  • Black Gap in Big Bend National Park is a Jeep Badge of Honor Trail. We would travel that during our January 2020 run of the Big Bend of Texas. This closer look lets you see most of the footage from five cameras. These include one on the front bumper of Mark's Tacoma (the other Mark D, as it were), one at the sharp drop-off that makes Black Gap (but is now made easier with stacked rocks), one mounted in the windshield of Mark's Gladiator (the original Mark D), and one in (the original) Mark's hands. Vehicles are running and shown in the order of Bill's 4Runner, Chris' Jeep JK, Mark's Tacoma and Mark's Gladiator. The final camera was used by Laura M to shoot Chris as he drove his own Jeep back and returned so he'd complete the entire Jeep Badge of Honor Trail in his own rig (he drove Bill's 4Runner while Bill drove Mark's Gladiator the first time through). After the January 2020 trip video is complete, there is footage of a run in October 2011 the opposite direction. The trail is shifted significantly over before reaching the pass at Black Gap. The off-camber seen in that last segment is now cordoned off from vehicle travel. The drop-off had a few rocks, but not nearly as many as the recent trip.
Videography by Chris and Laura M, Bill D, and both Mark D's.(

Great videos. I went out to Big Bend in December in my 2 door Wrangler and watched your series to get some intel on it. This trail was fun and beautiful. Thank you for the footage and the experience!

Sort of stuck here in ridiculously cold weather, so looking for a few productive things to do. Thanks for the comment!
