Praying for all the plumbers and HVAC workers, the middle of the country will have subzero temperatures down through Texas next week. It’s going to be busy and stressful.
looks like the exhaust is getting sucked into the intake, that would definitely cause issues as the gases will condense and the low ph may cause things to corrode faster
@@SuperComfeeI’m surprised Mikey didn’t spend more time explaining that. It’s the first thing I thought of too; you can even see in the video the wind is pushing the exhaust right into the intake 🤦
Thanks for the video. Found it very helpful. I recently put in a dewhot system which is total junk. Only been hearing good reports from the bosch systems. Out of interest is it possible to buy the blower and venturi assembly as a separate part?
Hello, I have this same exact tank, however my heating does not pass 73 .... Before 73 temperature I can feel my radiator emitting lots of heat but after 73 it isn't the same. I have a nest thermostat that is calling to reach 80 but it gets to 73 and that's it. The boiler keeps running and that's about it. Any helpful information on this would be very appreciated
True, but flue gas condensate is highly corrosive, plain water would not cause the rust seen here so soon. Manufacturers warn not to use ANY metal pipe or fittings of any type on condensate drains, and require neutralizers on the condensate discharge.
Looks like the same garbage heat exchanger we had on our slant fin. Same branding on the tag of the exchanger. Was all aluminum inside and could not take it apart to clean. At least this one looks like it has more serviceability.
Hey Mikey, of Mikey Pipes Plumbing not easy being cheesy. I like your podcast/social media, looking thru some comments/reply. Hmm? tankless hot water boiler, that rubber drain hose can not take all that thermal shock, i have found. Thank God you are not working for Alaskan Airline ? lol. It's murphy's law again. Love you buddy, you be safe out there.
I currently have a Takagi, which is also branded as AO Smith here in the US. Supposedly made in Japan and rebadged. I haven't looked too much at the internals (other than initial setup dip switch settings) to see where the heat exchanger comes from.
Space limitations, efficiency. Endless hot water. Lower operating costs over the unit life. IF properly maintained (which is not that difficult or expensive) a unit like this will last as long or longer than 2 or 3 conventional tank types. (Takagi warranties their heat exchanger for 15 years.)
storage tanks require to be maintained at a certain temperature, which passively uses energy.. some of these boilers are capable of heating your house like a boiler and also providing potable water as well ( combi ), they save space. overpriced, storage tank heaters are fine, just put a timer on them and only have them heat your tank at night rates
Also these require maintenance, it’s not uncommon to go 15 years no service on storage tanks whereas these will hit you in maintenance and more water usage, destroying your dreams of ever saving any money
@@SuperComfee I flush my Rinnai once a year. Just did mine this weekend. It's 4 years old. I took the flame rods out to inspect them. I have brand new ones on hand as well. They were completely intact. I hit them with Scotch Brite and put them back in. I know none of my neighbors are doing any kind of maintenance on theirs so time will tell. I have almost every spare part on hand just in case.
Why I gave up on wall hung junk. Almost all the brands that were the latest and greatest become junk. I got sick off off hour calls for broken systems with no technical or parts support. Homeowners with 20 to 30 thousand dollar installs under 10 and especially 5 years old. They would look at me and ask why the are paying so much repairs and the old cast iron boiler they could forget about for years. May be saving gas usage but flushing money down the drain. perhaps the reason this boiler is in such shitty condition already is because of the recirc

Great video. I am in Astoria NY. how does the availabilty of parts and service compare between Bosch combi and Navien?

Had a similar thing happen with a Rheem tankless except the condensate water was from a leaking furnace in the utility room above.
Nice tour of the unit. What about cause of leak? Cost the customer big $ for service call and repair. Wouldn’t say anything bad about Bosch. 8:32
you would think the outer box could be some composite material or even just the bottom plate, that would not rust.

Honestly, those look nicely constructed, in spite of that leak. Didn’t help it was dripping highly corrosive water on that connector.
So it's a navien?
Nope. Bosch.
navien is better than bosch for Tankless

Making the trades great again. #LoveBosch Keep up the good work Mikey Pipes. Smash the like button please.
Appreciate it!
im not going to say it cause you know what it looks like lol good gosh
If Bosch is so good why is it leaking
shit happens
looked like a navien at first.

I think Rinai machine is better
That unit is only a year old should b under warranty
All these Tankless videos tech never solves the problem 👎
Suck my ⚽️
Why does this look soooo much like a NAVIEN ?
Because Bosch/Buderus contracted with Navien to make the heat exchangers. It even says Navien on the metal plate
The heat exchanger is made in Korea but a different plant. (At least that's what it looks like from the nameplate.)
@@mxslick50 probably the same plant, they just put a different nameplate during 2nd shift.
