    Very unique Sam everyone has their own way of doing things mate..
    Very hard to tell if 35mm will be enough clearance mate yes a tonner doesn't have a lot of weight over the rear axle but you still have your fuel tank plus the weight of the tray to factor in mate..
    Very neat all the same mate..
    Not if coil overs settle like normal suspension which normal drops around 15-20mm depending on the rate of the spring at hand mate..
    You going the right way about bloke anyway keep up the great content 👌👍

    Big fan of this - lots of comments on the travel, I was wondering how you came up with the plan rather than shitting on it - so much thought into this build I am interested in the why

      Glad you like the build Mate. I wanted to build something unique and a once off build. Also trying to keep most things subtle. The tray might end up being too much but will see what I can come up with :)

    Generally speaking. Anything custom, add 10 hours to your estimated time that you think it will take then add 20 hours to that. 😂😂😂. Looking awesome Sam. Cannot wait to see this ute ripping around Brisbane. Keep up the high build quality. 👍👍👍

    Never seen a tray design before like you’re thinking of, might be interesting to see what designs you come up with, also have you thought about a automatic actuator to lift your tray, something like a automatic gate opener, also would be able to be connected to a remote control, that would be a pretty Smick addition, all in all you’re doing a fantastic job

    It's a beautiful build mate. You should be proud of the care and thought that is going into it.. I'm worried about the clearance of 35mm under the guards though.. I'd hate to see what may happen if you hit a ditch . From the picture that you showed it looks like perforated steel sheets. If that's what it is, personally, I don't like the practicalities of road grime being thrown up under the tray. But, it's your build, you have to be happy. You've been fastidious in the preparation in all other areas, just think it through.

    • @ShenkeGarage
      @ShenkeGarage  2 роки тому

      Thanks for the feedback Mate. I might look into the spacing of the guards as a few comments have said the same thing. Guards are only tacked in so it wont be an issue to raise if I need to. Im also thinking carbon fiber sheeting could be an option

    Great Work love the videos ... Just a quick note ... You said there is only 35mm clearance from the guard to the tyre ... It looks like you have a lot more travel in the coilovers than 35mm thinking you might need some more clearance than that.

    Are you going to drive the ute? Timber trays look sweet original height you had a hiding space great for 10kgs pay for new rig and fuel for some more runs.All was good used about 25l to 100km about 10 mpg Had a problem with tailshafts suggest two piece with center bearing

    be interesting to see how this tray turns out. im in the same opinion as you when you said some people try to do things outside the box on there trays and the look like dog shit. im going to be keeping mine very simple. lower down. following the lines on the door, no tubs and probably checker plate or smoot steel

    Looks awesome mate. How much extra weight would you be putting on. You’d have your drop tank weight and the remaining weight for the tray. I’m Thinking about the finished ride height for the rear. I know you have coil overs. You probably have thought of this but thought I’d mention it.
    Loving the build mate

    • @ShenkeGarage
      @ShenkeGarage  2 роки тому

    Dude, build the trey too your taste.
    As the MCM guys have published several times lately, the haters are gunna hate no matter what you do.
    For example, the door release you fabricated on The Tunner is (in my opinion) bloody awful.
    But you want it, & so it’s done.
    Be unique, build the ute you want.
    Just keep up the content dude and accept the difference in opinion.
    👍🇦🇺

    Mate, I have a horrible feeling that 35mm compression travel isn't going to be enough. You don't want to limit your travel by stiffening the heck out of the shocks either.
    TCP suggest 50mm of compression travel and QA1 say to aim for 2.5" (63mm) compression.

    • @ShenkeGarage
      @ShenkeGarage  2 роки тому

      Thanks Mate. A few people have commented the same thing. I will look into it further and if needed the guards are only tacked in so I can raise it a bit more
