Wow. Those are very impressive. Monitor Audio loudspeakers are a good value at various price point. Own Silver series from 2004 ish. Still great. Impressive to hear they are privately owned. Part of their success.
they sound incredible but boy are they ever ugly looking and they should have kept the platinum 500 around as well that was a big mistake discontinuing it.
No I think you misunderstand, it's 95,000 to rent the speaker for 2 months, and then of course an additional outlay of the same as you rack up consecutive two-month periods. It's kind of like IMAX cameras, they won't allow you to buy them you simply have to rent them
I own monitor audio PL300ll and they replaced a lot of speakers before them, some more money some less but this price is ridiculous,I don’t care how it sounds,I admire monitors engineering and that is what made me interested in the platinum, and the sound quality made it easy to keep them.
@@AudioAdvice it’s just a shame that so called statement or reference as there classified have to be priced for the rich, material and build of most of these speakers do not condone the price, having two degree in engineering from NYU mechanical and electrical I cannot be fooled by some of these builds
The soundstage feels like it’s about 5 feet tall which is good considering the speakers themselves are about 5 feet tall! He says the power requirements are the only drawback but I say the price might just have a few drawbacks too.
Yes, they are not inexpensive, but do sound amazing and better than some other speakers we have heard in this category that cost even more. Thanks for watching
For those who have heard both, this vs the Martin Logan Neolith? Which one would you get? I have heard neither so asking for those who are lucky to have heard both!
Both are amazing and represent the pinnacle of each company’s technology. It’s like asking which is better a Ferrari or McLaren :). Thanks for watching
Funny, thats similar to what I wouldve named my kidz, had I ever been cursed with twins: "UMLAUT"... They share genetic profiles, why not a name right? Figured they'd need true, individual names of their own as well, so as to not confuse things for the Government/UncleSugar... Twin 1~ 'HYPHEN' Twin 2~ "TWODOT' Or possibly in homage to HitchHikersGuideToTheGalaxy novel: "ZAPHOD & DOHPAZ"...;) G.I Joe previously licensed the 1980's era action figure named "TOMAX & XAMOT" so those are out of the 'runnin....;)

These sound significantly better than others in much larger price points. Was very impressed at the show!
We agree, they may be expensive but there are others for much more that to our ears at least do not sound as good.
@@AudioAdvice how would you compare them to similarly-priced Magico or Wilson loudspeakers?

Yes, they are a unique company these days with many brands under a conglomerate umbrella. Thanks for watching

It is at the extreme high end of pricing and their statement piece. Thanks for sharing your experience with your Monitor Audio speakers.

@@AudioAdvice that one’s easy, why the Ferrari of course! 😄 but I see what you’re saying 🙏🏼
It's always risky to make a speaker that deviates from the traditional look of loudspeakers but I think Monitor knocked it out of the park!
Great point and we totally agree. They are elegant and sound fantastic. Thanks for watching and sharing
Wow, they look like no other speaker that I've ever seen.
They certainly are unique
You never seen Star Wars? Hahaha
Can’t tell me they don’t look like tie fighters. I would bet that was a major inspiration for the design. 😮
