosystem without even realizing it, and then not being able to leave it easily.
iphone does the same, im actually convinced that the samsung ecosystem is apple's fault, bc avery samsung gadget works on ANY android

As an s23u owner, I am seriously considering fold. But once I saw how video-watching experience from inner screen wasn't drastically better than on s23u (that is with no zooming in video, mind you), I changed my mind. Fold's aspect ratio needs to be improved.
That's not even considering that the S23 will last you minimum 4 years with updates, while this flip I'd say that you'd be lucky to last a year
Foldables are still a rather young product.

Samsung Support was very helpful in suggesting I try doing a full system reset 😂
I’m sure it’s better now, but with all the time it takes to customize the phone and settings, this bug cost me weeks.

Real
Great! As a PC user, it’s Android! Apple’s insistence to be difficult makes me want to leave iOS for good.
@@docaff Samsung's own one, I don't recall what it's called but it comes with a choice of s-pen (included) or stand and you can swap them out. Works reasonably well.
I haven't had a problem with the crease, but it's definitely noticeable when the phone is open. Maybe takes a bit of getting used to but really the best way would be to go to a phone shop and get your hands on a dummy model to see how it feels in your hand and if you think you'd like it.

I've always thought that the fold was far superior to the flip. I have been reassured thanks to this video.
I like how imformative and thought through this video really is. I was sent this video by someone who thought this was all Anti-Samsung. (The reason for that is that half of the non-English native speakers mis understand the phrase "try doing something" thinking it meant, unsuccessfully trying something or in other words "tried TO do something". ). But what I - as someone who uses Windows and Android don't understand: Why do you need Airdrop, what does it do and how is it different to simply sending and receiving files via bluetooth? Like why would you need a dedicated app for such a simple function? Does a Mac not have a flie explorer?
I was really hesitant using a folding phone. I work through a samsung ambassador program where they gave us the flip3 at work, and then the flip 4. I really thought I'd hate it at first, but after having the flip3 for a year, my main issues were mostly addressed with the 4. The other main issue is the durability though, I had a noticeable tear in my screen in the 3 after a year, and I do have one with my 4, although its a lot less noticeable after a year with the 4. This was after a year in both cases and while my 4 looks a lot better after a year, I think as I approach the next few months it'll become a lot more of an issue that I can't ignore.
this is true. I mean it’s bound to happen bc of the use of the fold putting pressure/stress on the screen.
Exactly the reason why I don’t want a foldable!

I think the best way to improve the z-flip 5 is to make it wider: now yes, it may ruin a bit of the compact its suppose to be but:
1. their will be more screen meaning a more enjoyable expirience.
2. more room for battery in the inside
3. easier to type on the keyboard
4. easier to watch content while its folded in half

@@JuskyTheHusky"Ahead in competition" is extremely questionable
