Used to listen to this a lot when I was at Camp Pendelton when I was in the Marine Corps. I was considered an "Honorary Soul Brother" by the Dark Green Marines in my Company, because I didn't have a shit bag of things against them. This song told me that music could bring us together, and it told my Dark Green brothers that we could be "solid" even if we sometimes felt like we wanted to fight each other. No civilian will ever understand that.
