to the poser who posted "he;s fat.' here is my comment. HE'S RICH...earned from the sweat of his brow and exercising more hours a day than you could f*ck...so tell that to someone else he's burned more calories during his racing days than you will in your lifetime and the next one.
Sam Smith bro, I trained with racing cyclists for 4 years, lost 40 lbs and sold thought I had aids...lol. After I stopped training riding 50 miles every day I put 30 of the pounds back on. Nature has it own set point, a can manipulate it like bodybuilders or cyclists or on near-term but or body will always go to it's set line of a stop training.
Carmichael was such a good champ. He had fire in him when he raced and i sometimes feel like that fire they had back then is a lost art. today ridders are still amazingly fast but when i watched Carmichael especially against Stewart they battled hard really really hard. Maybe Villapoto just makes it look to easy but I miss the back and forth battles. Carmichael is so well spoken and smart too.
Well put. You could see the fire in him when he was racing, both on and off of the track. He retired before that flame died out. Villopoto (who is my favorite rider) just doesn't look like he has that fire anymore. Keyword: anymore. He'll settle for a lower finish before going all-out for a win. And maybe thats the smarter thing to do, He's still the best right now, but even in interviews he just seems tired of everything. After Poto retires I feel that the era of great champions will be over. I don't think there will be back-to-back champions in supercross or motocross for atleast a little while. And thats not saying there won't be another era in the future filled with dominance and all time greats, but I don't see the current crop of riders coming up beating any records.
While I prefer Yamaha, KTM is definitely not shit. KTM is the most premium bike out there. Most people don't know that all the pro teams that are sponsored by the big 4 replace their frames roughly every three races. KTM frames last the whole year. Aluminum becomes brittle as it is stretched. Chromoly KTM frames do not and they have deflection built into them.
It doesn't matter what you ride. Suzuki, KTM, Honda, Yamaha, it's all build for the same purpose and all of them will eventually break down. It's what you prefer what counts. If you think KTM has better suspension compared to Honda and you feel more comfortable on a KTM, you should ride one. And if you think Suzuki is the best, no one will hold you back from buying one. Just make sure YOU ride the bike, instead of the other way around.
I started on a KTM, I own 2. IN all the time iv owned them they have not had one single problem. At 90 hours on one of them we took it into the shop. The guy told us the bike was sportless and needed nothing. KTM makes good all around bikes for the track and the woods. But there prices are very high witch makes people go away from them. Don't get me wrong Honda, Yamaha, and kawi are all good names. But if you are going hard and have the cash. Put it down on a KTM.
i call bullshit on the lack of maintenance on 90 hours. i ride a 200exc and have recently rebuilt the entire engine, i shit you not. the ktm mechanic told my father and i after 90 hours the top end should be rebuilt and the gearbox should be checked.
the ones with a broken KTM at a track which people in the comment section seem to say everytime they go to the track wont maintain their bike properly! my bike has not broke down once in the 80 hours of riding we have done
Always enjoy listening to an RC interview, Classy and honest. Loved his answer to the young mans question! To the fools who badmouth KTM.....just jealousy cause you can't afford one of the best designed and built off road bikes.....Steel frames because they handle and ride better than aluminum. KTM shows no weight disadvantage to the Japanese bikes and better/usable power. I own 2 now along with 3 Hondas........RC's right....just have fun!
No one should talk sh*t on Carmichael! Just like no skateboarder should talk sh*t on Tony Hawk. Have respect for the greats who paved the way! RC has accomplished more than any of us ever will.
Funny to hear RC, one of the greatest risk takers of all time, a guy who rode on the ragged edge for so many years to win so many championships, tell riders who are coming up, to ride within their limits and take a 3rd. I don't the the GOAT did that in a single race.
JaFFaFlash , but why?? Money??? KTM thought of him as spent rider??? KTM picked up another stud?? I know he wears old English cologne and he's gay!!!!!!
Ricky, The rivalry I remember most was Ponca City '93 when you and Charlie Bogard were fighting it out in the super-minis. After all the rain and mud you guys where clearing impossible jumps that the 250 pro class wouldn't try. I especially loved the way you two would hit the kicker before the tabletop right down front. That should have slowed you down, but you both did some magic superman fly and got there before the bike, then at the last minute you just reached down and jerked those handle bars as far forward as you could. Every lap you both just cased it, but as long as you could get the front wheel on top it was full throttle all the way. After that race everyone knew that 13 year old RC was faster than Charlie B. I solute you master Carmichael!
dude your probably just so used to buying expensive parts and having to look up diagrams on the internet because everything is so complex on a ktm compared to a suzuki or yamaha. i know on my rm125 everything is so easy to fix u dont need a diagram to put shit back together because they are so mechanic friendly
I agree the parts are really expensive but you can take most of the bike apart with only like 3 tools and iv never had many problems with my bikes that iv had over the years.
teh kid asks him "Why you dont ride a KTM?" and he ansers"Cose i'm sponsored by Suzuky" (dont coment any this like "no shit, are you serius" 'n stuff cose mady somone didnt heard the wispers in the end of the video 5:08 - 5:14)
RC is probably the best ambassadeur for the sport of motocross ever. And when commenting, he see things far ahead than others. His "oh boy" is a certain sign of something coming up. And he is the most successful rider ever. In my opinion only JMB was maybe better but for a too short period of time.
I started on a KTM. I liked it at the time but after developing an open mind I discovered that other bikes are better too me and I am more comfortable on Suzuki's and Yamaha's, not to bad with Kawasakis either.
BLAKEB178 Not true. I know some bikes were the same like the LTZ400 and KFX400 quads, and the KLX110's engine was made by suzuki. the kx85 and rm85. However there big motocross bikes were not the same (125's, 250's 250f's 450's) I have an 06 RMZ450 and my friend has an 06 KX450. there a lot different. How ever I also have a 2004 LTZ400, and have another friend with a 2005 KFX400, exact same bike.
i disagree that u shouldn't ride out of your limits. if u never ride out of your limits how are you going to get better. i saying that u should go from doing a whip to a backflip, I'm just saying push your limits sometimes.
Nathan McGuire Can't forget Jeremy McGrath! He was a badass until he got his back/shoulder hurt, arm pump slowed him down so much. Carmichael had just entered the 250 pro class around that time and was winning everything lol. I felt bad for Mcgrath but everyone has to give it up at some point.
I've always been partial to Honda, but I've always recognized their lack of quality suspension. They normally are very reliable well built bikes. My new 2014 Honda CRF450X actually had a manufacture defected frozen carburetor screw which I had tapped and replaced. The suspension on this model has received alot of criticism, but I am very happy with it. I've seen KTMs growing up, and my buddy currently owns a 2014 KTM 450SX-F. They have always been very fast reliable bikes. My personal favorite thing about KTMs is their ability to ride smooth at any rpm in any gear. My friends a new rider, and he frequently is in 3rd taking technical slow speed ground and the KTM doesn't even struggle to maintain power. They excel in the woods technically for this reason. I've been to alot of Mike Laffertys races, and he also has shown how the top ends of KTMs always seem to be smoother and more versatile going into corners in various gears.
ktm is the mercedes of motorcycles very well made and very good until u gotta buy parts for them or work on them lol they are the best bikes though no lie im suzuki guy and ktm is the best but thier IS a reason i am a suzuki guy
My buddies already replaced virtually every part on the bike just for appearance. Some are fortunate enough it doesnt hit too hard. I found the parts reasonably priced.
KTM motorcycle is good as long as it works! short period of time but it works well!world best 2stroke mccycle:1991-96 steelframed honda cr,4stroke:all xr400xr600 enduro!!!!
Whaaaat absolute bullshit. First and foremost: IF KTM decided to sponsor him, they willl fucking sponsor him. Where Suzuki filed for bankruptcy, KTM's are selling like hotcakes and it shows in the insane amount of factory teams they are fielding. When Rockstar dropped Suzuki, guess who they went to? Every bike is the same right???? Yeah maybe 30-40 years ago when you got a works bike built EXACTLY for you from the ground up. With the production rule, if you cant stand the frame of a certain brand, its time to switch. Learn your facts before you go posting dumb arse.
That was the big answer, because I'm sponsored by Suzuki, wow click bait got me for the first time....I almost clicked in why he would ride a KTM,he's Ricky he can do what ever he wants, hey he might wake up tommorow and love orange cereal and go by a KTM,not likely,he could ride some ones, first well thanks u click baited me...first time.thanks it was still cool to here Ricky answer some serious questions. At the pro level its a mostly mental head game and these kids are so well practiced and ready for Pro racing, but on the other side they have been racing like pros since they were 6 years old,and u never know when they reach the PRO ranks if they let up mentally, may be they stop pushing them selves,in sports I think physical peaks And don't know who has injury s that mess up their training,etc...piece,I was alway impressed with RC will to win,and the other day I heard Roger say the same thing and that was cool...in motorcycle racing there is an old philosophy when u get passed to get the guy right back just to demoralize him take the wind out of his sales,I'd say RC was a good picture of that rule.
All motorcross bikes are close in competition these days. We could argue for weeks on which is the best. The rider is the biggest difference. But one thing is for sure KTM are dear for parts.
I like to see you and Ronnie Mac in a boxing ring, after you did that cheap shot to win some silly dirt bike race that I just happened to stumble across.
800 raced mill creek in mini's i remember that kid, used to kick ass! got picked up by ktm. i was 30 something in 02-04, but RC is right he never made it. there were others that were good, 00 askew was a good rider. motocross is a small world. still ride a 2 stroke and always will
KTM produces the best Enduro bikes in the world. Anyone who has done extreme enduro on a ktm will confirm that for you. Ricky was a pro mx rider. Different story. If he didn't ride KTMs it's because he wasn't payed to do so. KTMs are premium bikes with very good build quality. They break when they get abused and used very hard like every other bike or component or even human body does. And most times they take the punishment really well. The only fault in the brand is the VERY expensive spare parts and the difficulty reaching them in some parts of the world. KTM is the only brand that produces different engines, frames and components for enduro, mx and supermotard. All the Japanese brands produce one mx bike and give it to other companies to convert it to enduro or supermoto. If you use the bike for what its made for, properly maintain it and respect it, it is most likely that you will have a happy and joyful relationship with it. No matter the brand or the model. I've had Honda, Suzuki, KTM, even had Piaggio Vespa when i was little, and besides a near death experience with a GSXR (which ofc was my fault) i had happy days and wonderful memories with all my bikes. Congrats to Ricky for all his achievements.
People are always trying to find some info about which brand to buy. Here is the facts. Bikes today are designed by very sophisticated engineers and software programs that pretty much deliver amazing bikes period. The difference between one brand vs another is almost not important anymore for a novice. That being said you cant look to pro's for advice. Yes they are sponsored but truly amazing/great riders can do it on anything. Most of the bikes you see these guys ride are not even close to a factory bike anyways so why even compare. Some bikes have a little more power, balance, braking whatever but the average rider can't push those limits to even matter so why obsess. its Stupid. A bike that still stands out above the rest is a KX500 two stoke. If you want something amazing and mind blowing find one of those. That's different. That's worth comparing. Doesn't matter what you buy now. Just pick your favorite color and go have fun.
Had a 08 125sx for a year or so... Rode the living shit out of it never had any problems... Still a Honda guy but my race bike just happens to be a 15 yz250f xD bikes are amazing!
2020, that Suzuki sponsorship is no longer and issue. So will you ride KTM? AC, no longer small. Daytona track, hold my beer while I make it even harder.
Anyone who's owned a KTM and AND another bike at the same time... Knows what a KTM is. Don't buy a Ferrari unless you can afford to maintain it and hunt for parts like a blind man in a parts bin when it goes out of production. I have an NX250 and a Duke 2. Loved the Duke ex the engine that threw a valve... The Honda is just now getting a top end after 30,000 hard core supermoto tail out MILES and the bottom end is as tight as a drum. I had to give my Duke away.
Cut me and i bleed Honda red. I lose count on Hondas my family has bought, 3 wheelers, 4, dirt bikes, street, crotch rockets, touring. I must say though, for woods, hills, or all day, KTM 450 is my first choice. I'm 44 and 250lbs. KTM electric start on a hill and that super low torque even without a Rekluse is my best friend! Reliabilty? Probably the Honda.
RV is great no question.... When it comes to opinions on bikes he is a huge tool. All bikes suck besides Suzuki to him. What makes him a tool and not a fanboy is he kept switching favorites. First it was Kawasaki in 125's he said he always would ride kawi. Then he went to Honda then swore it was the best. Then to Suzuki and now their the best a fanboy will stick brands.RC just goes where the money is and that changes his opinion. RV is a fanboy he is determined to retire on a green bike.So far he ignores offers even for more money which is rare. RC has wealth on knowledge but one would be wise to ignore all he has to say comparing bikes lol
When your being paid to ride your under contract when that contracts up factory's offer you what they can/will do, Kawi didn't want him as bad as Honda, Honda gave a better offer so he took it. Later Honda screwed him over, he left Honda and signed with Suzuki, pro's are paid to win races and sell bikes, if Ricky say that the Kx is the best bike he has ever ridden the sales are gonna go way up...
I think of KTM s as thoroughbred racehorses, high performance but require high end maintenance program.Japanese bikes are more robust 'weekend warrior' rides, they can be abused & hold up ( for a while)
why wouldnt you ride suzuki parts are way better price bike has the best handleing if you maintain your bikes they will last forever and the best looking bike out there pastrana rc james stewert brian deegan all rode suzuki at one point in there carrer
It doesnt matter what you ride, it's how well you ride it.

Q: Why don't you ride KTM
A: Because I'm sponsored by Suzuki, that's why.
Thank you. I would rather it at the start of the vid lol
+sejlefrew no bc ktm are pieces of that crap that are far from tough
lol there are almost the exact same thing bud
That motorcycle guy yeah he owns a Suzuki team
Ryan Plethra these guys don’t run stock suspension. Most of them use something like Factory Connection
Right at the end: "well cuz I'm sponsored by suzuki"
He’s back on a Kawi now

Agreed but its come back a little bit with the Tomac Sexton battles. They remind me alot of the classic battles of old.
KTM: Keep Throwin Money
Keeps taking money
Keep The Money
Haven’t heard that one before... 😂
I love how ricky is allowed to talk shit, because he has insane stats to back everything.

Kinda funny that the "KTM snaps in half" video pops up after playing this one.
It doesn't matter what you ride. Suzuki, KTM, Honda, Yamaha, it's all build for the same purpose and all of them will eventually break down. It's what you prefer what counts. What a stupid title for the video, desperate attempt at views. Skip to 5:09 for the answer which is "because I'm sponsored by Suzuki".
ya I know,it should be called why I don't like to race anymore!
It's because a kid asked u idiot. He didn't want to be mean or explain a lot cuz the kid won't understand
Daimler Bermudo ....You missed my entire point, "idiot".
Just get over it dude seriously.

lol think what you want but our 4 stroke now has over 100 hours and no rebuild. We are getting one for it very soon but it's still running!
Thomas blam you can go over the 90 hour mark of course but it increases the chances of something going wrong and completely killing the engine.
***** Well, the guy did tell him the bike was "sportless" which must mean it was no longer competitive.
I watched this video twice and I still don't know why Ricky doesn't ride ATM's? LOL, I guess the other content was good...
the ones with a broken KTM at a track which people in the comment section seem to say everytime they go to the track wont maintain their bike properly! my bike has not broke down once in the 80 hours of riding we have done

me: why doesn't he ride KTM? WHY DID YOU TITLE THE VID THAT IF YOU'RE NOT GONNA TELL! oh nevermind
you need to watch right to the end and listen to what the little kid asks RC and you'll get your answer
yes I know, hence the oh nevermind :P nice vid
Watch till the end. Dumb dumb
Bordendanny Pretty sure he figured that out DUMB DUMB
+Colton Balan I doubt that dumb dumb
A) I am sponsored by another brand. B) KTMs are too tall for me.
Ricky had Great Parents,, A humble man, a true sportsman,, and he proved his point when it mattered. Ricky is also Fans rider..Hats of to the GOAT..
Glad he's with Triumph now
Haha doubt he’d say that nowadays they are literally the best two strokes out there !
I have never met a ktm rider who wasnt a douch!!! I'll take yamaha anyday
I went from yammy to ktm. I agree. I feel like a douche now :( Might just get a klx now
Whos watching this guy 999lazer when the video is 999k views?
Because he knows what’s good
Funny to hear RC, one of the greatest risk takers of all time, a guy who rode on the ragged edge for so many years to win so many championships, tell riders who are coming up, to ride within their limits and take a 3rd. I don't the the GOAT did that in a single race.
RC is God on a bike. Gotta admire him telling it like it is and speaking from the heart.
He did answer it. He said "Because I'm sponsored by Suzuki".
JaFFaFlash , but why?? Money??? KTM thought of him as spent rider??? KTM picked up another stud?? I know he wears old English cologne and he's gay!!!!!!

Legend. Deceiving title but always insightful and entertaining to listen to RC.

Anyone who says KTM is a shit brand obviously hasnt owned a ktm before. Iv owned 4 in my 10 years of riding.

ive owned 3 ktms.... and they were all no bueno
Bad luck maybe haha

Well, Adam C won his first race. But RC is right, he's small, young, but the cats out of the bag and he aint going back in.....
im sure he was commenting on his outdoor races..

Now you know why you should never by a KTM. I am sooo relieved now !!
great video keep them going!
Where is the triumph mx bike
I ride ktm thats what I'm going to grow up on.
ITS BEAST
I started on a KTM. I liked it at the time but after developing an open mind I discovered that other bikes are better too me and I am more comfortable on Suzuki's and Yamaha's, not to bad with Kawasakis either.

Agreed
Kawasaki all day babay!!!
no way honda or yamaha
thekillerklebb all day!
No way Jose. Honda for 4 strokes and Yamaha for 2 Strokes.
Kx 85 LETS GO
Yamaha, Ktm is too overpriced
If your looking at any new bikes just pick your color and set up your suspension because they're all the same now. if your looking at 2015-16 bikes.
SPOILER dont waste 5mins of yours life 5:10 then watch till end
Why doesnt you ride ktm ? cos i am sponsored by suzuki...
I'm not getting a KTM, I'm going to be on team green for a few years.
stop going to kawasucki we all know those things suck
Don't race me I'm to fast No, I have a 1997, still runs good.
I dont take advice from people who drink monster
Suzuki's handling is legendary!
Cause RC needs to humble himself and challenge himself. Riding a KTM would make the goat unstoppable.

Hagelzuckererbse yeah get a yz125, bulletproof, fast, plenty of hop up parts avail., just don't buy older yz s that are not blue
Maybe because KTM just doesn't pay him enough, at this levels every bike is the same, they just pay more or less money to ride them
Whaaaat absolute bullshit.
Learn your facts before you go posting dumb arse.
thats why everybody has won on the Suzuki...its just the same...yeah right...thats why RC , Reed , Dungey JS7 all won on the Zook. fact ktm guy fact.
It didn't matter what Carmichael rode, he was going to win anyway.
At the pro level its a mostly mental head game and these kids are so well practiced and ready for Pro racing, but on the other side they have been racing like pros since they were 6 years old,and u never know when they reach the PRO ranks if they let up mentally, may be they stop pushing them selves,in sports I think physical peaks And don't know who has injury s that mess up their training,etc...piece,I was alway impressed with RC will to win,and the other day I heard Roger say the same thing and that was cool...in motorcycle racing there is an old philosophy when u get passed to get the guy right back just to demoralize him take the wind out of his sales,I'd say RC was a good picture of that rule.
his response should of been "I dont ride a ktm because i want to win races"
Nice video but let me save you some time. "Because I'm sponsored by Suzuki, that why."
very smart answer to a very smart question, that's why.
If you think that was a smart question you're a fuckin idiot
another idiot picking up my bait! lol!
800 raced mill creek in mini's i remember that kid, used to kick ass! got picked up by ktm. i was 30 something in 02-04, but RC is right he never made it. there were others that were good, 00 askew was a good rider. motocross is a small world. still ride a 2 stroke and always will
why he dosnt ride ktm lol... thats why his kid had a KTM under the christmas tree this year
That's a nice one, Ric4y
I think a contributing factor to why he doesn't ride a KTM is because he's sponsored by Suzuki...
You could have a great channel with out click bait. Look at your comments and the thumbs.
none of this video talks about why RC Doesn't ride a KTM. He just talks about other types of subjects. MXON's, Jeffery Herlings and Adam Ciancurulo.
And KTM Is Krap!!!!
THANK'S from NOR-CAL!!!!!
Hahaha, poor Alessi.... Ive seen videos of his dad cryin about that same thing!Villipoto had you on beatdown mode son, allll day
they say it's 80%rider 20,% bike if you can't ride your not gonna be any faster on a nice bike.
Here is the answer..5:09
Decent content otherwise!
I don’t ride a KTM because who the fuck CHOSES Orange???
Thats the gear i have cool!
I use to not ride KTM because they were so darn expensive.. now all of them are.. so I would ride one. for sure.. if you bought it for me..
He never said why he wouldn’t
Ktms are great bikes WHEN they're not locked up..
I think of KTM s as thoroughbred racehorses, high performance but require high end maintenance program.Japanese bikes are more robust 'weekend warrior' rides, they can be abused & hold up ( for a while)
"Because I'm sponsored by Suzuki". Simple as that.
cool video , very misleading title though !
I do love watching ktm's win !
Well that isn't a very good reason thought it would be better than that
I’d ride any bike if I got them for free lol
857 dislikes KTM owners, its alllll about the riderrrrr.
why don't rid ktm it suck
why wouldnt you ride suzuki parts are way better price bike has the best handleing if you maintain your bikes they will last forever and the best looking bike out there pastrana rc james stewert brian deegan all rode suzuki at one point in there carrer
It is answered at very end
Because ktm is junk
Adam Cianciarulo AKA "Glass Joe".
People who hate on KTM just jealous they don't have one
I feel like every European rider is a "sand guy".
