Yes, I too used to Redline fluid on my 2011 Scion XB manual transmission and it improved the shifting, smoother.
Additionally, I replaced the shifter bushings with Torque Solutions bushings, and shifting is much more precise now, notchier, just feels better

This is literally my EXACT issue. I was ready to give up on my transmission, and this video might have just saved me!
The grinding happened AFTER the Toyota dealership did a transmission flush for me. My guess would be that they didn't have the exact fluid I needed and opted for another option that was "close enough".
    You are a life saver.

@MalcomHeavy I read somewhere that the actual OEM fluid for the transmission is only available in Japan and hard to get ahold of, but Red Line works great as an alternative. Please post up your results once you change your fluid.

@VampyreX13 Will absolutely do. I'll post a video one I get the fluid and put some miles in with it.
If you are interested, I'm currently editing a video on swapping seats while still retaining the factory rails. Should have it uploaded sometime tomorrow.

@MalcomHeavy I've done that before on a previous car, but it definitely required welding. Post up your video link once it's done.

2 years ago my shifting was very rough, I was having a lot of grinding when shifting from 1st to 2nd, even when warm. I thought I needed a new clutch or tranny but the car was supposed to have those replaced already (must have used cheap gear oil). So after some online research I changed my gear oil to Redline MT-LV and now it's as smooth as butter. Even in the dead of a Canadian winter, when it's at it's absolute coldest, it's super smooth every time I shift gears. My shifting is still super smooth 2 years later!! This stuff is the best, no doubt, and hands down !! Thanks Derrick !! (But for the very first time I was a little bit ahead of you. lol !!) Keep up the great work man !!! We all need you out here.😁

I was also having issues in the winter in -40 C in Canada. But this was awesome and did the trick for me as well.

Have you had any issues with your input shaft bearing?

@adamnardone2072 I had to have that replaced a while ago. That's when I started having the grinding issues going into 3rd gear.

@@VampyreX13 did replacing the bearing solve the problem for you? Im only at 90,000 km not sure if it's worth spending the money to have it replaced, seems like it can be a recurring problem
