"A coat of many colours", makes one think of Dolly Parton lovely song. I will never throw away small scraps of material again! Thank you for this tutorial, very inspiring, very beautiful
I had my first machine sewing time with my goddaughter's 7 years old daughter a couple of weeks ago. She was asking me for years to teach her to sew. She chose all the small pieces and sewed them together in sort of crazy patchwork. I cut and sewed this in a heart shape on an ancient sheet, and she made the sewing to turn it as a lovely tote bag. On my lap, she is too short to use the pedal and so I could control there was no danger for her fingers. She was so happy and proud of that lovely bag. ❤❤❤
@@daniellelaplace6455 one of the most precious times in my life has been sharing my love of sewing and quilting with others. When one of our sons was about 10 or 12 years old he made a very pretty quilt. He made a log cabin in lavender to dark purple on one side and white to black on the other. He’s 50 years old now and that quilt is still in great condition. I’ve shared my love for sewing/quilting with several other family members and friends. Enjoy your time with her. 💜
@@Thuycraftsjust go for it. I spent time with my home schooled Grandsons. Their dad wasn't fully bon board. I explained it was art class and gaining an understanding of machines. I still have my brother with various speeds settings. The second machine is at my daughter's for when I visit. Soon I'll be teaching the great grand kids and their mom. Things to look forward to. Lol
I had a mini sewing machine I got for my birthday, I think when I was nine. I learned some sewing on it, before I graduated to the bigger one. I wish I still had it.
Hi Thuy! Sooo, you made your own pattern... created your own yardage...cut out the garment, rounding corners, binding seams, adding snap closures, etc...making a cute one-of-a-kind jacket. Thuy....YOU ARE AMAZING!! ❤
Thank you so much Thuy, and her little helper. And the jacket looks superb on her too. I really really enjoyed watching you create this beautiful and uniquely cute jacket out of all your beautiful scraps of fabric. And no one anywhere on. The Earth will own such a wonderful piece of artwork. Please 🙏 stay safe and well too xxxx Mags ❤❤❤❤❤
I love that you let your 7 year old be part of the process! I was amazed you stitched the second step of the binding from the top- I usually turn it over..I’ll have to give your way a try!
Thank you so much for showing us the finished jacket on a young person - it was lovely to see it come to life! How wonderful she looks and what a great design for her, especially worn with jeans. It was really cool ❤
I love the way you put all the scraps together. This would be so easy to do to make ultra simple things like placemats, and table runners or table cloths for a person with no sewing skills, like me.
Невероятно, я ожидала что лоскутки будут внутренней стороной, а вы их сделали лицевой... Очень креативный жакет получился. Спасибо за подробное видео, смотрела на одном дыхании.
Oh my goodness Thuy Crafts this is fantastic and you make it beautifully. I loved the paper piecing, what a great idea, I want to make myself a lovely warm winter dressing gown I know how thanks to you, my larger scraps, the jacket is gorgeous
"My coat of many colors, my mama made for me" 🎶 What an amazing creation made with both love and skill. Learned so much from this video, just creating the squares alone, is a valuable tool to know, so many possibilities for the squares. Thank You so much for a lovely video!
Thank you so much Thuy, and her little helper, I really really enjoyed watching you create this beautiful jacket, and it’s so beautiful and stunning to and totally unique. I bet it feels so special to wear. Please stay safe and well too xxxx Mags. I absolutely love ❤❤❤❤❤ and adore this.
I’ve seen people use adding machine tape to make strips with tiny scraps but no one talks about what to do with larger pieces and this is great!! I have some ideas on how to use all the scraps now!! And garment/knits I can use stabilizer instead of the paper
Beautiful! What a wonderful way to use recycled newspaper to make a pattern. Great idea! Jacket came out great. I love it! Thanks for the terrific idea! I will certainly try this.
My version is using a sweatshirt opened up for the inside of jacket. It makes for a lightweight but warmer garment for in between seasons. Thanks for your creative ideas.
Enjoying your videos learning by watching and at ease with musical choices. Speaking for myself only this is a lovely and peaceful way of sharing information. I don’t know if it is because I’m older or what but some sounds are not soothing. I think it’s a tone maybe it’s the hectic life we are all trying to negotiate. But your videos are soothing. Thank you for sharing the peace ❤

Oh I think she is very goog at that age, my 8-year-old daughter wants me to teach her sew but I haven't taught her yet😅😅

Perfect, she'll have great memories! ❤

The paper backing is a great idea. Your end product is just lovely. One could stop at the quilt stage or go on to construct whatever they wish.
