No one, ever, in this world has ever made anything so beautiful as Kate does it. Oh, life would be so poor without her music. I've listened to her records again and again for 30 years and I still discover something new hidden here and there, I'm so grateful Kate, of what you've shared with us, and words can't simply describe it. It's the way you can make a grown man laugh and cry and wonder at the same time!

This makes me sad about my lifelong pet cat, who died in my lap, as I was petting her and telling her she was ok to go....

I've been there with a big, boof-head dog. Head on my lap, looking at me and asking me to make it better. Just stroking him and lying, and saying it's all going to be fine. I've never felt so helpless, so worthless ...
Same but with my dog. She even died around 11, when the clock says the time is.

Still brings me to tears. My pack of dogs. 30 years about, down to the last little one. He is 17. We lay on our mattress and dream of youth. Of the ones just waiting on the other side. The other night there was music and soft lights. They were popping thru from the other side. He was wagging his tail like a puppy. Our time is short now. Every day is a gift. Thanks Kate. You get it.

This song and video affects me so much for some reason, I think it's because it's about a pet and I don't have a dog but I have a cat I love very much. When she sings "but when he dreams, he runs" I almost cry. So beautiful, the visuals on this album are amazing.
I cry at that bit too. I think about my old cats towards the end of their lives and how they used to twitch their legs in their sleep. I miss them so much. ❤️

This song and clip remind me my first dog I ever have*... I know it is maybe a little stupid, but I feel some kind of sadness while listening this song, but the great music should play with your emotions and make your hearth full of feelings. Kate Bush is an artist, not only a singer.
*She died in february this year and I miss her :(

Reminds me of my first and only dog as a child. She was with me day and night, through thick and thin. I miss her so much 40 years later.

When I was a kid my family had this one cat for 14 years. Although we all loved that cat and treated her nicely she was never very friendly to anyone. She didn’t want to play or be pet and would sit off by herself aloof to everything around her. At the very end of her life she changed and became extremely friendly. Always wanting to be next to or sitting on anyone. She now enjoyed being pet and even started to purr for the first time. Very strange. Other than her wanting the warmth of our bodies (she could have sat next to the heaters) I think she somehow knew her time was nearing an end and decided to show her love to us before she left. I still very much miss that cat.
Very likely was the runt of the litter. More introverted and cautious. RIP to the old girl.

@@ghostpuppet31 I’ve had a couple of rescue kittens who were the “runt”. They were both the most loving little cats I’ve ever known. Funny how experience creates our perception that’s reality…

OMG This is why Kate Bush is my favourite artist and musician of all times and in spite of that (or because of it) It’s been 20 years that I almost never listen to her music. With all the gentleness in the world, she takes a scalpel, opens your chest, extracts your heart and with a smile on her lips, she cuts it into small pieces. And you like it. It’s really too much for me.
I had to hold my beautiful dog Candy as she had a lethal injection at the vets (to put her out out of her misery from lung cancer) and it was one of the most heart rendering things to happen in my life.

+adysaxman77 This video came out as our beautiful and loyal dog, in the last months of her life, watched over and guarded my wife who was in the toils of massive chemotherapy aand then radiotherapy following full surgery for breast cancer. I still weep to watch and listen. Our animal companions are a gift, and we owe them our duty, even (especially) at the end.

Everything Kate has done is pure genius. This album has so many layers, each song in their own right are like separate words for snow. Great stories for the warm inside on cold winter nights.
one cannot help but to shed a tear for this one. Exquisite depiction of a lost love. and how dogs dream. sweet dreams. How a pet can be heartbroken when their human dies.
To All of You> consider this when adopting a pet because so many have lost thier mommy or daddy, it was not their fault, but now they grieve, alone, wishing for someone like You to understand.

This reminds me of one of my earliest childhood memories of going to the bank with my mother. Back in those days (early 70ies) they had 'kids stations' with little desks with binoculars, through which you could watch an animated movie that you had to trigger yourself by turning a knob and/ or a lever. This was very similar to this and I cherish this video for it immensely. Thank you Kate for bringing it back. Thank you for coming back! You are my secret little good witch (of music and imagination).

This music, this poetry, makes grown up man cry every time - and it happens often. Living with Setters now and within years gone by remembering all them allready passed away, this song is part of my life telling about great partnership between beautifull Setters and a human beeing. Thank You Kate for amazingly beautifull music, not only this song, but the whole allbum and many before. Wish You have power and ideas to produce more music.
I have lost my beloved dog some while ago and this song reminded me of her. It is soothing, calming and comforting at the same time, though it brought me to tears as well.

"Rubbish?" Well, I guess one man's "rubbish" is another man's treasure. Haven't ever seen a Kate Bush song set to shadow puppetry before, and it comes across as ideal to me, but I guess I just don't know "rubbish" when I see it. Thanks for pointing it out. The next time an artist puts out a song and uses shadow puppets to communicate it visually, I'll refer back to this.

Beautiful song with a beautiful clip, that I fully relate to with the stray cats I care for. It's always joyful bliss when I see them each day, and when those who trust enough to come home and inside do so. It's also heart-breaking as I never know who I'm seeing for the last time, as they go off on their adventures.

Is it me or is Kate taking notions she had as a child and exploring them with her adult mind? I think her son Bertie has a lot to do with this. He must be a huge inspiration in her life now. Fair play to her, she's still taking risks instead of being boring and settling down into middle aged mediocrity. What an inspriation that woman is. Kudos to Kate.
I remember seeing this on Kate's website before I came of age.
It's one of my most vivid memories of the person I used to be.
So unfortunate so many fans did not see Kate sing live. It seemed as though the tickets were sold to expert buyers and re sold at greatly increased prices. I wish Kate had sold to her subscribers or performed at the 02 a few times.
I paid the proper price and I got tickets for 2 dates. 3 tickets for the original last date and 4 for the 'new' last date when she extended the run. Also, there were security measures making it near impossible for touts to resell.
1. Her subscribers did get the first chance to buy tickets, ahead of the public.
2. That show would not have worked at the O2. That's why she did a month of shows at an appropriate venue, rather than a handful of shows at the O2
Incorrect. One of the rare times recently, when real fans got to buy tickets ahead of touts. And the O2 is a horrible venue.

Just because you trained "at the RADA" doesn't make your opinion any more valid than someone who stacks shelves in Tesco. And I don't think it's wise to reveal so much about yourself in a UA-cam comment section, given that you are supposedly a working professional. Besides, don't you have better things to do than get into arguments about subjective pieces of art? Go run your theatre company.
In answer to willshakespeare2007, I'm afraid RADA seem to have dropped the ball as far as you are concerned, when you finally discover what art is, 30 or 40 years down the line, then, and only then, will you be in a position to make a commentof any note.
God knows who let you behind a camera, or direct a film, or was it in the luxury of your own bedroom? Good luck, and I look forward to the reviews.

My miniscule gripe is that I wish the animation was for the complete length of the original - around 12 minutes? Anyhow, apart from that, all is well Ms Bush.
And for general knowledge - "Misty" is the absolute finest artistic achievement in this current realm of existence. Any arguments against will be greeted with the contempt they deserve

@znoraa1 Hello, Smoking Apples Theatre Company here! An Ancient technique yes, but the puppets we used were rod puppets, not marionettes! But yes very hard to control, the shot with the trees coming in from the side took 25 shots! :)

The people who say those things can't reconcile themselves to the fact that she's not the 19 year old sylph running around on the moors anymore, but is, in fact, a down to earth, over 50 years old mother and companion just leading a normal life...or as normal a life a musical genius adored and respected by too many to count can lead. This is gorgeous. I love this. I am new to Kate Bush. And I'm a big fan already. Not only is this song beautiful, but the video is also beautiful. I am shocked that people are commenting that the cut out woman in this video is thin, and in real life Kate is not. I have seen Kate, and although she is not thin, she is not fat. And it's silly to compare a cut out doll to a real person.
the woman isnt even meant to resemble Kate, so people should do their homework before listening to real art.

i just sit back, close my eyes and listen to this amazing song. Lake Tahoe, Misty and Among Angels are masterpieces! Snowflake is beautiful but just too repetitive. Wildman is a beautiful song when played with just piano, just dont like some of the instumentation she used. Her songwriting is second to none.
I so wish she would tour. No fancy costumes or dance routines; just a five-piece band, kate at the piano and that voice..

I've listened to this song passively in the past, but never really absorbed the lyrics or saw this video. We had to put down a beloved family dog just over a year ago and I still miss him. This song and video had me in tears. It's so beautiful and so relatable for animal lovers.
Robert J. Williamson is obviously a legend in his own mind - yet no one has (and hopefully never will) hear, or has heard of him. Kate Bush is an incredible multi-talented artist - singer,songwriter, and also experimental shadow puppetry. When Williamson dies, no one will notice, it's a case of a tree falling in the forest, and it won't make a sound - so, work on your your social/artistic skills.......

This animation is breathtakingly beautiful
There is a huge depth of love and sadness in this song. But I think you have to have had a companion dog to fully understand the depth. And the child-like simplicity of the vid complements the deepness and the dog-relation. Those who want a flashy or at least hi-tech vid--not the song or subject for it. Perhaps it's a dog-thing...you have to have been there...

Your reply tells me everything I need to make my decision not to bother. You obviously have a closed mind as to what art is and your qualifications mean nothing, I don't care about them. We may disagree as to what art is but I guarantee you, I have a wider understanding than you have right now and possibly ever will. Just because you can't see the art in something doesn't give you the right to condemn someone else's creation when your viewpoints are on such a different plane.
