🤒 SICK? SHOULD YOU TRAIN?

- 💊 Movement is my medicine. I've followed this mantra for most of my life. Moving helps my brain and body feel good. It gets me out of depressed moods and it also has helped me overcome injuries. Movement can have powerful benefits.
💭 So why would this change if you are sick? Well, if you are deeply sick then it could be a good idea to sit this one out and just rest. But if you have a moderate illness like I recently did, then I still like to move. I just lower the intensity so I don't tax my nervous system and immune system too much. It is simply a matter of intensity.
🙌 Focus on movement quality and blood flow. Don't go hard.

Long story short :
Your body can either recover from sickness or from physical work.
Both demand everything from detoxification abilities . It can´t do both well, and it needs rest to do it for sickness.
Having a serious flu means having fever. Fever demobilises for a reason.
You overlook that, you risk permanent heart muscle damage.
We are not machines. We do sports for health. Don´t loose the focus, keeping the focus sometimes means take it slow.
That's exactly what happened to my brother. He went to the gym to "sweat it out" and needed stents in his heart.
When I have sinus issues training is the main thing that makes me feel better. It causes everything to drain out and the rest of the day is usually great.
I fully agree with this and that this will get me better when I’m sick as you mention. Nice one!
I recently had Covid for a second time, it was MUCH less severe this go around but I still didn't train for about 4-5 days. I just didn't have the energy. I did Murph on Memorial Day and immediately felt "not right" It absolutely WRECKED me. The next day I was down for the count and 3 days later tested positive for the Rona AGAIN. I did some LIGHT stretching, I did some very slow continuous swimming in my pool, but workout with weights was not happening. I have always gone by the motto of "Above the neck go ahead and train, below the neck rest and don't push it". That has always worked for me.
@Tannershuck take notes on this guy. He educates his audience while staying humble
"sick" depends sometimes right i mean
So you should train sick if you live in paradise and have an awesome outdoor gym?
But thats not good for everybody and every type of illness sometimes you just have to rest and do nothing that stresses your body even a little bit of movements if you have a fever can literally make your symptoms much worse and the recovery will take much longer
I totally hear you, and I think that rest is so important especially when you're sick. It's so important to listen to what your body is telling you.
I just go easy if I'm sick just enough to hold off atrophy
Going easy is the right thing to do! It will probably take more like 2 to 3 weeks for any atrophy to take place, but regardless, moving will help you feel better.
Love your outdoor gym set up .
