Now, send John Carpenter to the Criterion closet.
He picked his top 10 last week!
@@AKelly1337 I’m surprised he didn’t pick Rio Bravo.
@@zombiTroutWell, he was choosing a Film Noir themed Top 10 to correlate with his album, so most were noirs, but he did choose a great Howard Hawks film that's a bit noir-ish, Only Angels Have Wings. He definitely would choose Rio Bravo if it was an overall movie list though. On that point, Rio Bravo isn't in the Criterion Collection, it definitely should be, in my opinion. At least Red River, another great Howard Hawks/John Wayne Western, is though.
“Do we get to keep this shit!?” 😂 hilarious
I've always wondered if the guests had to pay for their picks. Now we know. :)
Seven minutes with John Carpenter 😩 should of been an hour video with the master.
If it makes you feel better, it’s probably cut down from 2 hours of raw footage.
You are correct.
@@DoctorFurioso How would that make him feel better? XD That means theyre holding out!! haha
*Should Have
"Should "HAVE." @penguintitz reminds you that just because it sounds like "of" doesn't mean it IS "of."
John Carpenter playing games on Twitch would be hilarious.
Carpenter is a gamer. that made my day
He's been one for decades. I believe he collabed on one of the F.E.A.R games
@superstimulatedminotaur3681 he directed Fear 3
In an interview if i remember correctly he said he started back in the 90s when he bought Cody a Sega Genesis and got hooked on Sonic.
Wonder why he hasn't scored a game in that case!
One of the most well known facts about him.
I love that they're all hyping Goblin
amazing band, Claudio Simonetti founded his own version of the band and re-recorded both Suspiria and Dawn of the Dead and they're pretty cool
John Carpenter + Goblin = Absolute greatness. You don't need anything else, actually.
@@eduardoabreu1785 I would probably add Carpenter Brut also, love what they're doing
Went to see a special presentation of the cleaned up re-release of Suspiria (the original obviously, not that foul remake) in a cinema a few years back, man, that soundtrack was wild in full dolby, loud as hell too!.
John Carpenter / Goblin 7" split when?
Carpenter is so enthusiastic about everyone’s selections… love it
recently saw Suspiria with Goblin playing the soundtrack live. Absolutely mind blowing.
John Carpenter is such a legend - made a number of absolute classics, started to fall off when it came to making films so he said "Screw it I'll lean into music" and blesses us with amazing synth albums. Thanks John!
So amazing to see the love they all share for Goblin, Dario Argento and George A. Romero, metal and prog and electronic music... great picks!!! Ride The Lightning! 🤘🤘🤘 LOST THEMES 4 is another amazing addition in a killer discography!
John Carpenter, who has made some of the best movies, and soundtracks comes in and picks The Beatles, my favorite Beach Boys record, AND a freakin video game soundtrack!? I always knew he was cool. But this is next level, cool for eternity!
The Beach Boys Sunflower album is really good! Particularily "This Whole World" (the alternate version)
@@Teabonesteak Sunflower is highly underrated! Great record. Bruce Johnston has said that’s his favorite. Love All I Wanna Do.
What Boomer doesn't pick the Beatles and/or the Beach Boys?
And he once bought a Pet Shop Boys album. 😂
@@devtrashWhat sane, rational, lover of music doesn't?.
Didn’t think I’d hear the phrase “I love video games” come out of Carpenter’s mouth.
Man I still can’t get over and love how much John is into video games. It’s so cool.
Love John Carpenter so much and Big Trouble is my all time favorite of his. He's starting to look a little like David Lo Pan😂
Suspiria is my FAVORITE film score!
Rondo of Blood has an amazing soundtrack
John Carpenter the GOAT
John continues to be awesome.
based as fuck for getting the rondo of blood soundtrack, best OST and probably the best Castlevania game
Unsurprisingly they all have immaculate taste!
As a musician, I owe a lot to John Carpenter. The visual concepts, characters, soundtracks and sounds of his films were burned into my brain 40 years ago and continue to flow into my own music.
I bow to this genius.
Thank you, Sir! Greetings from Germoney ;-).
First time i see videogame music, nice!
Dawn of the Dead and Gobin, the Beatles, Rondo of Blood... its like they raided my room! My favorite one of these ever by far.
Might be the best episode, in terms of taste, variety and just epic scale.
Where do I even begin here? The beach boys, video game soundtracks, Suspiria, all wrapped in a conversation with my favorite director at one of my favorite stores.
Daniel Davies is awesome. Gets to hang out with John Carpenter and make music and have one of the greatest guitarists as his dad! Charmed life, for sure!
Kinks descendant, dad is guitar god, grew up with John Carpenter, looks remarkably well balanced, and his own man.
@@clementetiennelavallard133 Ray Davies is an English Poet of the first order, upper 1 %-His book X-Ray is amazing-God Bless The Kinks,Now & Forever:)
Love you, John. You keep playing those games and making that music.
John freaking Carpenter?!?
A legend. Thank you!!! 👍👍👍
This makes me like John Carpenter even more... What a legend.
I was just watching They Live!
Excellent film.
I haven't seen Profondo Rosso, but I've listened to songs from the soundtrack. So cool to see it on here!
Castlevania is my all-time favorite video game series. This was awesome 🍻
Favorites guests and favorite picks all across the board 🔥🔥🔥 suh dudes
I love their collaborative work, and obviously John Carpenter's stuff is legendary - but Daniel Davies shouldn't be overlooked. His bands Year Long Disaster and Karma to Burn along with his solo stuff is just amazing (check out the hidden faces EP with Jess Margera from CKY on drums and Brad Davis from Fu Manchu on bass).
Karma To Burn are fucking great!
@@ariescustom RIP Will
JOY DIVISION/NEW ORDER Forever!
I LOVE THESE SEGMENTS...SO MANY INTERESTING CHOICES.
All fantastic picks!!
Thank you maestro!
Pleasantly surprised that the great John Carpenter loves Horizon Forbidden West!
Todas las selecciones son excelentes!
So humble. A real genius ❤
"The Fog" along with "The Exorcist" is my all-time favorite horror film, I especially love the funky/jazzy score. BTW, here's some unpopular opinion: "Memoirs of an invisible man" is an excellent movie.
How is it unpopular?. Unpopular would be saying Halloween is highly overrated and frankly dull.
@@scottneil1187 Because generally it is considered a flop and Carpenter hates it and hated working on it.
The Fog is such a vibe, I love that movie.
It comes as no surprise that this made for a magnificent watch.
That was a quicky!
Surf's Up was the first Beach Boys album I ever bought on vinyl (prior, I bought then on cassette and then on CD), would have been late 1990s or early 2000s, but I don't remember where I bought it. It sure as hell beat out Still Cruisin, which was the first album I ever bought with my own money way back in the 1980s.
John into video games?Brilliant. Why haven't we had a Snake Pliskin game?
That's literally Metal Gear. That's why the main character is Solid Snake
🪱Snake🪱 Plissken🪱
he loves video games! notably he loves the sonic the hedgehog games too
@@zedc6072 The early games have great music, so that adds up
@@_gorezone_ yeah I know what Metal Gear is...But not the OG SNAKE is it?
Really bummed I missed John Carpenter at the local con recently. Wanted to compliment him on his music.
Legends right here 🙌 👏
John picking Surfs Up warms my heart very deeply.
legend in arts
Great taste all round
Damn, I really want him to go on tour again.
I would buy a John Carpenter action figure in a Hot Second!!!
Nice eclectic selection
Word:)Giallo Soundtracks,Video Game Soundtrax,&one of the best Beach Boys albums....Beatles PastMasters volume 2:)
Legends
The legend himself
Goblin is one of the best! And Vangelis.. And Rondo soundtrack. It's like I was picking these albums, haha.
John!!!!! Surf's Up!!!! YEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!! 100% 100% Couldn't agree more.
John Carpenter is a Horizon fan!? Hell yeah
I love Horizon games and all but FW soundtrack is something else. Just amazing piece of music.
John Carpenter cracks me up, I love his humour :)
Beatles, Blade Runner, Beach Boys and John Carpenter. Oh yeah, this video was made for me.
Fucking rondo of blood “ I always go straight to the video games” I don’t feel so bad about my path at this moment
Cody Carpenter writes some incredible prog rock
the legend has turned into David Lo Pan 🖤
Good episode.
legend
surfs up!!
🖤🖤🖤
👏👏👏
John Carpenter, the man, the myth, the legend!
Surfs up!! Yes. It is the best. JC rules ❤
got excited and sad at the same time when I realized that there was only 6 minutes of video
The goat 🐐
THE TEAM.
holy shit is this so awesome i’m gonna cry
Люблю и фильмы и музыку Джона.У всех музыкантов отличный вкус. Побег из Нью Йорка точно бы вошел в мой выбор саундтрэков. Собственно на виниле он у меня имеется)
John Carpenter is the ultimate cook
MAESTRO!!!!
what if John Carpenter was your daad maaann??
Not knowing these people and after watching the intro, The first pick was very unexpected and made me laugh
I get it. Mortiis and Burzum. But I believe John Carpenter truly invented Dungeon Synth.
My day is made
I wish they had longer!
0:55 Thanks for the reminder that SF is up north lol
we need a new "The Thing" videogame!!
😎
W O W
If that is the 1994 release of the Blade Runner soundtrack is the one that omitted much of the film's score, blends tracks and included compositions not used in the film. The 2007 Blade Runner Trilogy: 25th Anniversary is better but still not complete and contains a bunch of music not in the movie.
Prego mescuzi el picko
Remembering total specifics when your friends don't...I feel that Daniel
My man's loves video games like a mfer
Their new album is AOTY material
Solid picks by all 3. I’d pick up the same things if I was balling lol
Looking more like Lo-Pan every day.
I would kill for a John Carpenter video game, since they robbed us of the guillermo del toro and Kojima horror collab Game 😭
John Carpenter Type Beat*
When I helped wander around with him at H45 I picked John's brain about video games. I told him he needed to do the film adaptation of Red Dead Redemption. Then we talked about Starfield and his work with the band Gunship.
Don't trust that person thanking them at the end They sound like they could be The Thing! lol
