when we put on our headers we used guides too, Junior Johnson taught us that and we tightened them from the center out to keep them from jiggling out. Your dad is a good race mechanic and funny as hell.

It's hard to explain how satisfying it is for the the guys that assemble these when the car does well. I used to help a guy in WV that was a regular winner. I got to the track a little later than I normally did and they were putting transmission in the car. Clutch had started slipping. This was back in the triple disc days. I helped finish it up and he started last as missed heat race. Finished a close 2nd and the whole place about exploded. It was almost better than when he won. Loved that stuff.

Also another trick with any gaskets you may be running is coat them with a thin film of C5-A copper anti seize. They will still seal just fine but will never stick to the mating surfaces. It’s an old aviation trick we use. You can actually re-use most gaskets that are installed with this method if you are in a pinch and don’t have a spare

I would also suggest a heavy gage ground strap to use as a body ground for the engine and MSD box. That connects to a location that is puts it in contact with bare metal.
What normally suggest is a fine wire welding ground wire with two brass or copper eyelets to use as a chassis ground.
Now this is what I picked up from someone who worked at MSD. When one of the race teams I was with was experiencing a issue with the boxes and modules in the distributor going out.

The silicone trick I have never heard. Thats pretty awesome. First thing i thought was "at least I'll be able to find it if its in the fridge." Round my shop a tube of silicone is ALWAYS as elusive or more so than the 10mm socket.

Transferring everything from one chassis to another is sure easier than building a new car from scratch when you have to gather up every piece, part, nu and bolt. Been there, done that. A never ending series of phone calls searching for and ordering parts, along with countless trips to a parts store for that piece you forgot.

I like using studs on the heads for the headers and with locking nuts with the oval thread holes. Not the nuts with the plastic lining.
Now these are the locking nuts with the tapered back and the studs are two different threads sizes. One side to screw into the head and another for the nut. I believe it is 5/16 on the head side and 3/8 on the header side. All should be something like medium thread's and blue loctite. But again the nuts have to have the oval thread holes and if needed lock washers could be used.

    Stage 8 Locking Header Bolts / Jegs.com.
You may not need this on a crate motor, we had an unlimited class (open motor). We kept blowing valve cover gaskets
Moroso Crankcase Evacuation System also Jegs.com
Also I know you are not going to show the rear end housing because that is where the secrets are, but when I setup the rear end and the 4 links. I always make sure if I put a wrench on a link, if I pull the wrench down, it screws the link out (makes it longer).
How I remembered it ( Down and Out). Reguardless of which side of the car you are adjusting, you will always pull down to lengthen the bar or push up to shorten the bar. This also works on the A arm links in the front end. You may have to swap bars end for end to get it right.
Nothing special here, just little things that make adjustments at the track a little quicker and easier.

As an old team manager I have been thinking about the problem of the old #56 car and have a couple of suggestions
1 start a gofund me or similar page you have 34,000 subscribers and if they all gave $1 it would go along way to running the extra car
2 sell the old #56 car and buy another capital this car can be used in several ways first of all its a spare for the #10 and the new#56 incase of damage at a critical time in the upcoming season
a 3 car team is much easier to pitch to a major sponsor
it can also be used to rotate your father, jesse and micheal to give them some seat time during the season and will help with feed back on set up
you will need to work with a graphic designer to help with corporate color schemes to increase marketing potential
you are no longer just drivers and team owners but now entertainers and as such need to look at things differently

You know, I've know many many times that MSD box or distributor going out --- not only in my buddy's car and others alike; even the coils. That's why I run neither.... I run a Crane box with no issues -- no pills to buy either... just dial in your RPM and there ya go...... 1 coil went bad --- once! Just sayin'! LOL.
