Hey Nate! Thanks for making these videos on the new Roborock! Is the S5 Max still your favourite? I'd love to see a head to head with the S7 MaxV and the S6 MaxV to see if it really is worth splurging on the latest model.
So from my personal testing get the S7 MaxV only if you plan on getting the Ultra Dock or want the better cleaning performance over the S6 MaxV on carpet. The S7 original one is better value overall. Granted it doesn’t have the obstacle avoidance or camera security feature.
@@RobotMasters Thanks! I wasn't planning on getting the dock but thought the cleaning performance would be worth it. My second story is wall-to-wall carpet. I would definitely go for obstacle avoidance (daughter & senior cat).
Really helpful! Quick question, if the vacuum is not going into particular areas, how do you make it go there?
I would use the remote controll feature to manually steer the robot to thaylt location. Drive it around that area for awhile than you see the map update that area. Have the robot dock than try doing an area clean.
great review and very helpful. Question - does the roborock have a limit to size of a single level house it will map ? Maybe the distance from the dock has a limit ?
Not that I know of, usually they max out around 5,000 sqft. given the battery life and their ability to effectively clean that area after multiple recharges.

HI Nathan. When you add the furniture, does the robot recognize and go round it, or just ignore it like it is not there and work on the Lidar can actually "see"?
When you add furniture the robot will only clean around that area. Also depends how big the furniture is will affect the size of the cleaning area. Us keep out zone to have the robot avoid the area.
@@RobotMasters So in essence the furniture then becomes keep out zones. A bit stupid, as I would rather trust the robot that a human adding something which he thinks may be in the right place.
@@hansielategan969 Yeah you have a good point if the robot can automatically add certain furniture since trying to line up furniture on a map isn’t always accurate or to scale on a user’s smartphone. It takes trial and error when setting up areas and no go zones.

2. can s7 maxv dock to s7+ station (this with bagless dirt bin) ?

So as of now the S7 MaxV Ultra Dock won’t have a bagless option. The S7 MaxV Ultra will be backwards compatible with the original S7 dock so if you got the bagless canister you can use that. Or use the Plus Dock which is basically the same as the S7 dock.

First of all thank you. The presentation was a little to fast. I still cannot figure out the map. What are the different colors mean. Second I try to only mop the non carpeted area but do not know how to select. Any help is appreciated.
The different colors on the map represents different rooms. You have the ability to edit the rooms once the map has completed and saved. As for only mop carpeted areas you can use the area select feature and select mop only in the vacuum settings. If the robot detects carpet it will lift up the mopping pad.
Nate, I am looking at either this or the Ecovacs, I believe it will be out this month. I am very interested in which you would choose, any chance you will be reviewing the Eco soon?
So right now I don’t have plans to review the Ecovacs. Just from specs and pricing alone I would choose the S7 MaxV over the Ecovacs because it cheaper and the mopping system does better than spinning ones.
@@RobotMasters Thank you and that was another question I was hoping to get answered, you believe the mopping of the S7 is more effective then the spinning brushes of the Ecovacs, I would have thought it was the other way around, but you know better then I. So… Your subscribers get a 50% discount when it comes out right? 😁
@@sdcoinshooter Of course hahaha, there definitely will be a good discount 😁. So the vibration on the S7 ultra sonic so like your electronic sonic care tooth brush, cleans pretty well.
When you want to create another map for a different floor, can you use 'quick mapping'?

1. Does this robot with ultra station can pre wash mop before mopping (can You force him to thi this in the station) ?
2. Does hepa filter in robot itself is washable? i've seen that some people are doing this but i'm not sure if is feasible?

Hello so the Ultra Dock itself doesn’t have any filters except for the higher quality dust bag that I know of. As for the Robot Hepa filter it is washable, just don’t use any harsh cleaning chemicals or metal sponges to clean it. Rinse off with warm or cold water and let it air dry for 24-48 hours.

@@Rebel_at_Heart Yes it pre washes and wets the mopping pad prior to cleaning. You have the ability to set how long the robot goes out and returns to clean the mopping pad or you can set by rooms.

@@RobotMasters that's awesome! I think this robot and the j7 will make it really close. But I also wonder that if this 5100 pa of suction power really makes that big of a performance difference or not compared to s9+ or s5 max's lower suction power.
@@egesanli619 Yeah the higher Pa could help, from my testing and experience with trying a bunch of different brands, I find the way the robot navigates, the style of extractor bar, the height of the robot affect how well the robot will clean. For example the Roborock S4 had one of the highest scores in overall cleaning abilities despite being less powerful than the newer S6 MaxV.
This feature should be added to previous models, mainly the last ones like the S7.
Hopefully Roborock incorporates these features to their other models. Any software features should be across all the models unless there a hardware restriction or limitation.

Do you have the Roborock S7 MaxV. I think it only available for that model. Roborock may add this feature to other models later on. If you do have the S7 MaxV, make sure it on the latest firmware, than go to the mapping and you should see a create new map + icon. When you do this there should be two options, whole house cleaning or fast mapping.
@@RobotMasters I do! And it did appear the second time I tried. Maybe I confused it by choosing Map in settings instead of the main screen.
