Building on the success of the PJ2 COM radio, the PJ2+ COM continues to set the bar for what a handheld aviation radio can do. In addition to standard GA headsets jacks, the PJ2+ also features a 3.5mm jack to accommodate wired earbuds or a computer headset. An updated, high contrast screen and 6 watts peak transmit power make the PJ2+ the perfect addition to any flight bag.
The simplicity of this radio makes it a pilot favorite: just turn it on, type in a frequency, and plug in your headset. No menus, no wires, and no adapters. Independent volume and squelch adjustments are easy to do, even in turbulence, and the extra-large screen and keypad make a big difference during an emergency.

Was just going to order it then realised no 8.33kHz. That is a must in Europe nowadays. What a big oversight by Sproties.
Is that Kelsey from 74Gear in the picture when talking about using earbuds at an airshow?
Haha...I thought the same thing!
I just receive my PJ2+ yesterday; I’m not receiving any communication while I’m on the ground, granted I was about 10 miles to the west of a class C but a little worried mine is defective.
Love the addition of the 3.5mm jack! Is there some sort of transmit lockout on the PJ2+?
No there isn't - you can transmit with the 3.5mm jack in use.
@@sportyspilotshop maybe I’m overly cautious but I’d love to have a transmit lockout option for when I’m using the radio for Airshow photography. Maybe hide a switch in the battery compartment that enables this lockout when the 3.5mm jack is in use.
Great VHF!
How much is that?
Does this radio transmit or just recieve?
It transmits and receives.
Does it doe 8.33kHz?
No it does not, but we do offer a number of radios that do: www.sportys.com/avionics-and-radios/aviation-radios.html
Pity
That is a pity. Use of 25khz spaced radios has been illegal here in Europe for almost 5 years now. I quite fancied one of these for my (international) flight bag but will have to stick with Icom for now.
@@colinm7374 We'll definitely keep that in mind for future radios. About 90% of the radios we sell are to the US, where 8.33 really isn't used, and it's expensive to get a new model approved. But stay tuned - we're always working on new things.
@@sportyspilotshop Many thanks Sportys. I have been a customer of yours since the 1980s and envy the general aviation scene in the USA (ie no need for 8.33Khz spacing below transition level and a thousand and one other things that make it easier to fly in your country!).
I'm just curious as to what would a regular non-pilot person do with such a radio? I mean, if it's illegal for a non-pilot to talk to pilots in the air with one of these radios, I'm curious as to why they are sold to the general public. Don't get me wrong, I would be the first in line to order one of these radios from Sporty's if I knew for a fact that the FAA and FBI are not gonna come after me for having a conversation with a passenger aircraft pilot cruising at 30,000 feet up in the air. So can somebody explain to me what good is it for a non-pilot person to own one of these transceiver radios instead of a receiver ONLY police scanner radio which has the aircraft band included to listen to???? 🤔🤔🤔
